I no longer own Epson printer nor use Ubuntu. Still have fun reading
comments in this bug every time new LTS gets released.

Six years. Few LTS releases and bug is still present. Amazing.

[Bug 1603083] Re: standalone grub image does not see GPT partitions

2016-07-20 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
This image contains /efi/boot/bootx64.efi which was generated using
simple command:

grub-mkstandalone -d usr/lib/grub/x86_64-efi/ -v -o bootx64.efi -O
x86_64-efi

Result is unusable as it does not see UEFI partitions.

Anyone can check by booting image on UEFI bootable VM.

[Bug 1603083] Re: please provide a standalone grub image

2016-07-15 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
I added building grub-efi into cirros in lp:~hrw/cirros/add-uefi-grub-
support branch and produced images are at
http://people.linaro.org/~marcin.juszkiewicz/test/cirros/0715-broken/ as
set of disk images/kernels/initrds.

aarch64, arm, i386, x86-64 have grub-efi binaries and should boot to
grub in uefi environment.

But no GPT partitions:

grub> ls
(memdisk) (hd0) (hd1) (hd2)
grub> ls (hd0)
Device hd0: No known filesystem detected - Sector size 512B - Total size
110592KiB

Grub from CentOS shows GPT partitions properly:

grub> ls
(hd0) (hd0,gpt15) (hd0,gpt1) (hd1) (hd2)
grub> ls (hd0,gpt1)
(hd0,gpt1): Filesystem is ext2.
grub> ls (hd0,gpt15)
(hd0,gpt15): Filesystem is fat.

[Bug 1603083] Re: please provide a standalone grub image

2016-07-14 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
One of things cirros image does is being small. Every time I used grub-
mkstandalone it ended with 4-5MB binaries which not always worked (no
idea why).

Due to limited time to work on it I grabbed CentOS grub-efi packages as
they contain working ~1MB binaries ready to use.

[Bug 1296303] Re: added AArch64 support to libhdf4

2014-05-26 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
For those who will discuss with upstream:

===
Hello Marcin,

I discussed your build issue with HDF4 on ARM 64-bit. As mentioned,
this is not something we support currently, and it requires
software changes to get it working.

I went ahead and entered an enhancement report for the issue, in
case we can work on it in the future. For your reference, the
report is HDFFR-1453.

Thanks!

[Bug 1178847] Re: chromeos 3.8 kernel fails to boot when compiled with gcc-4.8

2013-05-11 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
It does not display anything on screen. But combination of Power+Refresh
(F3) keys == hard reset and then mount pstore somewhere and it should
have console log of failed kernel.

Attached is log from failed build (done with older gcc-4.8).

** Attachment added: failed-dmesg

[Bug 1178847] [NEW] chromeos 3.8 kernel fails to boot when compiled with gcc-4.8

2013-05-10 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
Public bug reported:

I wanted to check newer kernel for Samsung ARM Chromebook. So I grabbed
http://git.chromium.org/chromiumos/third_party/kernel-next.git, updated
config and started building.

Everything built fine (with lot of warnings) but kernel failed to boot.
So I tried to build it under 'raring' and it booted fine...

OK, so maybe it is gcc fault I though. And did build with gcc-4.7
instead. This time kernel built and booted fine:

hrw@krolik:~$ uname -a;cat /proc/device-tree/model ;echo
Linux krolik 3.8.0-saucy4.7 #9 SMP Fri May 10 22:48:02 CEST 2013 armv7l armv7l
armv7l GNU/Linux
Google Snow

So I think that this is gcc-4.8 fault.

[Bug 1164484] [NEW] Add support for checking Device Tree model name

2013-04-04 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
Public bug reported:

There are Device Tree (DT) platforms where one kernel fits all devices -
like NVidia Tegra for example. So their maintainer can add one entry
into flash-kernel database and get work done.

But for other DT platforms is may not be possible. For example on
Exynos5 we have Samsung ARM Chromebook and Arndale board. First one uses
linux-chromebook 3.4.0 kernel while latter one uses linux-linaro kernel
- and each does not support other. They also boot with different
bootloaders...

With current code Exynos5 platform does not work cause all flash-kernel
knows is SAMSUNG EXYNOS5 (Flattened Device Tree) which does not help
here.

Attached patch adds support for checking model name present in Device
Tree so support for Chromebook can be provided as for Google Snow
machine.

[Bug 1095710] [NEW] update-grub-legacy-ec2 does not consider 3.5.0-generic as valid for Xen

Public bug reported:

I use Ubuntu 12.04 in Xen. Boot is done with pygrub so I use grub-
legacy-ec2 to generate list of kernels for booting. But with
3.5.0-21-generic I do not get it on a list:

2012-12-21 Thread Marcin Juszkiewicz
But your problem requires new bug report against kernel. This is about
U-Boot bug on my EA1 pandaboard. And it was solved long time ago.

Complaining about random bugs in other random bugs does not make them
solved.
