[Bug 1945097] [NEW] getent does not resolve host in .local while avahi does
Public bug reported: To reproduce: 1)Set up a shared printer. 2) On a computer in the same local network the printer is seen by cups as a dnssd printer. 3) After setting up the printer as a dnssd printer cups cannot print since it cannot locate the printer. avahi -a -r and avahi-resolve-host-name are able to resolve the host with the printer. getent cannot resolve it and cups fails. As suggested in https://ask.fedoraproject.org/t/avahi-isnt-being-used-to-resolve-local-domain-names/4911/8 the issue is related to mdns4_minimal in /etc/nsswitch.conf and the absence of /etc/mdns.allow ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: libc-bin 2.31-0ubuntu9.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.11.0-36.40~20.04.1-generic 5.11.22 Uname: Linux 5.11.0-36-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.20 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sun Sep 26 13:32:43 2021 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-10-06 (354 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200731) SourcePackage: glibc UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: glibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1945097 Title: getent does not resolve host in .local while avahi does To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1945097/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1310632] [NEW] when radeon module is inserted skype, drive manager and audio and video settings hang; vgaswitcheroo does not work
Public bug reported: If I start the system with radeon module blacklisted everything works with the issue of having the discrete radeon card on and a higher cpu temperature. [Bug 633596] Re: blank screen on bootup with HP Touchsmart tm2t laptop
Two further ways on how to get around the problem: 1) you can use vesa driver in xorg.conf after blacklisting drm.ko and i915.ko (and get a higher fps in glxgears) 2) you can add "i915.modeset=1 video=1280x800@60e" as kernel parameters so that also the VGA1 connector is turned on and then you can switch it off in rc.local for example. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/633596 Title: blank screen on bootup with HP Touchsmart tm2t laptop -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 729068] [NEW] Screen almost always blank after boot
Public bug reported: It seems to be a bug in drm.ko or i915.ko kernel module. I have blacklisted intel_ips because of symbols issues. No problems with drm.ko and i915.ko blacklisted and driver vesa. If I start without kernel parameters or with "i915.modeset=1 video=LVDS-1:1280x800@60e" the screen is almost always blank and it requires opening and closing the lid a certain number of times in order to get the screen back. If I start the kernel with parameters "i915.modeset=1 video=1280x800@60e" then the screen is not blank. I guess it is because also the VGA-1 adapter is turned on even if there is not a vga screen connected. Then I have to manually correct the screen resolution. I loaded iwlagn with debug=65535 and this is the output of /var/log/syslog Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.193582] wlan0: authenticate with AP 00:18:f8:xx:xx:xx Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.195540] wlan0: authenticated Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.195544] wlan0: associate with AP 00:18:f8:xx:xx:xx Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.197781] wlan0: RX AssocResp from 00:18:f8:xx:xx:xx (capab=0x401 status=0 aid=2) Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.197786] wlan0: associated Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 wpa_supplicant[741]: No network configuration found for the current AP Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.218543] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlan0: link becomes ready Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.218824] wlan0: disassociating by local choice (reason=3) Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 wpa_supplicant[741]: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED - Disconnect event - remove keys I must add that I have a /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf with one network of type WPA-PSK It took some time to pin down the problem because 1) if the interface wlan0 was down and I configured the essid for wlan0 manually with iwconfig the essid was accepted (as it could be verified by iwconfig) but the essid was lost as soon as I brought the interface up 2) if the interface wlan0 was up and I tried to configure its essid with iwconfig wlan0 simply did not accept the essid and iwconfig showed no essid assigned to wlan0. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mplayer Description:Ubuntu 9.04 Release:9.04 mplayer 2:1.0~rc2-0ubuntu19 I was trying to play a mp4 file with mplayer. Mplayer recognizes both video and audio codes as Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg's libavcodec codec family Selected video codec: [ffh264] vfm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg H.264) but then it cannot play audio with message Forced audio codec: mad Cannot find codec for audio format 0x332D6361. >From DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html it turns out that the codec is a ffmpeg codec. I tried to recode the mp4 file with ffmpeg with ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vcodec copy output.avi It worked and the resulting file can be played with mplayer. ** Affects: mplayer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- mplayer cannot find audiocodec 0x332D6361 while ffmeg can https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/416941 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 157958] Re: amarok still can't play mp3s after autoinstalling the codecs
I installed all codecs and _also_ amarok-xine since it depends on it, but neither mp3 nor streaming worked. Then I installed xine and I could hear both mp3 and streaming. It is then possible that this is a bug of amarok-xine which depends in some way on xine. -- amarok still can't play mp3s after autoinstalling the codecs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/157958 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for amarok in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
