[Bug 1971687] [NEW] Dell XPS 9510 suspend not working on 22.04
Public bug reported: On 22.04 my Dell XPS 9510 is not properly suspending and shows a high battery drain (as if it was switched on). This happens both when closing the lid and clicking on suspend on the OS. Firmware, OS and kernel are all up to date. I did not have issues with 20.04/21.10 and the respective default kernels. [Bug 1932552] Re: php-symfony-dependency-injection not working with php 8
Well, the weird thing is that you didn't have 4.4 in focal, being Symfony support release planned with a long advance. Now 4.3 is out of support (even for security fixes) and I guess that this not nice for an LTS -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1932552 Title: php-symfony-dependency-injection not working with php 8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/symfony/+bug/1932552/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1932552] Re: php-symfony-dependency-injection not working with php 8
Well, phpmyadmin is typically a package used in a server environment. As you know, usual servers are kept on LTS releases. [Bug 1932552] [NEW] php-symfony-dependency-injection not working with php 8
Public bug reported: Package should be updated to symfony/dependency-injection:4.4.9 at least, since it's the first release of v4 that is supporting both php7 and php8. I think that, anyway, using current last available point release (that is 4.4.25) would be better. [Bug 1848921] Re: iwlwifi firmware crashes intel 9260ac [8086:2526] subsystem [8086:0010]
One more report. Kernel 5.4.0-33-generic with the older "iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode" firmware is not working flawlessly: it periodically disconnects starting with an error "iwlwifi :05:00.0: Error sending ADD_STA: time out after 2000ms.". Probably once per hour. Perhaps it happens because I had to reboot into Windows this morning... Anyway, this bug is definitely still unfixed :-/ And consider that Fedora on 5.6 is in the same boat. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848921 Title: iwlwifi firmware crashes intel 9260ac [8086:2526] subsystem [8086:0010] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1848921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1848921] Re: iwlwifi firmware crashes intel 9260ac [8086:2526] subsystem [8086:0010]
I am on 20.04, kernel "5.4.0-33-generic". I also see this problem. The easiest way to trigger it is to run an ADSL speed test, then the system freezes at random for several seconds and the iwlwifi log messages are the same as the initial bug report. I had the problem in the past on 19.10, kept it at bay sticking to a 5.0 kernel kept from a 19.04 install. After months the problem went away, it's not clear with which kernel. I just booted on a new kernel by mistake and the system worked properly. A few days ago the problem resurfaced on 19.10, and my old 5.0 kernel was not working anymore. Sometimes I stay weeks or months without rebooting... I tried upgrading to 20.04 but it did not help. I tried fresh installs of Fedora 32 and Ubuntu 20.04, and in both cases the live boot did not have the issue but the system after install did, but *mostly* after enabling Nvidia drivers. My problem is that I need CUDA so Nvidia drivers are a must for me. What is working now is symlinking "iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-46.ucode" to "iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode" as described in a previous comment. I did not even have to download "iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-34.ucode", I already had it in place. Setting "11n_disable=1" made the issue smaller but did not eliminate it, and the resulting network slowdown was unacceptable. Trying "backport-iwlwifi-dkms" did not help either. At this point this is a fresh install of 20.04 and the only workaround I have is the firmware downgrade. I am available for testing experimental "backport-iwlwifi-dkms" versions if needed.

[Bug 1578583] [NEW] Unity launcher fails to find applications when the name contains apostrophe
Public bug reported: There is a problem when searching applications with names that contains apostrophes: it fails to find them. For example: I have an italian installation of Ubuntu and I have two applications named: - Creatore dischi di avvio (Stratup disk creator) - Applicazioni d'avvio (Startup applications) In italian language, the word "d'avvio" is indeed composed by two words: "di" and "avvio" which can roughly translated in english to "of" "boot". When the final letter is an "i" and the first letter of the next word is "a" we need to use an apostrophe to cut the first word so it becomes "d'avvio". When I type "avvi" on the search i find both but when I type "avvio" it shows only "Creatore dischi di avvio" and "Applicazioni d'avvio" disappears. It seems that the problem is that the libluajit-5.1 32bit package depends on the libluajit-5.1-common (libluajit-5.1-common_2.0.0~beta9 +dfsg-1_all.deb), but instead of searching for an arch "all" package, it wants a "i386" package. In other words, when you try to install package libluajit-5.1-2_2.0.0~beta9+dfsg-1_i386.deb it asks for package libluajit-5.1-common_2.0.0~beta9+dfsg-1_i386.deb, but it fails because the right package is libluajit-5.1-common_2.0.0~beta9+dfsg-1_all.deb Forcing install of the packages libluajit-5.1-2_2.0.0~beta9+dfsg- 1_i386.deb and libluajit-5.1-common_2.0.0~beta9+dfsg-1_all.deb make libluajit start working like a charm, but unfortunately that cause apt to stop working until i resolve the dependency problem that I forced in. Hi Christopher, as I'm pretty new on launchpad, could you please let me understand a couple of things: 1) what was wrong on description (reference to post #25), as you've removed it; 2) why the bug is still set to incomplete? [Bug 985471] Re: Ubuntu precise (12.04) 64bit hang on reboot
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Description changed: On my Dell Latitude E5520 (Sandy Bridge) a reboot always hangs while shutting down. If I just shutdown the machine it works fine. This happens with Precise 64 bit (x64) version: I used a daily build dated 16th april and applied all updates. The previous (Beta2) version was showing the same issue, the 16th april build is showing the same issue, before and after updates. I also installed a 32 bit (x86) version on another partion and it does work fine! So this bug is affecting 64 bit version only! Upstream kernels I tested (3.2.15, 3.3, 3.4) do not fix this. [Bug 985471] Re: Ubuntu precise (12.04) 64bit hang on reboot
Ok, eventually I found a fix for this, which should work for many Dell machines (and this is important for remotely controlled machines as a reboot would otherwise require a manual intervention or a power-cycle). To fix it, I simply had to add the following kernel parameter to the boot line: "reboot=pci" If you have the same issue, expecially with Dell machines, you could try this setting by pressing "e" at the very first boot selection prompt, manually add the string "reboot=pci" and press to boot. Once booted, double check your new setting by issueing the following command "cat /proc/cmdline", then perform a restart to actually test it. If you want this parameter to become permanent, just type in a terminal "sudo nano /etc/default/grub" find the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" and change it by adding the reboot=pci parameter GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="reboot=pci quiet splash" then save your changes and perform a "sudo update-grub" that's it! Important notes: For reboot kernel parameters I used this useful source for which I really thank the author: http://linux.koolsolutions.com/2009/08/04/howto-fix-linux-hangfreeze-during-reboots-and-restarts/ > I tested all options seen there, reboot=pci being the only one actually > working > After I fixed my machine, I actually realized that there were a lot of Dell > owners comments at the end of such article, stating that all they used the > same parameters! [Bug 944772] Re: shutdown does not work
Hi, in the mean time I performed a full reinstallation, and eventually I just got the latest updates, including the following: Linux Max-Latitude-E5520 3.2.0-23-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP Tue Apr 10 20:39:51 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Sadly, even kernel 3.2.0-23.36 didn't fix my issue: shutdown is fine, rebooting hangs on shutting down process. I think I should open a new bug now, as suggested by Joseph. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/944772 Title: shutdown does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/944772/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 944772] Re: shutdown does not work
I confirm what Alexander experienced: with linux- image-3.2.0-22-generic_3.2.0-22.35~lp944772 even my system does not freeze anymore when resuming from suspend. But I'm not lucky as Rikard, as I have a freeze during shutdown, if I choose for a system reboot.
[Bug 944772] Re: shutdown does not work
As I experienced the same issue (hangs on reboot, while shutdown is fine) with the latest official kernel, I just tested this patched kernel. Now uname -a reports: Linux ubuntu-Latitude-E5520 3.2.0-22-generic #35~lp944772 SMP Fri Apr 6 16:15:09 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Unfortunately this patch did not fix my SandyBridge Dell Latitude E5520 behaviour: shutdown is still fine, reboot hangs exactly the same way as before. As I still have all beta 1 and 2 kernels installed, I can re-test some previous versions if it makes sense, as I'm pretty sure there was at least one working fine. No, unless you have installed the files in different locations, you don't need to export the other two variables; of course, being explicit wouldn't hurt. Check for correct file permissions and double check that extra space I see between "bin/" and "acroread". 2012/2/9 f_padia <571...@bugs.launchpad.net> > hmm it seems to have stopped working. Re: [Bug 571247] Re: acroread remains zombie, so pdfs won't be rendered anymore
The short answer is: yes. Alternatively, you can insert the (eventually edited) "export" lines into the appropriate files, so that the GUI runs with an environment in which the LD_PRELOAD variable is correctly set. Clicking on an icon to launch firefox should then have the same effect of using the sample "run_firefox.sh" script. At the same time, the Acrobat reader icon should work (but only if you replaced the executables with the ones obtained by compilation of the last version of source code; previous versions of my program did not correctly handle the standalone reader). Kernel changes should not affect the workaround code; however, changes in Acrobat Reader's version and/or in the desktop manager you use, could do so.. 2011/12/21 cement_head <571...@bugs.launchpad.net> > Hmmm, do i have to call the script run_firefox.sh each time I start > firefox? > > If so, that's my error. > > -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571247 Title: acroread remains zombie, so pdfs won't be rendered anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nspluginwrapper/+bug/571247/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 571247] Re: acroread remains zombie, so pdfs won't be rendered anymore
When running run_firefox.sh? I can't tell much from the error alone, yet it looks like you have an extra dollar somewhere, in spite of the economic crisis :-) I mean something like "export $LD_PRELOAD", with a spurious dollar sign. If you still can't solve this problem, send me more info (personalized scripts, and so on) at the email address found in the INSTALL file, so that I can help you without cluttering the bug history. 2011/12/20 cement_head <571...@bugs.launchpad.net> > hmm > > this is what I get in terminal: > > bash: export: `acroread_exec_monitor.so': not a valid identifier -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571247 Title: acroread remains zombie, so pdfs won't be rendered anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nspluginwrapper/+bug/571247/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Use the file "run_firefox.sh" to run firefox. If it works (and it should), you can remove the "export ..." line from your bashrc file. Re: [Bug 571247] Re: acroread remains zombie, so pdfs won't be rendered anymore
You have to compile the source files; you can use the script build_interceptor.sh to do so. When done, please move (or copy) the files "acroread_interceptor" and "acroread_exec_monitor.so" in /usr/local/bin. (optionally, you can change this path at will by editing the .c source file and recompiling, I'll asume you're using this one) Once you've done this, you can try if it works for you by executing $ export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/local/bin/acroread_exec_monitor.so $ firefox (be sure to close all firefox windows first) Open a PDF file, then close that tab, wait >30secs and try again. You should find two acroread processes, the parent one being my interceptor. If it works, you can then install it permanently the way you prefer: I suggest putting the following line: - export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/local/bin/ acroread_exec_monitor.so - in a file executed at logon (your .bashrc, or a script in /etc/profile.d/ if you can become root). This way, you can automatically keep using the workaround after acrobat upgrades (I don't think they'll fix it soon, since I discovered this bug is around since a while). Finally, I send you the latest version of the program I wrote, because I fixed a missing check and changed the hardcoded path of "/home/senato" into "/usr/local/bin". Feel free to examine and modify it (some knowledge of C will help). Let me know, I'll be glad to help. 2011/12/2 cement_head <571...@bugs.launchpad.net> > How would I install your workaraund? > > Thanks, > CH > > ** Attachment added: "acroread_firefox_workaraund.tgz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571247/+attachment/2617072/+files/acroread_firefox_workaraund.tgz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571247 Title: acroread remains zombie, so pdfs won't be rendered anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nspluginwrapper/+bug/571247/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 571247] Re: acroread remains zombie, so pdfs won't be rendered anymore
This is not a mozilla bug, as far as I can see. It rather appears to be Adobe's fault. Anyway, I had the same problem and, since I could not find a solution in the web, I wrote a small workaround program.
