I seem to have got this same bug on my laptop running 32-bit Ubuntu 8.04.1. This Ubuntu was upgraded too from Feisty so the issue might come from that for some reason. I agree this should be fixed soo. The fix is easy to apply (was posted in #1) but it might be not so easy for a new Linux-user.
