[Bug 655479] Re: People Nearby account cannot send messages

2011-02-15 Thread Michael Walton
Nope; the only firewall in the network is the one built in to the
router, and it hasn't given me trouble on previous versions of the
software.

[Bug 667430] Re: Hp Tx2510us synaptic touch pad does not work properly after it has been disabled/reenabled

2010-10-29 Thread Michael Walton
Alright looking through the Xorg log it said that my touchpad was mapped
to /dev/input/event11 so that is what I used evtest for. Evtest didn't
do anything when turning the touchpad on and off, which I don't think it
is meant to, but just in case it didn't. It showed values for clicking
and moving every time I turned the pad on and off, so I think it is
still getting the inputs no problem. When in Gnome I can click on menus,
and they will get highlighted, but will not open, and once I click away
from the window I was currently in I can't interact with anything
afterwards including the window that gave me limited functionality. The
only interaction I can make is making the menus of the Gnome toolbar
highlight (but not actually open).

Alright it has been happening, and I got an output in a VT for
/proc/bus/input/devices finally. I also want to note that when it

[Bug 667430] Re: Hp Tx2510us synaptic touch pad does not work properly after it has been disabled/reenabled

2010-10-27 Thread Michael Walton
Upon making sure everything in what I said was accurate I tried
disabling and reenabling the touch pad again, and it seems to affect my
ability to use anything on the gnome desktop, but if i have an internet
browser window open I can still affect it with my actions. The keyboard
will not even work on anything on the Gnome desktop as well as the
touchpad *or* the wacom touch screen. I just wanted to make sure that
was clear. Restarting X fixes everything though via the
ctrl+alt+backspace.

When I right click on a Yahoo! contact and change the alias it will
change the name, but will revert back to the original contact name once

[Bug 652602] [NEW] SD Cards not being read by Ricoh R5C822 memory stick host adapter

2010-09-30 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu Lucid my card reader worked no problem, but now I get all
sorts of errors in dmesg any time I try to stick in an SD card. The card
is a microSD which works fine in a usb adapter plugged in to the laptop
though. No card I try works though since the upgrade from Lucid.

I'd also like to point out that dmesg is claiming it detected an xD
card, when in fact I was putting in a microSD card in an SD card adapter
that came with the microSD storage device

[Bug 651494] [NEW] Empathy user invoked status change to invisible causes status change to busy instead

2010-09-29 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When I chose invisible from the indicator menu it changed my empathy
status to busy, which at first I thought was a bug in libindicator1, but
choosing invisible from the empathy main window does the same thing, so
the issue seems to be with empathy. The other status changes all seem to
work fine except for invisible. You click on invisible from the drop
down menu, and it selects busy instead of invisible.

[Bug 645735] [NEW] Rhythmbox search by typing in to window does not work correctly

2010-09-22 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The search entry box under the song progress works correctly, and in the
Genre, Artist, or Album windows if you click on one of them and type in
what you are searching for it works correctly, but in the Maverick
versions of rhythmbox the song listing (bottom half of the Rhythmbox
window) the type to search functionality is broken.

If I have a song title that starts with Monday for example typing in
monday will just go to the middle of the song list highlighting the
first three letters of whatever song happens to be there, and will not
do anything else.

strcmp needs to be put in it's place people it's acting up.

I'd attach a screenshot, but when typing in to the rhythmbox windows
outside of the search entry box the print screen button cancels it out.

[Bug 615185] [NEW] Empathy chat notifications do not appear until you open the chat window

2010-08-08 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

[Bug 611422] [NEW] Evolution mail address autofill feature does not work correctly

2010-07-29 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

What works is when I type in the partial name of a contact stored in
evolution, and let the client autofill the best match, and then hit
enter to use whatever selected address (either the first, or by using
another of multiple choices). What does not work is when that same
contact is used by typing in the email address instead of the name. An
example is when sending an email to my wife's work I can just type in
the first few letters of her name, hit enter, and it's good, but when I
type in the first part of her work email, and let the client fill in the
rest and hit enter this happens:

C, ammie Lastname em...@address.com --with the cursor placed in the
same position you were at when you were typing, which in this case was
before the first a in the first name.

Interestingly enough though in a new message window it will only do this
the first time. After having it do this once if you select all and re
type in the same few first letters to let the autofill happen and hit
enter it will enter in the address in the proper format, and even place
the type cursor at the end of the address.

This will obviously make the message not get sent correctly, and is a
totally easy thing to fix yourself every time you put in the address,
but I figured I would file a bug on it even though it doesn't really
cause any sort of major functionality issues lol.

[Bug 611469] [NEW] Gwibber not sending or receiving facebook messages

2010-07-29 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

Sending messages to facebook using Gwibber will not succeed, and gwibber
will not receive any updates from facebook. If I delete the account and
start over it will pull all the current messages from facebook, and then
it will not receive any messages after that thereby repeating the same
behavior. I don't know if it has send and receive issues with any other
accounts as I have only been trying it with facebook, but I can't get it
to do anything, and I don't know how to check if it is something wrong
with gwibber, or with using desktopcouch to store the messages, or what
but if there is something you guys need just let me know.

[Bug 608417] [NEW] WPA_supplicant cannot connect me to WPA encrypted networks

2010-07-21 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wpasupplicant

Unencrypted networks work no problem using wl supplied by Lucid, but the
wpa_supplicant will not let me associate with encrypted networks. Using
the bcmwl-kernel-source driver from ubuntu 9.10 will let me connect to

to connect to the WPA network.

[Bug 606785] [NEW] Gwibber won't publish messages to facebook

2010-07-17 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Gwibber won't publish my messages to facebook. Here is the output I get
when running gwibber-service -d -o and just trying to start it up and
post a message to facebook. It always seems to send the message alright
from the GUI, but when checking the actual facebook page the message
never appears. Lucid version of gibber does facebook messages fine for
me though.

[Bug 606545] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)

2010-07-17 Thread Michael Walton
Seems to have fixed all of the issues I was having with that thrown in
to grub. Previously (if the OS would even boot up) the default keyring
was not getting unlocked, and plymouth was not viewable, as well as the
wireless network card not being able to connect to anything, but all of
this seems to work fine now. I've rebooted a bunch of times, and haven't
seen an issue; I will let you guys know about anything else wierd that
goes on though. Thanks a lot man.

[Bug 606545] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)

2010-07-17 Thread Michael Walton
Nevermind. I rebooted once more, and apport popped up for another kernel issue.
Still though everything else seems to behave a lot better. The issue is one
I've already reported, and this is the only thing so far that pops up instead
of countless crash reports like before, which was general protection fault:
 [#smp] or something like that

[Bug 606441] [NEW] Ubuntu Maverick sound is choppy during video playback

2010-07-16 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Video playback in totem of .h264 encoded video gives me choppy sound
whereas mplayer does not give me this issue. I don't know if this is
something in particular with gstreamer or pulseaudio though, because in
Lucid I had issues with sound being choppy on any video player using any
codecs; the only way I got that issue to stop in Lucid was to use the
gallium drivers from the xorg edgers ppa for my radeon card, and use
mplayer with X11 as the video output mode otherwise video playback from
any source of any encoding gave me problems. Right now though like I
said it seems like only totem is having an issue with any hd video files
I have; the video will play fine with cpu usage being nearly nothing
whereas the sound will be awful. Switch to mplayer, and it's fine.

[Bug 606530] [NEW] Ubuntu One music store won't connect to make purchases

2010-07-16 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store

I can't buy music from the store. It just eternally hangs on the
connecting dialogue when I hit the checkout button. Trying to get to the
checkout button while adding all of my stuff to the cart had to be done
like 5 times too because it kept freezing :( Rhythmbox would work fine,
but I would have to disable then re enable the Ubuntu One plugin from
the list in order to try to order music again. Oh and suggestion: get
more trance music lol. There is a lot on there don't get me wrong, but
artists like Nitrous Oxide, and Bart Claessen only have a handful of
items when they have done a ton of work. Places like iTunes suck ass
when it comes to having any good artists in this genre, and the Ubuntu
One store gave me a good surprise when I saw they had as much on there I
hadn't been able to find for purchase anywhere else.

[Bug 606530] Re: Ubuntu One music store won't connect to make purchases

2010-07-16 Thread Michael Walton
I finally got it to go; I think it might have had some issue with the
ubuntuone client not wanting to connect, but I don't know since it
didn't say anything except for just hanging on the connect screen for
like 20 minutes before I gave up. I am not sure if it might have been
trying to synchronize or what was making the store not want to connect.

[Bug 602973] Re: Photosmart c4500 will not communicate with hplip properly

2010-07-14 Thread Michael Walton
Doing an upgrade from lucid seemed to not cause an issue with my
printer, because now it works whereas before I tried it using the alpha
2 of maverick with all the updates and it wouldn't work. Here is the hp-
check log from now; it complains about a few missing dependencies but
the printer works anyway. I had to reinstall my system from last time so
I don't have any of the logs from then :(

[Bug 604132] [NEW] Rhythm box controls in volume indicator applet do not work correctly

2010-07-10 Thread Michael Walton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-sound

I don't know if this is a new feature for maverick, or that I have just
been to oblivious to notice it previously, but it is a really cool

button.

[Bug 604132] Re: Rhythm box controls in volume indicator applet do not work correctly

2010-07-10 Thread Michael Walton
I also had a suggestion; it's not really a bug, but if rhythmbox is
going to be shown in the volume indicator it would be neat to be able to
to not have the status icon plugin enabled in rhythmbox and still be
able to close the rhythmbox window without it exiting the program (since
it would just use the place in the indicator instead of the status icon
plugin).

[Bug 602543] Re: Empathy cannot log in to facebook account

2010-07-09 Thread Michael Walton
It works now; I already had the badge set up, but it wasn't working
before. Now it connects no problem.

[Bug 602534] Re: Empathy cannot send messages to msn contacts, but can receive them.

2010-07-08 Thread Michael Walton
It works fine in lucid, but it does happen all the time with the version
I have now, and it started when I upgraded my lucid install to the dev
version using update-manager -d. I noticed it because my wife was upset
with me because she was sending me messages (and I *was* responding to
her lol) and she wasn't receiving anything from me. Anyways if there is
anything you guys need just let me know. Thanks a lot for all the hard
work too!
