[Bug 1058742] [NEW] [P55A-UD3, Realtek ALC888, Orange SPDIF Out, Rear] No sound at all

2012-09-29 Thread Maddmaxx
Public bug reported:

Have had ac3 passthrough working before, is it possibly not happening
because of the lowlatency kernel offered in ubuntu-studio?

[Bug 614993] Re: 10.04 - 10.10 upgrade fails: pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks: xserver-xorg-video-v4l demoted to universe

2011-02-06 Thread Maddmaxx
Confirmed: sudo apt-get purge xserver-xorg-video-nouveau, then sudo
update-manager -c -d will fix you up!
Completing upgrade as we speak, now to recompile my wireless driver and
(fingers crossed) all is well!

[Bug 365371] Re: landscape-sysinfo crashed with ImportError in module()

2009-10-12 Thread Maddmaxx
FYI, It happened to me on the first reboot, after upgrading from Jaunty
to the beta. I wasn't running anything yet... Perhaps the first check
done by the automatic update daemon?

[Bug 430606] Re: libavcodec-extra-52 broken dependencies, fails to install

2009-10-12 Thread Maddmaxx
Likewise, after upgrading to the 9.10 beta, now I cannot play audio or
video due to these broken dependencies, they cannot be repaired via the
standard procedures. I have disabled the PPA's, tried fixing broken
dependencies in Synaptic, and by command line... WOW... Guess that's
what you get for using betas...

[Bug 430606] Re: libavcodec-extra-52 broken dependencies, fails to install

2009-10-12 Thread Maddmaxx
I apologize for the double post, but I'm on to something... Open
Synaptic and install libavcodec52, let it uninstall what it wants to,
pay attention to what it uninstalled, and reinstall those packages after
it finishes. Now on to my unrelated audio issue...

[Bug 369375] Re: Jaunty: very slow video playback using xv with proprietary Radeon HD 2400 driver

2009-08-29 Thread Maddmaxx
Likewise, but as we've been told, using the proprietary ATI Catalyst 9.8
for Linux drivers we are left with no support, I fortunately have decent
performance with my HD 4650 (rv730). It is set to 1920 x 1080 on both of
my screens (24 and 52 Samsung flat panels).

aticonfig --initial=dual-head
aticonfig --help

I'm still trying to find more info on how to fully utilize the aticonfig
settings. I still notice tearing on video playback, with quite
impressive framerate, no stuttering for the most part, unless you get
into 1080p .mkv video. 720p .mkv plays quite well. Flickering on flash
videos remains an issue. Of course we will not be able to enable any 3d
rendering as far as I know. The support is apparently somewhat there for
rv5xx, and rv6xx.

I bought this card for my older agp system to play video. It's an Athlon
64 3400+ with 3 GB of Mushkin Memory. If anyone gets this working feel
free to leave some info on one of the http://ubuntuforums.org/index.php
threads. Search for rv730. I have posted in there. I'm pretty sure it's
clearly stated not to post here for fixes related to ATI/AMD proprietary
drivers, fglrx etc... I apologize sincerely.

[Bug 337341] Re: python-netcdf dependencies problem

2009-03-03 Thread Maddmaxx
I'm sorry I can't help you, but I've confirmed the bug. Obviously the
repos aren't as solid as LTS releases are, but it's fun to see what they
are expirimenting with...
