We have the same problems with Gen1 VMs on Hyper-V Cluster Windows 2016 Datacenter and Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 4.4.0-97. Backup is done via DPM 2016. As long hv-vss-daemon is active the VMs freeze during nighttime with a Out of Memory event.
