For Intel graphics drivers, disabling SNA rendering and using UXA
acceleration instead fixes the issue as well.

[Bug 1314028] [NEW] Graphical glitches with SNA enabled on Intel graphics

2014-04-28 Thread Martin Endres
Public bug reported:

Operating System: Xubuntu 14.04 (Update from 13.10)

CPU: Intel Celeron 847 1,1GHz
RAM: 4GB
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 2000

Steps to reproduce the issue:

- Open multiple windows on seperate workspaces.
- Switch between windows via Alt+Tab.

Expected Result: Application windows are rendered correctly, there are no
visible graphical glitches.

Actual Result: There are graphical glithes where the active window is only
rendered partially, e.g. switching from Thunderbird to Chromium leads to a
mixture of both applications. When hovering the mouse pointer over elements,
those are updated and rendered correctly. The same effect may happen when
minimizing / maximizing windows.

Workaraound: Instead of using SNA, fall back to UXA rendering mode.

[Bug 1232575] Re: chrome.extension not available when called from extension scripts in Chromium but works on Chrome

2013-10-21 Thread Martin Endres
OS: Ubuntu 13.10
Affected package: chromium-browser (29.0.1547.65-0ubuntu2)

The following addons are affected by this issue as well: Adblock,
iReader, SlickRSS and Flashblock, which are all of my installed addons.

Since I'm relying on Google Sync and it seems a bit risky to me to
switch over to development builds, I didn't test the fix above. This
should get fixed in Ubuntu's repositories.

[Bug 344619] [NEW] no working desktop after installing Kubuntu (Jaunty)

2009-03-17 Thread Martin Endres
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop

After installing Kubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) Alpha 6 from the ISO, when the
system starts up for the first time it shows just the desktop wallpaper.

Whether Plasma is active nor the start menu. Right-clicking doesn't show
any context menus as well.

I'm running the test installation inside Virtual Box, but as it is also
posted by another user on the german ubuntuusers forum, the emulation
doesn't seem to be the cause.

Output of /var/log/syslog shows a segfaulted Plasma, caused by
qtlib4.5.0.

I tried the reinstallation of Jaunty, added a new user manually to look
whether a new profile shows the same issues, but everything without any
effect.

[Bug 234314] Re: Ugly fonts in java app

2008-11-16 Thread Martin Endres
I can confirm this bug using Ubuntu 8.10 and 'openjdk-6-jdk' (6b12-0ubuntu6),

It seems to affect all Java applications using Swing and the Metal LookFeel.

Find another screenshot (showing FreeMind, NetBeans and jDownloader)
attached.

As captn pointed out, only OpenJDK seems to be affected. Rendering using
SunJDK seems to work okay.
