[Bug 1864991] [NEW] Lost wifi after cold restart: Intel 9462

there was no WLAN interface any more.

Looking into https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage I decided
that the most propably package is ubiquity.

[Bug 989189] [NEW] Installing 12.04 crashes virtualbox and host

2012-04-26 Thread Michael Schwartzkopff
Public bug reported:

When I try to install 12.04 desktop 32bit in my virtual box the screen
gets immediately black and I get no reaction any more.

Not only that 12.04 crashes my virtual box but also my host system. I
have to switch off the computer and to power it on again.

VirtualBox on my lucid is 4.1.12, just updated to the latest version
available.

What can I do to trace which command causes the crash?

No. With the no-acpi option I can install lucid, but after the first boot it
still crashes. Blue bars start to move from left to right but after 20% of the
size the virtual machine crashes.

Re: [Bug 322894] Re: Update to kernel 2.6.27-11 crashes virtualbox

2010-03-12 Thread Michael Schwartzkopff
Am Freitag, 12. März 2010 18:18:12 schrieb Jeremy Foshee:
 Hi Michael,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
 available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

Hi,

I tried already with alpha3, but the problem remains.

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
 Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

 apport-collect -p linux 322894

No, I cannot create such a bug report since it is not possible to install the
machine.

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
 results.

 Thanks in advance.

No, no install of lucid possible. Sorry.

Greetings,

[Bug 508777] Re: virtualbox: Lucid alpha2 does not boot

2010-02-14 Thread Michael Schwartzkopff
Hi,

It seems to be a kernel bus in 2.6.32. I updated my VirtualBox to
version 3.1.4 (sic !) which includes a workaround for a bug in the
2.6.32 kernel, virtualization part. See bug 6100 of virtualbox.

Not alpha2 of lucid boots, well at least I see other problems.

So I think this problem should be solved upstream.

Greetings,

Michael Schwartzkopff.

[Bug 90681] Re: resolv.conf overwritten using VPN/PPP etc...

2009-02-09 Thread Michael Schwartzkopff
Hi,

When I started my notebook looking at the log entries I saw something like:
resolvconf: unable to remove (...)/eth1/resolv.conf. File system read only.

This entry does not appear in dmesg and syslog. But the behaviour is
reproducable evey system start. Perhaps this helps fixing this annoying
bug.

Thanks.

[Bug 90681] Re: resolv.conf overwritten using VPN/PPP etc...

2009-02-05 Thread Michael Schwartzkopff
Hi,

I think I get the same problem here on my 8.10. I connect to different
wireless LANs with my notebook. I also use openvpn and vpnc. My problem
ist, that dhcpcd somehow REMEMBERS its resolv.conf configurations and
still applies settings from different WLANs or VPNs when I connect to
new WLANs.

I have to edit my resolv.conf every time manually.

[Bug 323075] [NEW] Update to kernel 2.6.27-11 make supend to RAM unusable

2009-01-30 Thread Michael Schwartzkopff
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-11-server

Hi,

after upgrade to kernel 2.6.27-11-server Suspend to RAM doesn't work
any more on the Compaq nx8220 notebook. It worked before with 2.6.27-9.

- Putting the notebook to sleep is OK. Power LED is blinking fro mtime to time.
- Waking it up starts normal: HDD LED flashes and power LED also is switched on.
- But then nothing. Dark screen and no reaction to any key any more. I have to
switch off the computer and reboot it.

Please mail me how can I help you in tracking this bug further.

Michael.

[Bug 322894] [NEW] Update to kernel 2.6.27-11 crashes virtualbox

2009-01-29 Thread Michael Schwartzkopff
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-headers-2.6.27-11-server

Hi,

I just upgrades to kernel version 2.6.27-11. After restart virtualbox version
2.1.2 fails to start. Searching a little bit in the internet I tried to
/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup
Recompiling the kernel virtualbox module failed with the error log

It seems the kernel module recompile doesn't find the correct kernel
headers. uname -r says 2.6.27-11-server but there is no package called
linux-header-2.6.27-11-server for MY architecture (i386). I only find a
package for x86_64 architecture.

This bus already is solved in KDE 4.1.4 and 4.2.0. See:
