[Bug 208718] Re: nvidia-glx-new driver displays white screen of death

2008-04-26 Thread Mikael B
The drivers at NVIDIA's site are the same as nvidia-glx-new. Is there
any reason for trying them? I have the same problem. White screen, thin
black horizontal lines near the bottom and a gradient vertical blue to
gray bar appearing near the middle of the screen after a few seconds.

[Bug 208718] Re: nvidia-glx-new driver displays white screen of death

2008-04-26 Thread Mikael B
Hei Ola,

I installed the BETA driver after uninstalling everything related to
NVIDIA in Ubuntu and I'm up and running again. I have not tested the
external monitor yet, but will on Monday. The laptop monitor now works
as expected.

[Bug 147682] Re: [xps1330] microphone built-in doesn't work

2008-02-08 Thread Mikael B
Kenneth,

I installed linux-backports-modules and rebooted. The sound volume was
now at 100% and I was unable to decrease it nor change sound device from
Preferences-Sound or the Sound Volume applet. I was however able to
decrease it to 97% through the volume keys on the PC. Sound recorder
would not open and complained something along these lines: The sound
recording settings are not correct. Please correct these in Multimedia
and retry

I removed linux-backports-modules and I'm now back to my old volume
settings as well as being able to change the volume. The mic is of
course still not working.

Should I try enabling gutsy-proposed and try with the packages in that
repo? Is there any chance it will help?

I have an XPS M1530 running on amd64 and have the same problem as others
have reported. Is there an amd64 linux-backports-modules?

[Bug 186805] Re: [XPS M1530] Internal microphone does not work

2008-02-08 Thread Mikael B
This kernel will probably not be available in gutsy. AFAIK there will be
no major upgrades from the current kernel version to a new kernel
version in gutsy. I believe we will have to wait for Hardy which is
about 2 months away.
