[Bug 1860537] Re: ipmctl 02.00.00.3673+ds-2 breaks on ACPI PMTT v0.1 BIOS

2020-01-24 Thread Martin Pollard
Hi Paride. Last known good version of the package is
02.00.00.3474+really01.00.00.3469-1 which I have reverted to.

You are also correct about the testing branch, I have now compiled the
existing upstream fix and tested it for myself. Sadly the current fix
does not seem to solve the problem at least on the system I am testing
on.

Martin

[Bug 1860537] [NEW] ipmctl 02.00.00.3673+ds-2 breaks on ACPI PMTT v0.1 BIOS

2020-01-22 Thread Martin Pollard
Public bug reported:

ipmctl 02.00.00.3673+ds-2 uploaded in Focal Fossa introduces a
regression in that breaks show -memoryresources on ACPI PMTT v0.1 BIOS

With the new version of the package the following error occurs.
$ sudo ipmctl show -memoryresources
One or more DIMMs have invalid PCD data. A platform reboot is recommended to
restore valid PCD data, then try again.
With the previous version of the package this command worked.

This is mentioned in upstream bug report which suggests this error may be a
false positive and is linked to two fixes in testing branch:
https://github.com/intel/ipmctl/issues/123
https://github.com/intel/ipmctl/commit/a726e745dbdeb6112e24ccb40aab98e4d9a680ec
