[Bug 1058030] Re: Log full of xhci_hcd WARN

2013-06-04 Thread Marcus Overhagen
Regarding the problems described starting at comment 40 on 2013-03-27, with
exception of comment 41,
I made fixes for them and submitted them upstream. Please consider backporting
them to ubtuntu kernels.

[Bug 1058030] Re: Log full of xhci_hcd WARN

2013-05-31 Thread Marcus Overhagen
The rts5139 driver is responsible for both, the messages and also the
non-working SD card slot.

After sudo rmmod rts5139 the warnings that were printed every 5
seconds will stop.

It's still broken in
3.8.0-23-generic #34-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 29 20:22:58 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux

There is currently no upstream fix available.

[Bug 872220] Re: Fails to boot when there's problems with softraid

2013-05-16 Thread Marcus Overhagen
I just made a full update on a 180 days old 12.04.2 system. Everything
was fine before, but on reboot I'm dropped into this rescue shell,
because /dev/sdc1 is detected as belonging to a degraded raid.

However, the raid is not degraded! cat /proc/mdstat shows it as healty
(keyboard is working), and after I type exit boot continues normally.

[Bug 592286] [NEW] radeon kms freezes computer (RV280 Radeon 9200 SE)

2010-06-10 Thread Marcus Overhagen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Graphics are very slow, and opening Google in Firefox will instantly
freeze the machine in Ubuntu 10.04

Removing compiz and compiz-core didn't solve this.

Using the kernel command line options ro nomodeset instead of ro
quiet splash solves this problem.

The machine does not freeze when kms is disabled, and graphics speed is
acceptable (as in 9.10)

This machine is using a PCI Radeon 9200 SE card (not PCI express)

[Bug 576147] Re: if array is given a name, a strange inactive md device appears instead of the one created upon reboot

2010-06-10 Thread Marcus Overhagen
I also see this /dev/md_d127 array after reboot. It usually consists of
a 1 to 3 devices that belongs to the real raid array.

I usually run

mdadm --stop /dev/md_d127
mdadm --assemble --no-degraded /dev/md0 /dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1 /dev/sde1
/dev/sdf1 /dev/sdg1 /dev/sdh1 /dev/sdi1

to get the real array one running. Annoying!

This md_d127 gets created even if /dev/mdadm/mdadm.conf is empty.

[Bug 173843] static network settings not applied

2007-12-04 Thread Marcus Overhagen
Public bug reported:

I installed hardy alpha 1 on a empty partition,
and my network environment doesn't have a dhcp server.

I did set IPv4 IP, netmask, gateway and DNS manually in
the network settings GUI. However, after closing the
configuration application, the eth0 interface is not
setup with these settings.

I had to use ifconfig to setup IP and netmask on the
command line to get network working.

(I also added default gateway with route, however I
don't know if this was necessary or not)

[Bug 107326] Re: non working gpt labels

2007-11-12 Thread Marcus Overhagen
I can confirm this bug.

Happened for me with Edgy 32bit.

The included gnu parted 1.7.1 is broken. I created a 2.7 TB GTP partition, and
initialized it with ext3.
On reboot fsck reported that the file system was larger then the partition, and
it was unuseable.

I compiled/installed parted 1.8.8 directly from GNU ftp, recreated the
GTP label and partition, and this time it is ok and working.

[Bug 67369] Re: [Feisty] Wide screen not correctly detected (16/10)

2007-07-07 Thread Marcus Overhagen
I can confirm that the workaround of deleting xorg.conf works. I was
able to swith from 1024*768 to the proper 1920*1200 with a HP LP2465.

[Bug 38865] Re: sky2 driver freezing system after ifdown and ifup

2006-10-15 Thread Marcus Overhagen
I also had these connection getting stuck randomly problem, they appeard when
transfering
much data using samba server and a windows client with a gigabit connection.

I applied the patch from
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=linux-kernelm=116060287918559w=2
to the sky2 v1.4 driver from ubuntu 2.6.15 kernel source and it seems to work,
the lockups are gone.
