[Bug 1576768] Re: user can not access USB devices

2016-05-10 Thread Marco Righi
Hi, I think that the problem is a little bit different. After some tests
perhaps it is a problem related to the permissions of the file. The
problem is present before that the OS is executed. I attach a screenshot
that shows the problem and VBox.log.

Even if the screenshot shows you that are not present attached devices,
there are some USB attached devices! VirtualBox can not access to some
/dev or something else and do not show the attached devices!

Please write me ifd I can provide you more information, I really would
like to resolve this problem!

[Bug 1579781] Re: librxtx-java fails to open /dev/ttyACM0 port!

2016-05-10 Thread Marco Righi
Hi, some mounts ago I wrote a code able to read/write USB port in order to
communicate with an Arduino 2560. The code is written in Java. The code works
perfectly with Ubuntu 14.04.
Some days ago I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 from scratch (completely erasing the
OS partition) and I installed the GNU IO library.
I expected to run my code as in the previous OS 14.04 but when I tired to
execute my code I noticed a problem. The problem was the inability to access
the /dev/ttyACM0 (using the root user and a normal 'dialout' user).
In order to resolve the problem I tried to update the OpenJDK because Java8 was
already installed. During the upgrade I got the bug #1550950.
After this partial upgrade GNU IO was not runnable: the problem was not solved.
I resolved the problem using galternatives and setting for each j* voice the
1081 choice (in each place where it was present).

Please write me if you need more explanation. I am glad to help the
linux community.

2016-05-04 Thread Marco Righi
After a dist-upgrade using "-proposed" the root can use the USB devices.
I tried chmod 666 /dev/vboxdrvu and the user can not still use USB
devices.

I am exploring the /dev but I would wait some comments before provide
chmod 666 to these files (and moreover after each reboot the files came-
back to the original permission settings!)

[Bug 1576768] Re: user can not access USB devices

2016-05-02 Thread Marco Righi
Hi,
I have tried to reboot. The problem exists using Win7 and WinXP. I think that
it is independent from the OS. By using the Oracle VM Virtuallbox manager, if I
click with the mouse over the setting of a configured or UNCOFIGURED virtual
machine I do not see USB devices. With unconfigured I intend that I have
created the VM but I have not installed the OS.

Summarizing, if the VM Virtuallbox manager (in Italian Oracle VM
Virtualbox Gestore) on a new VM machine (only created) does not see the
USB devices it is not a problem of the OS. Using default Ubuntu
Packages, I have installed the packages "VNC" and "Oracle VM VirtualBox
Extension PAck".

** Changed in: virtualbox (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

** Description changed:

Hi, a general users can not access USB devices. The root user (or sudo
virtualbox) can access to USB devices. I have executed the following
commands without success (the tested user is "marco"):

  usermod -a -G vboxusers marco
  usermod -a -G vboxsf marco

Please write me if you need more information.
+
+ PS After a successive check, I noticed that the "root" user (that I
+ have enabled in my Ubuntu Xenial) can see the usb scanner (that
+ requires XP drivers) but the TWAIN driver does not detect the scanner.
+ VirtualBox show the USB scanner as attached.

** Description changed:

The keyboard Perixx 1800 is not recognized by Ubuntu. There is a bug fix at
the address https://bitbucket.org/Swoogan/aziokbd that is not integrated in
Ubuntu and it is not internationalized.
Please 1) can you integrate the Perixx Keyboard support in Ubuntu 14 LTS? 2)
it is not implemented the Italian keyboard layout. Can you extend the support
to Italian keyboard Layout? Thanks Marco Righi

Dear Staff,
as you can see in the screen-shoot, the text is not readable. I use standard

1) can you correct the bug?
2) can you suggest me where to change the white-text colour or the

[Bug 1524268] [NEW] keyboard not recognized

2015-12-09 Thread Marco Righi
Public bug reported:

The keyboard Perixx 1800 is not recognized by Ubuntu. There is a bug fix at the
address https://bitbucket.org/Swoogan/aziokbd that is not integrated in Ubuntu
and it is not internationalized.
Please 1) can you integrate the Perixx Keyboard support in Ubuntu 14 LTS? 2) it
is not implemented the Italian keyboard layout. Can you extend the support to
Italian keyboard Layout? Thanks Marco Righi

[Bug 1516329] [NEW] DNS BUG delay resolution of LAN DNS

2015-11-14 Thread Marco Righi
Public bug reported:

I have a little LAN (3 computers) where each computer uses UBUNTU 14.04 LTS.
The LAN has a server that assigns the IP address by MAC ADDRESS and provides
DNS resolution for local computers.
The BUG is for each computer of the network (I have not tested the server that
is and ODROID and has not monitor and keyboard).
For example a computer is called "core". If I try to connect to "core I got the
following message:

ssh -X core
ssh: Could not resolve hostname core: Name or service not known

and if I try lookup command I got

User:marco Computer:i7 Base:marco Current:/media/data/users/home/marco
Command 1003 of 14 $nslookup gaia
Server: 127.0.1.1
Address:127.0.1.1#53

** server can't find core: NXDOMAIN

After a random time (it can be few seconds or some minutes) the address
is resolved

$nslookup gaia
Server: 127.0.1.1
Address:127.0.1.1#53

Name: gaia.lab
Address: 10.10.100.11

and after the first resolution the address are resolved for all the
computers of the LAN. I have not problems to resolve the address outside
the LAN.

the reverse address is decoded:
nslookup 10.10.100.11
Server: 127.0.1.1
Address:127.0.1.1#53

11.100.10.10.in-addr.arpa name = gaia.lab.

The DNS servers are:
nameserver 10.10.100.7
nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4
/etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base (END)

where 10.10.100.7 is the server of the network.

Please contact me if I can provide you more information.

Best
Marco Righi
