Found the culprits (packages with no equivalent on focal repository (python2.7, for instances), packages manually installed and, by last, very old and very specific packages related to old hardware, mostly printers); 2. Solved the issues by removing manually the offending packages listed on the upgrade log; 3. After that, upgrade to focal went almost fine, except one major issue, after reboot, there was no GUI interface, due to lack of some packages related to lightdm, although apt upgrade -f and dpkg- reconfigure didn't report anything. Solved by purging the lightdm package and reinstalled. The check Key Bindings Toggle Scale Mode makes no difference to me, neither I need to press arrows. I have only bound the initiate on top left/right corner and this is enough to trigger the bug. It starts the animation, freezes for some seconds in the middle, and then completes. Daniel, I am kind a busy those days, not sure when will be able to test the live session. But something really bizarre just happened: I was working on Eclipse (the latest), I had the editor window split horizontally in two with a bunch of open files on each. When I tried to drag one editor from bottom to the top split, nothing happened on Eclipse, but a recent maximized terminal window from two desktops on the right just popped out in front of me, unmaximized, bounced a little to some corners, no title bar (it was thinking still maximized and using global menu), and stopped in the middle of the two monitors, at the bottom, half outside the viewport. Then I tried to move it with alt+drag and it flee back to its original desktop... Some more info: that terminal window was resized by the grid plugin with ctrl+alt+kp3 before got maximized by clicking the window control. I am NOT using Ubuntu's Eclipse, but downloaded from the net instead. I also disabled click-to-focus, click-to-rise and auto-rise, It smells related. Not to forget: dual monitor. Sorry if I could not be of much help now. By now I can send you my compiz info if that helps, just tell me the proper way. Sometimes I miss my FreeBSD + WindowMaker desktop from some years ago wait: it was a decade ago already! Hi, I recently updated my Inspiron 1720 from opensuse to Ubuntu 10.10 and I found exactly the same problem. I was using gmail when I tried to open a very large image and the whole computer freezes. I have been using linux for a long time and is the first time that I see something like this. Because of the extension of the crash, that I had to reset my computer, I am assuming that its not really Firefox but something to do with the kernel, as this just happens when there is a kernel panic. There are a couple of things that I think could be the cause of this problem, 1) the video card drivers and/or 2) the kernel version, most likely, the problem is the nvidia drivers. This problem also happens when I tried to make the first update after the installation. I will try to 1) update the drivers, and 2) update to a newer kernel. It works if I use a non-LDAP user, but not with a user from LDAP server. As a matter of fact, it seems to be some bug in some other lib regarding pam/ldap. Dropbox also refuses to run properly with an LDAP user, but works flawlessly with a local only user, on the same machine with the same ldap config. I had some troubles with c cedilla (like Ç, instead Ć). In Brazil we type ' + c (acute plus c) to do ć. But when running Firefox32 with Kubuntu 64 bits, GTK fails to load the 32 bit cedilla IM module. GTK always load the 64 bit module version. I workaround it changing the internal references to the string cedilla from the im-cedilla.so 32 bit version to cedil32 and setting the environment variable GTK_IM_MODULE to cedil32 (only to Firefox32 - I change its script).
