[Bug 204051] Re: gdesklets-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_unref()

2008-04-16 Thread Master Ar2ro
How do I force gdesklets to compile with 2.4? When I try to compile from
source, it finds python 2.5 interpreter and looks for headers for python
2.5 and not 2.4, which are the ones I have installed. The same happens
when I try to compile pygtk-2.12.1 from source as you suggested.

[Bug 204051] Re: gdesklets-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_unref()

2008-04-13 Thread Master Ar2ro
In my case, after changing the files to use python2.4 I got the following
output on the console:

The log file might help you solving the problem.

The log contains only one line : Log messages of
/home/masterar2ro/.gdesklets/logs/gdesklets%3A0.0.log so basically it
does not solve the problem.

[Bug 212251] [NEW] gcalctool does not start on hardy amd64

2008-04-05 Thread Master Ar2ro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

It simply does not start on my hardy installation. Crashes with a
SIGSEGV. Does not start the bug report tool on a crash. I installed it

it started earlier. I attach a backtrace made according to the wiki.

[Bug 204536] Re: sound volume always resets to 100% after reboot

2008-03-28 Thread Master Ar2ro
Just a note before a clean install. I tried turning off the integrated sound
card, and it doesn't help. However, I noticed that only one volume is not
remembered. When I open the window and want to choose the device from the menu,
this is the list of available devices:
1. CA0106 (Alsa mixer)
2. mixer00 (OSS mixer)
3. Playback: ALSA PCM on front: 0 (CA0106) via DMA (PulseAudio Mixer) -- this
one causes problems
4. Capture: Monitor Source of ALSA PCM on front: 0 (CA0106) via DMA (PulseAudio
Mixer)
5. Capture: ALSA PCM on front: 0 (CA0106) via DMA (PulseAudio Mixer)

I choose the 3rd device (and this is the one that the volume is not
remembered). It has only one channel available (Master). When I change
the volume of the CA0106 device, it is remembered and does combine with
the Playback one (if I set the volume of CA0106 to 50%, and the Master
on 3rd device will remain at 100%, the final volume will be 50%, but the
applet will still show 100%). After restart the volume of CA0106 will
remain at 50%. But if I go the other way around (set the CA0106 to 100%
and the Master on 3rd device to 50%, the final volume again is 50%) and
restart the system, the volume of the 3rd device is reset to 100% and
the volume is back at 100% after reboot. That generally describes the
entire problem I have. Now on to a clean install ;)

Nothing changes after doing a clean install from today's (march 28)
image (hardy-desktop-amd64.iso). Device 3 (list in comment above)
channel Master is reset to 100% on reboot, and mixer applet incorrectly
shows volume as muted when it's not (happens randomly but very often).

Mixer (the game Pingus - I decided to give a try to a few random

will probably try a clean reinstall of the system in a few days with the

[Bug 158133] gutsy livecd doesn't boot

2007-10-28 Thread Master Ar2ro
Public bug reported:

Gutsy 7.10 LiveCD desktop amd64

When I try to boot the CD I see the Ubuntu menu and logo, select start
or install and usplash shows up, it stays that way for a while, starts
loading and then the screen changes to black, it seems it's probing the
resolution or something like that, as the screen resets over and over
again, somewhere in between a screen full of colorful dots appears, then
goes black again, and then I end up with a black screen with blue
stripes at both sides and a cursor shown in the middle. That's it.
Nothing more happens. Completely unusable. Doesn't even display the
desktop.

I'm using Aristo Slim 430. External LCD screen plugged in. Wireless card
ON. I'm running a normal installation of Feisty 7.04 without major
problems and I remember a version of gutsy before the beta booting just
fine on the exact same configuration.

[Bug 96084] Re: boot - /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

2007-04-09 Thread Master Ar2ro
Here's the dmesg from the boot from my DVD drive (with kernel option
irqpoll). As far as I know I don't have a jmicron controller ;) Not to
mention any SATA support at all. It's a pretty old machine.

Now that I think about it, by the working setup you might mean my
working edgy installation, so here's the dmesg from this one as well ;)

[Bug 96084] Re: boot - /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

2007-04-07 Thread Master Ar2ro
Mark: No, I didn't disable the floppy, I'll try it a bit later today. I
did boot without the quiet and splash options, but it scrolls damn fast
during the boot so I can't really keep up with all those messages, and I
don't know how to scroll back up once I'm in the initramfs prompt. I did
even boot with the debug kernel option but the debug log didn't help me
too much. Is there a way to get all those boot messages to a file
available from the initramfs?

[Bug 96084] Re: boot - /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

2007-04-07 Thread Master Ar2ro
dmesg doesn't work under busybox, I already tried that. I made a few
photos with my mobile phone though they're low quality. Right now I'm
downloading the today's daily image, and I'll get to testing right after
I get it. I attached the few LQ photos I made, though they won't be much
help probably.

[Bug 96084] Re: boot - /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

2007-04-07 Thread Master Ar2ro
Ok, I tried the most up-to-date image and here's what I got:

1. The situation is exactly the same trying out of the box. It runs on my CD
drive, but fails and ends in initramfs prompt when booted from my DVD drive.
2. I tried looking through the messages as far as I could go, and there was
*no* modprobe abnormal exit, so as far as I can tell, that's not the case for
me. Something else is failing.
3. I tried the solution suggested in the bug 84964 you pointed, and indeed,
adding `irqpoll ` to kernel options solves the problem of booting from my DVD
drive.

I copied over the logs and lspci outputs from both boots (from CD and
DVD drives) so if you need any of those just ask.

Also, since I booted from the DVD without the splash and quiet options I
also found two more things:

1. There is a failed action during system shutdown, i.e.
`* Unmounting temporary filesystems...
umount: /cow not found [fail]`
2. When the CD is ejected at the last stage of the shutdown, pressing ENTER
doesn't work, it just appends ^M and does nothing more... is input ignored
without usplash running?

Well that's about it, if you need any more info or testing just let me
know.

[Bug 33492] Re: hwdb-gui glitches if network is down.

2007-04-07 Thread Master Ar2ro
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 18125 ***

Additionally, when no network connection is present, the hwdb-gui
crashes if you still try to send the data.

[Bug 96084] Re: boot - /bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

2007-04-06 Thread Master Ar2ro
I believe I have a similar problem, but I fail to notice the modprobe abnormal
exit, or it doesn't happen in my case. There are other things as well:
1. The 7.04 LiveCD boots only from my CD drive (IDE Slave) but not on my DVD
drive (IDE Master) (April 4th image). This happens always. Whenever I boot from
my CD drive it tries the floppy a number of times and then boots ok, but when I
try to boot from the DVD drive it tries the floppy a whole lot more and then
fails with the well known error message.
2. If I wait a bit I get the following error messages:
[ 60.101981] ata2.01: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x4)
[ 95.974137] ata2.01: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x4)
[ 131.706301] ata2.01: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x4)
[ 136.705051] ata2.00: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x40)
3. Looking through the init and casper scripts I understand they are looking
for a loop device in /sys/block, but the only items I have there are:
ram0 - ram15 fd0 sda sr0
sda - my hard drive, sr0 - my dvd drive, my cd drive is not there (though not
needed when the LiveCD is in the DVD drive)
4. comparing the output of udevinfo from my HDD and DVD drives, the DVD seems
to be missing information: The E: ID_SERIAL is empty and E: ID_SERIAL_SHORT
contains unreadable characters, while they are both ok for my HDD

[Bug 3731] Re: Xorg can't load another resolution

2007-02-04 Thread Master Ar2ro
I've encountered this bug with Feisty Herd 3 LiveCD. It seems thought
that it only appears when I reboot from Windows XP to LiveCD. When I
reboot from my Edgy installation, the LiveCD correctly detects and sets
up the resolutions.

Ok, this was a misconfiguration. Changing from digital to analog sound
output solved the problem.
