The bug definitely still exists (see attached screenshot--I highlighted the two menu items in question). I guess it's your call whether you want to fix it. [Bug 624547] Re: Don't show passwords on screen
This might be caused by the patch from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=521857 The first proposed patch from the Debian ticket also exists in the Ubuntu package, and I believe it is incorrect. I'm seeing a similar problem to the one described by Meluco--ettercap's TCP analyzer is seemingly unable to capture or log traffic. Making either of the changes suggested by the last few comments on the Debian ticket (change the int to either long or u_char) fix the problem for me. Although I wasn't able to test whether ettercap crashed, as I have not experienced the described crash myself. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #521857 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=521857 -- Don't show passwords on screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/624547 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 346840] Re: Buddy List taskbar icon shows on all virtual desktops
I just looked at 11_buddy_list_really_show.patch--yikes. It does things that are very heavy-handed. The application really should not do all this stuff just to show the buddy list: gtk_widget_show(GTK_WIDGET(gtkblist-window)); gtk_window_deiconify(GTK_WINDOW(gtkblist-window)); gtk_window_present(GTK_WINDOW(gtkblist-window)); gtk_window_set_keep_above(GTK_WINDOW(gtkblist-window), TRUE); gtk_window_stick(GTK_WINDOW(gtkblist-window)); It's... kind of ridiculous. The documentation for this function is quite clear on its behavior: http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/stable/GtkWindow.html#gtk-window- present I'm curious to know who wrote this patch, and if that person has prior experience working on gtk applications. [Bug 75850] Re: gaim should use gnome-keyring for passwords
Pros: Gaim would no longer store plaintext passwords in $HOME/.gaim/accounts.xml Cons: Exactly what Sebastien said, it adds extra dependencies and forces people to enter their keyring password when running Gaim. It would definitely have to be an optional feature, since Gaim is not a Gnome application, and that complicates things some. I'm not very familiar with the Gnome keyring daemon... but what would happen if the keyring daemon isn't running? The patch would need to make sure that Gaim falls back to doing something sensible, and possibly even warning the user. I'm particularly concerned about the case where someone switches between Gnome and non-Gnome. I'm not opposed to adding support for this, and it sounds like other Gaim developers would be ok with it if it were done REALLY well, but the discussion on the gaim-devel mailing list about it was too short to really draw a concensus. -- gaim should use gnome-keyring for passwords https://launchpad.net/bugs/75850 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

To me Gaim's tabs look exactly the same as Gedit's tabs. I'm using Gaim 2.0.0 SVN. I have a feeling that's newer than what you're using. * Hmm, I can't imagine why they wouldn't be the same height. Unless we used to use a different close button that was causing the tabs to be taller than normal. Or maybe your tabs are shorter than they would be by default and our protocol icons are causing them to be taller in Gaim? * The bug where the close button gets cut off should be fixed. I'm not sure when we fixed it, but it was some time between 1.5.0 and 2.0.0 SVN. * We ARE using Gtk Notebook, but tab dragging was added only very recently (GTK+ 2.10.0, July 3 2006). Are you using GTK+ 10.0 or newer? We'll have to leave in our current tab dragging code, since we support all the way back to GTK+ 2.0, but eventually we'll add support for the new tab dragging and #ifdef it so that it's only enabled for people using GTK+ 2.10.0 or higher. Er, well Gaim 2.0.0 beta 3.1 is basically just 2.0.0 beta 3 + some critical patches. If you were previously using something from a recent SVN then it might still be a good idea to verify that the bug is fixed in a build of SVN from the past day or two. -- Gaim hangs when you try to paste https://launchpad.net/bugs/57305 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54445] Re: [edgy] Gaim crashes when I click on save icon
From the discussion on the Red Hat bug we decided that this bug should probably be fixed in either dbus (preferably) or gnome-vfs. But until that happens, it's pretty easy to patch Gaim to avoid the crash. We've posted a patch for v2_0_0beta3 as well as a patch against the v2_0_0 branch of SVN to the Red Hat bug. Gaim 1.5.0 didn't use dbus, so I believe the problem does not exist there. -- [edgy] Gaim crashes when I click on save icon https://launchpad.net/bugs/54445 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 55973] Patch for crash with message can't create MCOP directory
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: arts Hi! I'm a developer of Gaim. Earlier today someone complained that they're getting a crash when Gaim tries to play an audio file using libao, which uses arts. The message can't create MCOP directory is printed to the console. I believe this is a bug in arts. It is documented in Red Hat bug #169631: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=169631 That bug resulted in a patch being applied to Red Hat's arts RPMs. I believe the patch fixes the bug for all Red Hat and Fedora users. I don't know if I'll be able to attach the patch as a file, so I'll paste it below. Forgive me if this has already been reported or fixed. I saw some similar bugs in launchpad (31699, 33903, 39182, 42169), but they all seem to attribute the problem to something other than arts. And I would have checked if you already have the patch applied, but I've been unable to find where you guys keep your package files. Red Hat applies this patch to arts 1.5.3. I suspect it is needed for 1.5.0 and higher. I do not know if there is a more recent release of arts, or if the bug is fixed in arts upstream. --- arts-1.5.0/mcop/mcoputils.cc.orig 2005-12-19 20:19:50.0 +0100 +++ arts-1.5.0/mcop/mcoputils.cc2005-12-19 20:18:18.0 +0100 @@ -46,7 +46,13 @@ result = lstat(tmp_dir, stat_buf); if ((result == -1) (errno == ENOENT)) { -return 1; +result = mkdir(tmp_dir, 0700); +if (result == -1) +{ + arts_warning(Error: Can not create directory \%s\.\n, tmp_dir); + return 1; +} +result = stat(tmp_dir, stat_buf); } if ((result == -1) || (!S_ISDIR(stat_buf.st_mode))) { ** Affects: arts (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Patch for crash with message can't create MCOP directory https://launchpad.net/bugs/55973 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yeah, this looks like it's crashing in the gaim-rhythmbox plugin. You may need to recompile it, or it may need to be modified. -- Gaim Crash after connect. https://launchpad.net/bugs/50439 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 49691] Re: gaim does not deactivite 'paste' command when no buffer, and executing it causes crash
I can't reproduce this. For me the 'Paste' menu option IS disabled when my buffer is empty. I'm using Gaim 2.0.0 beta 3 and gtk 2.8.18. Do you think you could get a stacktrace? I'm not sure how easy that is with Ubuntu.
