[Bug 1624320] Re: systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries

2017-04-17 Thread Mike Loebl
I appreciate Vincent's post. I upgraded to 17.04 and DNS resolution has
been absolutely terrible; slow, failed lookups, etc. Finally realized
it was using 127.0.0.53 as the resolver. I did the method 2 above and
DNS back to normal.

[Bug 1502635] [NEW] bonded interface not starting automatically

2015-10-04 Thread Mike Loebl
Public bug reported:

Upgraded over 15.04 to 15.10 Final Beta. Have a LACP bonded interface
with two NICs. Using NetworkManager to handle the NIC bonding. After
upgrading to 15.10, the bond0 interface no long auto starts when the
system comes up. If I manually do a ifconfig bond0 up, it will start.
As a workaround I added this to rc.local, but not sure where to look to
see why it's failing in 15.10.

[Bug 1314367] Re: 10de:0cbc [HP EliteBook 8540w] Flickering with Ubuntu 14.04

2015-03-08 Thread Mike Loebl
Not that's it's a realistic resolution, but noticed this week when
upgrading from a 570 GTX to 970 GTX card, the flickering so far seem s
to have gone away. As a work around for the flickering within the
NVidia server settings I'd set the Preferred Mode to "Maximum
performance". However I haven't had to do that yet with the 970 and
fine in "Auto". Also noticed it went from 3 to 4 performance levels as
well and it has no problem being at the lowest level unlike the 570.
I'll make sure to report back if it reappears and not just "lucky" and
not seen it.

[Bug 1228079] Re: Login issue: Lightdm + LDAP + Kerberos

2013-10-25 Thread Mike Loebl
After I put in the symlink for initctl into /bin path above and could log in, I
ran into an issue where I was having odd errors like not authorized in the disk
tool, and Network settings within UI were inaccessible, etc This is beyond the
other weird issues with the path stuff from above... I found an old bug here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/likewise-open/+bug/1162836

I had the same problem where after I finally logged in, my $PATH variable was a
ways off from what the local user. Per that bug, I updated
/etc/pam.d/common-session and made the following change the line:
session sufficient pam_lsass.so
to:
session [success=ok default=ignore] pam_lsass.s

After a reboot, my path was ok, and everything seems to be working as
normal again. I am going to test removing the symlinks that were added,
as I suspect with the path fixed, they may not be needed. I will report
back what I find.

[Bug 1228079] Re: Login issue: Lightdm + LDAP + Kerberos

2013-10-25 Thread Mike Loebl
Ok, I may have a workaround (not sure yet of any side effects or what
else could be broken...)

Since we did the symlink to /bin/init, this is what .Xsession looks like as we
know:
init: unity-gtk-module main process (3055) terminated with status 127
init: logrotate pre-start process (3053) terminated with status 127
init: dbus pre-start process (3056) terminated with status 127
init: ssh-agent pre-start process (3054) terminated with status 127
init: ssh-agent post-stop process (3062) terminated with status 127

If you look at ~/.cache/upstart as your LDAP based user, you'll notice in log
files for dbus, etc for errors, sure enough the error is it can't find initctl:
/proc/self/fd/9: 3: /proc/self/fd/9: initctl: not found
/proc/self/fd/9: 3: /proc/self/fd/9: initctl: not found
/proc/self/fd/9: 3: /proc/self/fd/9: initctl: not found

I added a symlink from /sbin/initctl to /bin like we did with init, and
I am now able to log in again.

Does anyone know a good work around? If I manual edit the config file for bond0

it keeps the change (obviously until I try to make a change in NetworkManager

Bonding Mode: load balancing (round-robin)

Upgraded to 3.8.8 and HDMI audio is working fine.

If using the NVIDIA downloaded drivers with Raring and the 3.8.8 kernel, you

[Bug 1169761] Re: 3.8.0-18 Kernel causes HDMI Audio to stop working

2013-04-17 Thread Mike Loebl
Confirmed 3.9 resolves problem, tag added. I was unable to test with
the new NVIDIA 319.12 driver, but reverted to nvidia-current and it
worked fine.

[Bug 1169761] UdevLog.txt

apport information

** Attachment added: "UdevLog.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1169761/+attachment/3646060/+files/UdevLog.txt

** Description changed:

Was using Raring 13.04 with kernel 3.8.0-17 with NVIDIA HDMI Audio via the
NVIDIA 319.12 drivers. When upgrading to 3.8.0-18, HDMI is no longer listed
within Sound Settings or pavucontrol (only item listed with Dummy.) Switched
over to the ubuntu nividia-current driver, same problem. Rolled back to
3.8.0-17 and HDMI audio again works correctly. What files should I attach to
assist with this? I can roll back/fourth between the two to get anything
required.

[Bug 1080656] Re: bluetooth-wizard crashes when the name of a discovered device is NULL

2013-03-20 Thread Mike Loebl
I updated to 13.04, and I can now add the mouse that was crashing 12.10
before thru bluetooth-wizard. However, I do lose the mouse at some
point (still trying to determine why it disconnects at some point, but
may be unrelated to ubuntu.)

[Bug 1080656] Re: bluetooth-wizard crashes when the name of a discovered device is NULL

I should note I am seeing this on Ubuntu 12.10 x64 on a desktop pc, not
the Nexus 7 as original bug was logged as.

[Bug 1080656] Re: bluetooth-wizard crashes when the name of a discovered device is NULL

2013-01-31 Thread Mike Loebl
I believe am seeing the same problem trying to pair a Microsoft
Bluetooth Wireless Laser Mouse 8000 as it shows just the hw address, and
if I select it, it crashes. Also interesting to note this device I
believe has no PIN, though not sure if that matters.

I have attached the backtrace (hopefully I did this correctly.) If I
add a Bluetooth device that has a name (such as my phone), it pairs no
problem.

[Bug 1024884] Re: Bluetooth with AR9462 WLAN/BT-Combo don't work

2013-01-30 Thread Mike Loebl
Neil -
The issue I am seeing with bluetooth-wizard crashing is this one:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-bluetooth/+bug/1080656

However the work around to let it sit in post #8 makes no difference for
me unfortunately.

[Bug 1024884] Re: Bluetooth with AR9462 WLAN/BT-Combo don't work

2013-01-10 Thread Mike Loebl
I finally got it to build and work with 12.10 after re-reading post 61
(thank you!) Also, had disabled wireless thru the gnome app as I am
using Ethernet. However doing this also disabled Bluetooth for me.
Following post 61 and enabling wireless got it going for me.

On a side note, now stuck with another issue the bluetooth-wizard
crashes once you select the device :( Looks like a common issue with
12.10. At least now I got farther.

What are the odds you can spin a version for 12.10 to try out?
Thanks!
