[Bug 1427033] Re: lubuntu 14.04.2 x64 - Full freeze of system on Amilo A1650G Laptop

2015-03-11 Thread MetzKetz
Possible that I have found the error.

I said at the beginning, there is no problem with the temperature. Was
perhaps a mistake.

Have Windows 7 is installed for testing. It is noticeable after a while,
the surface of the laptop is a little cooler.

It looks as if the power-saving features in open source Radeon driver are not
complete.
As a result, the graphics card under Linux is much hotter than under Windows.

Unfortunately there are propietary drivers no longer support the old
card and the newer driver does not run on current xserver version.

I can not directly check the temperature unfortunately. The card has no
sensor.

Have googled and found some information. Especially for Dynamic Power
Management, which is not standard 'activated in 14.04 despite the
contrary statement.

sadly it does not help when activated manualy.

last supported ubuntu version of closed source driver is 9.00.
Will test in the next few days. But is a little old for my taste.

2015-03-08 Thread MetzKetz
Which?
SysRq don't work. no reaction.

/var/log/kern.log.0 does not exist.

SSH freezes at same time with system

netconsole is a bit over my head.

what i could try is to get the crash kernel working (systematically eliminate
additional kernel parameters).
What will take a few days. A new week and little time.

Or did you mean a particular technique?

2015-03-08 Thread MetzKetz
I would love to but can not. Have linux-crashdump installed but it does
not work. I can with "echo c> / proc / sysrq-trigger" cause a crash ,
but the system does not restart and does not create a dump or a log.

And when the system freezes, neither.

Have now also tested Linux Mint. The same behavior.
x86 or x64 makes no difference. Memtest86 also ran for 6 hours. no errors.

Very confusing.

[Bug 1427033] [NEW] lubuntu 14.04.2 x64 - Full freeze of system on Amilo A1650G Laptop

2015-03-01 Thread MetzKetz
Public bug reported:

hello

have here the problem is that the system completely freezes suddenly
after 10-30 minutes. the mouse does not move and the keyboard stops
responding. not even SysReq Magic Key work.

in rare cases shows at the same time a graphic error. e.g. white / gray
horizontal stripes.

the system is a standard Lubuntu installation. I added only minitube.
and no settings changed.

on the same machine was previously the last Manjaro version installed and
exhibited the exact same behavior.
my guess is a kernel bug. but I am total beginner.

for comparison runs Windows XP Professional x64 on same machine without
any problems.

an overheating problem can I exclude. under normal use the laptop is indeed
warm but not hot.
sensor shows a maximum of 65 ° C. what is completely in normal range.

exact same behavior with Manjaro (arch derivative).
win xp x64 Professional on same system run without problems.

guess so this is a kernel problem?

[Bug 1193639] Re: [Fujitsu Siemens Amilo a1650g] randomly freeze of sysem during use a battery

2015-02-28 Thread MetzKetz
regards

I suspect I have a very similar problem.
have Lubuntu 14.04 x64 installed on a Amilo A1650G and experience regular full
freeze of the system.

running with power suply or battery makes no difference. the freeze
always takes place between 10 and 30 minutes. the whole system is
paralyzed. open a virtual console does not work. REISUB also does not
work. need to shut down per power button.

have installed the linux-crashdump package but need further instructions. which
informations / files you need?
is /var/crash/_usr_bin_lxsession.1000.crash the right one?

i'm total beginner but ready to learn and follow every order.
