[Bug 175825] Gutsy broken sound: logs collected on a Dynabook AX480LS

2007-12-12 Thread Maxkun
Public bug reported:

Good morning everybody.

I am probably not the first person to report this bug. I followed the
instructions on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSoundProblems
and collected three log files I'd like to submit. I hope they can be helpful in
addressing this issue (not any sooner than after the Hardy release, I
understand?)

Behaviour: I can hear sound on Feisty, but after a while it will get
stuck on a sound and loop it endlessly (very much like a badly scratched
record... I hope you get the idea, sorry I'm a bit awkward at describing
it as I'm not a native English speaker). On Gutsy, after installation I
found the output muted. I unmuted it, unmuted every channel, tried
different mixers but could not hear anything.

I am attaching alsa-info.txt, lspci-vvnn.log and uname-a.log Thank you
very much for your attention.

Just a personal PSI am a happy and passionate Ubuntu fan. I trashed
all proprietary software from computers at home and at work (I am the
caretaker of a control system laboratory) and replaced it with Ubuntu.
Works like a charm and never had a problem with it. (Well, except for
ATI hardware... every time I let the restricted drivers manager install
the fglrx video driver it wouldn't work, but I always managed to get it
working by hand installation) So I would really like to express my
greatest kudos to the whole Ubuntu community - I have bought a very
smart Ubuntu T-shirt from the canonical shop, and I would like to know
if there is any other way I can contribute. As for this laptop, it's my
fiancee's. It breaks my heart to see her use Windows and wait 8 minutes
for startup (not to mention malware and things) so if anyone could drop
me a hint about how to fix or work around this problem, I would be
REALLY really grateful./RANT
