[Bug 1759814] Re: upgrade to hwe-16.04 kernel has broken hibernate/resume

2018-05-01 Thread Martin Stechert
I switched to a vanilla 4.16 kernel (currently 4.16.6), so no issue for me any
more.
Nevertheless is there info that I should contribute?

[Bug 1759814] [NEW] upgrade to hwe-16.04 kernel has broken hibernate/resume

2018-03-29 Thread Martin Stechert
Public bug reported:

Upgrading to hwe-16.04 (i.e. from 4.4.0-116-generic to 4.13.0-37-generic,
amd64) has broken suspend to disk on my machine.
Suspend works fine, hibernation file is written to disk and system is powered
off.
During resume kernel is started and and the hibernation file is loaded.
Immediately after 100% screen is blanked, fans are still running but no SSH
possible, NumLock on keyboard is not working. So machine seems dead.
That happens for every suspend.
I could not read any error message before screen is blanked.
No messages from suspend found in syslog or kernel.log.
I tried to make it more verbose with "initcall_debug no_console_suspend
ignore_loglevel", but I have not managed to make messages persistent till next
boot.

[Bug 1310984] [NEW] Kubuntu 14.4 (Trusty Tahr) installer does not install

2014-04-22 Thread Martin Stechert
Public bug reported:

I' trying to install Kubuntu 14.4 (Trusty Tahr).
The 64-Bit Installer boots without any problems.
Choosing language, partitioning and inserting user account data works without
problems
But then the progress bar is nailed to 0%, no data or packages are copied to
the hard disk. The installer only shows advertisings about Firefox, ...

I'm booting from a RW-DVD. I'm using the latest 64-Bit Installer (Intel).
I'm trying to install trusty on a second SSD. Currently I'm using a 32-Bit
precise with PAE. So linux partitions, swap and so on are allready on my
system. Maybe that confuses the installer.
I'm using manual partitioning (/, /usr, /var, /home and /data on separate
partitions).

When using encrypted user data, some shell scripts are kept in an infinte
sleep 2 loop.
Without encryption something similar seems to happen.

Any suggestions about how to trace that down?

[Bug 662569] [NEW] kgpg: decrypting with kgpg editor does not work

2010-10-18 Thread Martin Stechert
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdeutils

After upgrading to KDE 4.5 for kubuntu lucid decrypting with kgpg editor
does not work any more. Before (plain lucid) it worked.

Procedure
- start kgpg editor (e.g. kpgp -d)
- open an ecrypted file (with ascii armor)
- press decrypt (Entschlüssel since I'm using german language)

Instead of showing the decrypted contens, the window is just blanked
showing [Geändert] (modified) in the kgpg window title.

Decrypting the file with command line tools works fine.

I've allready tried to reset kgpg settings to the default. That did not
help.

My packages are up to date. I'm facing that problem for several months
now.

I checked .xsession-errors but did not find anything usuefull.

Is there any known issue about that?

Confusing.
