[Bug 138325] Re: Unable to mount root fs after upgrade to 2.6.22-11.32

2007-10-12 Thread Mark Reitblatt
I had this same problem happen to me, except on a new install. I noticed that
update-initramfs failed initially because of a typo in
/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume:
RESUME=/dev/sdb5\040(delete)
It complained about the '(' so I deleted the whole (delete) thing. Ran
update-initramfs and added the line to the boot options and it worked fine.

[Bug 85894] Re: ThinkPad overheats

2007-08-23 Thread Mark Reitblatt
According to the status log, the importance (when set) has always been high.
I believe that this is appropriate in accordance w/ the guidelines for
importance:
...
Has a severe impact on a small portion of Ubuntu users (estimated)
...

I understand that this is an incredibly frustrating bug. I also find it
interesting how spread across the Thinkpad spectrum this seems to be. I
own a T43 and an X61, and I don't have this problem. Does Edgy/Dapper
work for everyone experiencing trouble w/ Feisty? Has anyone tried Gutsy

[Bug 128156] Re: rules for blackjack incorrect?

2007-07-24 Thread Mark Reitblatt
There are many many different variations on the rules in blackjack. Not
every place follows the 5 card charlie rule. It might be nice to have

The best way to get this done would be to open a bug upstream:

[Bug 119214] internal tailor API change for hg didn't make it to Ubuntu's version

2007-06-07 Thread Mark Reitblatt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tailor

Try running tailor w/ a mercurial (hg) repo set up. It fails w/ a
traceback something like this:

...
File /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/vcpx/repository/hg.py, line 312, in
_defaultOpts
return dict([(f[1].replace('-', '_'), f[2]) for f in findcmd(cmd)[1][1]])
TypeError: findcmd() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given)

The problem is that they changed the arguments for findcmd, but missed
updating this call. I can't submit a patch since I don't have permission
from work, but it is a 3-liner. Look @ tailor's CVS and simply copy the
changes they make in vcpx/repository/hg.py ~line 310.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't
fix it, because your description doesn't yet have enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already
done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by
the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command uname -a in your next response.
It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version
you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command dmesg dmesg.log and attach the resulting file
dmesg.log to this bug report.
3. Please run the command lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log and attach the
resulting file lspci-vvnn.log to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-
related bug reports is available at [WWW]

[Bug 5801] Re: (NVidia only) Wrong default and maximum resolution on widescreen monitor (stretched 1024x768) on GeForce 6200

2007-05-16 Thread Mark Reitblatt
@ Barry: I think you have a different bug than the one reported here if
it works in Fedora. If you are able to select the right resolution
using the 'nv' driver in another distro w/ the same card and monitor,
then you have a different bug.

[Bug 89750] Re: Doesn't detect CPU frequency

2007-04-14 Thread Mark Reitblatt
I rated it as low because it only affects a small percentage of Ubuntu
users, seems to have no serious side effects, and is easily worked
around. It doesn't appear to be a HW bug since others seem to be
reporting that power management is working normally, it is just this one
applet that is misbehaving. If you really want this to be taken care of,
I suggest filing a bug upstream (http://bugs.kde.org/) and linking it to
this bug report. They are likely to have more resources available to
focus on KDE-specific bugs.

2007-04-03 Thread Mark Reitblatt
Please, if you can, attach the output of:
dmesg
lspci -vv
lspci -vvn

That's a rather old laptop. Memory/HDD problems are quite possible. Try
running the memcheck app included on the install CD to rule out memory
problems.

[Bug 102716] NetworkManager fails to bring up wired interface after resume

2007-04-03 Thread Mark Reitblatt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

This seems to be different from the other n-m resume bugs (bug 45696 and
bug 42257). n-m recognizes both of my interfaces, but fails on DHCP for
the wired network. I suspend/resume the laptop w/ the cable in, and n-m
tries frantically to get an address. The applet keeps stopping and
restarting constantly. Killing and restarting NetworkManager seems to
have no effect. If I just kill n-m and use dhclient, everything works
fine.
