[Bug 874591] Re: this is bug 658864 as reported for 10.10 and is still affeting 11.10
Apologies for the dupe, but I just followed the procedure the error reporting tool in the 11.10 live image took me through. The bug I encountered is a dupe of 658865. I have added a comment in that bug to reflect the fact that it is still effecting 11.10. Perhaps then, this is a bug in the error reporting tool that it gave me no option to add this to an existing bug, but when it said it wanted to send an error report, it really just walked me through creating this bug report. A new user, who is used to windows, or really any other error reporting tool, where you fill out your description and it ships it off quietly, the need to log into launchpad and deal with something like this is not good. If I were an inexperienced user, ran into this install bug, and then had to create a sign in for lanuchpad to report it, I'd give up and be back in windows. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874591 Title: this is bug 658864 as reported for 10.10 and is still affeting 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/874591/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 658865] Re: Install from USB fails: An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed
Seriously, how is this still a bug 3 releases later? Can Ubiquity not just skip this script gracefully if it fails and continue through to finish the install? Also, I didn't have this problem with either beta install of 11.10, just now with the final release. Ubuntu 11.10 i386 desktop USB created with unetbootin-555 on Windows 7. @Borim - it's under the name terminal and if you search for that in the launcher, you'll be able to run the workaround command. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658865 Title: Install from USB fails: An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/658865/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
