Same problem, I try to downgrade to compiz 0.8.8, it's not possible without losing Unity. So a workaround, is removing Unity and installing by dpkg -i *.deb, all the packages for the version 0.8.8 available for maverick. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: structure-synth Trying to start structure-synth, raises a segmentation fault, Every time with any option, I install it from the Software Center, on a Fresh Ubuntu 10.04 Installation. My laptop is hp530, with an Intel graphic chip, 3GB of ram, Core 2 Duo processor 1.60ghz. Kernel 2.6.32.21. I had enabled composite and it's working fine.
