[Bug 387281] [NEW] grub not installed after installation [karmic]

2009-06-15 Thread Michael Greifeneder
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I tested Kubuntu Karmic Koala Alpha 2 - 64 bit in a virtual machine using
Virtual Machine Manager with kvm and the configuration that works for Jaunty.

Installation from LiveCD was fine telling me I should restart. During
shutdown I got the message that some Endpoints are not connected.
Nevertheless I restarted the VM, but system could not be started

I get this mesasge:
Boot failed: could not read the boot disk
FATAL: No bootable device.

Maybe a problem with the new Grub2? Which kind of information should I
provide?

Mike

[Bug 372131] Re: networks doesn't work after suspend to ram (forcedeth) [jaunty]

2009-05-10 Thread Michael Greifeneder
Hi,

Now I'm back at home.
So I did again start the command apport-collect -p network-manager 372131.
Then I see this page in firefox: Authorize application to access Launchpad on
your behalf and I select Change anything. Afterwards an Almost finished
page is displayed. Nothing happens afterwards.

Should it matter, that I use Kubuntu?

[Bug 372131] Re: networks doesn't work after suspend to ram (forcedeth) [jaunty]

2009-05-06 Thread Michael Greifeneder
Hi,
the command does not work, if there is no network connection. See my attached
result.txt.
So I tried after reboot, but even after allowing Change Anything, the process
goes to
Almost finished ... page and nothing happens for at least 5 minutes.
How should this work?

Regard,
Mike

[Bug 372131] [NEW] networks doesn't work after suspend to ram (forcedeth) [jaunty]

2009-05-05 Thread Michael Greifeneder
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I have an Asus M3N78 Pro motherboard with an onboard network card which uses
the forcedeth driver. After suspend to ram no network is available.
I have read some other reports and tried already to add
SUSPEND_MODULES=forcedeth. No luck with that.
I'm adding more information about my machine. Maybe someone else can spot the
problem.

Regards,
Mike

[Bug 25966] Re: NEW PACKAGE: Printer drivers for Brother needed

2008-07-01 Thread Michael Greifeneder
Hello, I can confirm that my HL-2030 printer works perfect with package
'brother-cups-wrapper-laser' in Hardy.
As far as I have read these packages are not installed automatically when a
printer is connected. When I connected my printer via USB before I had
installed the packages I got a message that my printer is now configured and
ready to use. However it was set up with as Raw Printer and printing didn't
work.

Can someone or should I? open a bug for Intrepid that these packages are
installed automatically and model set correctly?

[Bug 49521] Re: Screen locks up black on laptop lid close.

2008-06-07 Thread Michael Greifeneder
Hello, I had the same problem on my Thinkapd X41 after upgrading to Hardy.
'sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phighxserver-xorg' solved the problem for me. It has
removed almost everything from xorg.conf and uses a default configuration.
However it starts in correct resolution and Google Earth, Mplayer and
Frozen-Bubble work. So nothing to complain on my side.

[Bug 220607] [NEW] suspend to ram doesn't work after upgrade to hardy

2008-04-22 Thread Michael Greifeneder
Public bug reported:

Suspend to Ram worked with my laptop (IBM Thinkpad X41) since Dapper or so. At
least with Gutsy it worked without problem.
I upgraded to Hardy and now it fails to freeze with this message:

Freezing failed after 20 seconds. 1 task refused to freeze: khubd.

Sometimes it works a few times after a reboot.

Please guide me which output I should post.

[Bug 95863] Re: Intel 945 Video 1680X1050 resolution display outside physical dimensions of the monitor

2007-07-07 Thread Michael Greifeneder
I have the same problem as described by Directrix1. I have a Thinkpad X41 and
an external TFT monitor with a 1680x1050 resolution. However monitor menu
information tells me that my monitor is running 1400x1050.
I see the same artifacts. Without anti-aliasing it looks really ugly.

xrandr shows that used resolution is 1680x1050
*0 1680 x 1050 ( 427mm x 267mm ) *60

I can resize firefox with a web developer add-on to 1680x1050 and firefox is
displayed fullsize.
Can it be that there is an internal resolution and the displayed resolution on
my monitor is different?

Is there any progess on this?

My system:
Ubuntu feisty fawn
Card: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML
Installed driver: xserver-xorg-video-intel

[Bug 103542] Re: no sound after upgrade to feisty

2007-04-06 Thread Michael Greifeneder
After I muted those senses I heard a very loud noise, a whistle. I
realized that all input devices were at 100% level. I reduced them and
switched off senses again. Now sound works. I can hear sound again.

OK, I didn't know that these switches are that important. I didn't
change anything after upgrade and when you only hear a loud whistle you
would keep it as it is.

Thanks.
