[Bug 315555] Re: (NVidia) Hardware Drivers is empty

2010-01-27 Thread Martin Peacock
Had same problem with nvidia drivers not appearing in jockey on a fresh
9.10 install. Apt couldn't find nvidia-common. Had to apt-get update
then worked.

[Bug 493469] [NEW] Disk Usage Analyser reports wrong capacity for remotely mounted file systems

2009-12-07 Thread Martin Peacock
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

When scanning a file tree that is on a remotely mounted partition (from, e.g.
/mnt/remotefs/myfodler), the total/used/available indicators are from root fs.
They should be from the remotely mounted fs.

Ubuntu Karmic
Package; gnome-utils 2.28.1 (Baobab)

** Affects: gnome-utils (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-17 Thread Martin Peacock
 Steve Langasek wrote:

I think the main impact it has is to make this bug log frighteningly
long and hard to find information in, and cause a mail storm for the
poor developers who are tasked with maintaining the firefox packages in
Ubuntu.

100% agree. We should get out of here and take this somewhere else - there is
an established forum thread:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=919444. I suggest everyone picks up
and goes there.

But I do think this is an issue that needs thrashing out, and possibly
has wider implications - at least for any 'branded' free software. I
appreciate there are many many smarter folk than me have looked at this,
but as far as I can see, the name 'firefox' part of the code tree that
is published GPL, MPL, LGPL and therefore is free to use. quote GPL:

You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the Program's source
code as you receive it

Which means the build process results in the creation of a binary
'firefox'. Art work aside, how can a menu item labelled 'firefox' be
restricted?

[Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync

2007-10-22 Thread Martin Peacock
Agreed. Killed evolution-alarm and evolution-data error disappeared.
Interestingly, when restarting evolution, those 2 processes reappeared
along with evolution-exchange which was NOT in the process list
previously.

Note: Error first appearance immediately after upgrade to GG.

[Bug 10435] Re: Nautilus '~/Templates' folder does not exist

2007-08-20 Thread Martin Peacock
I agree with comments above about the dotfiles - Templates should be
.templates

Agree equally with non-desktop users - but if Nautilus is set to create
it on startup if it doesn't exist then non-desktop users won't be
affected.

As far as I am aware (may be wrong!) Templates is only used by Nautilus.
Therefore it should be Nautilus that maintains it.

Unless of course there is an applet in System...Preferences to manage
templates. Newly installed applications can register with template
manager and user can pick/choose from a list of templates. (That's off
the top of the head so feel free to shoot it down).
