[Bug 545443] Re: Lucid on Asus EEE PC 901 and 1000H fails to connect to any wireless network

Elton: Thanks. But The lucid I'm using IS a fresh install, so doing a
clean install won't fix my problem... I'll read the forums (again), but
I'm a bit disappointed here...

[Bug 545443] Re: Lucid on Asus EEE PC 901 and 1000H fails to connect to any wireless network

2010-05-16 Thread Marc Poulhiès
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 496093 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496093

I have an eeepc 901 and can't connect to WEP wlan. It was working fine
with karmic, but since the update to lucid, I haven't been able to
connect to my lab's wlan (WEP). I can connect to WPA or unprotected
wlans.

I can't modify network settings as I don't own the AP and I did not test
with another WEP network as they tend to disapear (expect in my lab...)

I tried various "fix" without luck. In particular, I installed 2.6.33
from rsalveti & kernel-ppa. I also installed drivers from ralink.

I'm not commenting in the "duplicate" parent, as I have no problem
connecting to WPA networks...

Applying this patch to the source package of karmic works. The export
produces a nearly correct file (it uses bad uid/gid).

Same here on an eee 901.

I tried with .32-rc7 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
but it looks like something is missing as wifi interface won't show up
(missing module ?).

[Bug 381555] Re: banshee does not transcode oga to mp3 when sending to ipod

2009-06-07 Thread Marc Poulhiès
here is the log of banshee --debug.
I started banshee and waited for it to stop doing anything. I added a [AFTER
START] in the log to indicate this. Then I transfered an ogg file to the ipod
(I get only one line in the log... which does not seem very useful).

I'm going to test banshee 1.5.0 from ppa now.

Thanks,
Marc

[Bug 381555] Re: banshee does not transcode oga to mp3 when sending to ipod

2009-05-29 Thread Marc Poulhiès
I see only after reporting that I was using a ppa package for banshee,
so I removed it and installed the ubuntu one. But I have the exact same
behavior. I tried to use ubuntu-bug to generate a new report, but when I
click on the "yes this is the bug I'm trying to submit", LP tells me
"This bug is already marked as affecting you.".

So, I confirm I have the bug with banshee from jaunty: 1.4.3-3ubuntu2

[Bug 381555] [NEW] banshee does not transcode oga to mp3 when sending to ipod

2009-05-29 Thread Marc Poulhiès
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee

When I send music to my ipod with banshee, it simply copies de original
files. If they are mp3, it works. But most of my files are vorbis files
(.oga) and the ipod doesn't handle them. The ipod can see the albums,
but is unable to play them. The files on the ipod are correctly copied
and end up with names like ABCD.oga. There is no error/warning message
in the console.

This may be the same bug as 337075, but as I have no error message, I prefered
to file a new one.
I tried to run banshee in debug mode to get something, but there is not a
single line displayed when triggering the transfer.

[Bug 235697] Re: Help text does not match real software names for proxy configuration

If you say so :) In fact, I'm just the "proxy" for reporting this bug. I
was called for help this morning by an ubuntu user who couldn't find the
proxy setting in its french menu by reading its french help, that's why
I may have misremembered the real text.

[Bug 235697] [NEW] Help text does not match real software names for proxy configuration

2008-05-29 Thread Marc Poulhiès

[Bug 118397] Re: checkfs fails at startup while trying to check /dev/.tmp-XXX

2007-06-07 Thread Marc Poulhiès
I don't have skills/time to have a look into e2fsprog, but I know that
this computer worked perfectly for nearly one year, and then, it has
started to fail at boot with this error... So I guess there is a way to
avoid this race... Maybe I'll try to track changes in e2fsprog package
and downgrade it. The last solution is simply to hack
/etc/init.d/checkfs in order to skip this (and f-e only check known
disks).

[Bug 118397] checkfs fails at startup while trying to check /dev/.tmp-XXX

2007-06-02 Thread Marc Poulhiès
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: initscripts

When starting, checkfs checks the filesystem and fails while trying to
check something in /dev/.tmp-XXX . The strange thing is that sometimes,
it starts correctly, sometimes not. When it fails, I have a shell access
which $PATH is not correct (/bin:/sbin), so it complains about not
finding less, apt-get & stuff. If I run /etc/init.d/checkfs start again,
it does not complain. I simply hit ^D and the system starts correctly.

Here's the log:
