[Bug 1325801] Re: failed to boot from USB disk with error: gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R Image boot:

2014-11-11 Thread Martin Wood
The /isolinux/gfxboot.c32 file in 14.10 is 10.4kB. The same file in 14.04 is
21.3kB.
I have remade the iso image after replacing gfxboot.c32 with the one from 14.04
and usb-creator now produces working pendrives.

[Bug 1002031] [NEW] 12.04 brightness controls reversed after suspend

2012-05-20 Thread Martin Wood
Public bug reported:

12.04 i386 on Samsung NC10. All current updates installed, ecryptfs in
use.

After a suspend, the backlight brightness keys and the System Settings
-- Brightness and Lock control work in reverse.

On reboot they return to normal but reverse again after another suspend.

This has happened after a software update.
When I first installed 12.04 the backlight went from full to minimum brightness
(or vice versa) with a single stab of the keys.
I cured this by adding acpi_backlight=vendor to /usr/share/grub/default/grub
and then update-grub. There has since been no problems until now.

acpid 1:2.0.10-1ubuntu3 hope this is the right info, if not tell me what
is required I'm not a coder.
