[Bug 741869] Re: Unity/compiz intercepts Super and Alt keypresses from grabbed windows like VMs.

2013-01-14 Thread Mr. Blonde
My workaround for now is to install a minimal window manager like
awesome and use that when I'm working with virtual machines (you can
select your window manager from the login screen). It'll only need a few
extra MB and that way you don't have to bother with bad workarounds in
Unity.

[Bug 1047674] [NEW] Banshee exports filtered playlist instead of full playlist

2012-09-07 Thread Mr. Blonde
Public bug reported:

banshee 2.4.1-3ubuntu1~precise2

When you filter a playlist to only play a part of it and then export the
playlist, only the filtered part will be exported. This could
potentially lead to data loss, as the option indicates that the full
playlist will be exported.

[Bug 853187] Re: Renaming a file selects the whole filename

2011-09-20 Thread Mr. Blonde
it works as described there, do you get the issue on any file?

Happens with all files.

1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter
the problem:

I don't think I did anything to cause this. Is there even an option to
change the behaviour? As far as I remember, it's been like that since I
installed Ubuntu 11.04.

2. the behavior you expected

I expect it to do what is says in the Ubuntu website: When you rename a
file, only the first part of the name of the file is selected.

3. the behavior you actually encountered

It just selects the whole file name, for all files. There's not much
else to it that I could describe in detail.

[Bug 847428] [NEW] Network connection keeps dropping

2011-09-11 Thread Mr. Blonde
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.04

The network connection under Ubuntu is slow and keeps dropping after a
few packages have been sent. After a few seconds the connection first
becomes slow and then it starts dropping packets until connecting or
even pinging internet/local machines isn't possible anymore. This lasts
for a few minutes or until after a reboot, then it starts all over
again.

It only affects one PC, not the other Linux PC on the same network. Also
happens when booting different live distributions. BIOS reset didn't
help. Router reset doesn't help. The network card is a Realtek PCIe GBE
Family Controller onboard card, mainboard is a Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3.

This all started happening right after installing Windows 7 on another
hard disk on the same system, which works perfectly.

Had my computer freeze again yesterday without running gnome-do. It was
the first time this happened since I reported this bug though (~2 weeks)

much more often.

[Bug 610916] [NEW] gnome-do causes keyboard and mouse to freeze

2010-07-28 Thread Mr. Blonde
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu Lucid
gnome-do 0.8.3.1+dfsg-1ubuntu1

I've had my keyboard and mouse lock up once or twice a day in Lucid
until I recently noticed that when gnome-do crashes (it does that
sometimes), there are no more freezes. I've tried re-enabling gnome-do
and the freezes were back. Now that I have it disabled everything is
fine again, so I can say that gnome-do is almost certainly the problem
here.

The other problem is, there's nothing in the logs when it happens.
Keyboard and mouse just freeze and I have to use the power button to
shut down/restart. The only thing that appears in the logs is the power
button being pressed and the subsequent shutdown, no error messages at
all.

  Ubuntu Lucid

- I've had my keyboard and mouse lock up once or twice a day in Lucid until I
recently noticed that when gnome-do crashes (it does that sometimes), there are
no more freezes. I've tried re-enabling gnome-do and the freezes were back. Now
that I have it disabled everythig is fine again, so I can say that gnome-do is
almost certainly the problem here.

When I start an MSN multi chat (chat with 3+ people), there's no automatic line
break in the box where you enter the message. The message window horizontally
expands the more I type.

2010-06-03 Thread Mr. Blonde
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: compiz

  Release: Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid
  Compiz version: 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15

When minimizing programs to the tray with compiz enabled, the windows are
moved down a bit every time they're restored, until they eventually hit the
bottom of the screen. Programs that showed this behaviour so far:

  XChat
  SMPlayer (with tray icon enabled)
  JDownloader (external source)

The preferences of the Compiz Place Windows plugin have no effect on
this, it even happens with the plugin disabled. No problems at all with
  Metacity.

Expected behaviour: Windows should be restored at the same position they were
minimized at.

[Bug 385175] Re: Empathy: ICQ Authorisation doesn work properly

2010-05-24 Thread Mr. Blonde
I can confirm this bug/missing feature. Adding contacts that require
authorization doesn't work. It looks like Empathy/Telepathy doesn't send the
authorization request properly.
In my case the contact, after being added, was shown as offline (despite being
online). Re-adding several times did not help. The solution was to use Pidgin's
re-request authorization.

I also wonder why things that effectively make Empathy useless get a
low importance, but that won't bother me anymore. Back to using
Pidgin...

[Bug 582478] [NEW] MSN offline, but Empathy doesn't notice

2010-05-18 Thread Mr. Blonde
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Release: Ubuntu 10.04
Package Version: 2.30.1-0ubuntu1

I just had MSN disconnect for whatever reason and Empathy handled it very
poorly.

- I was disconnected (netstat confirmed this, no MSN connections)
- the MSN contacts were still displayed as online and there was no notice about
it being disconnected
- closing and restarting Empathy did not reconnect, yet the MSN contacts were
still displayed as online (Empathy was indeed closed, not minimized to tray)
- all my messages to MSN contacts were simply dropped without any errors. They
show in the log, but were never sent

What I expect to happen:
1. Empathy should automatically reconnect
2. Empathy should show an error message when sending a message failed

[Bug 574856] [NEW] windows wander down the screen when minimizing to tray with compiz enabled

2010-05-03 Thread Mr. Blonde
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Release: Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid
Compiz version: 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15

When minimizing programs to the tray with compiz enabled, the windows are moved
down a bit every time they're restored, until they eventually hit the bottom of
the screen. Programs that showed this behaviour so far:

XChat
SMPlayer (with tray icon enabled)
JDownloader (external source)

The preferences of the Compiz Place Windows plugin have no effect on
this, it even happens with the plugin disabled. No problems at all with
Metacity.

Expected behaviour: Windows should be restored at the same position they were
minimized at.

[Bug 455073] Re: A mouse pointer keeps reappearing during video playback in smplayer

2009-11-13 Thread Mr. Blonde
Has someone noticed/reported other bugs about SMPlayer on Karmic about
playback? It often refuses to play after pausing (you need to stop the
file and press play again) and with me playback with sound muted isn't
possible at all.

I had the same problem, setting the audio output driver from alsa to
pulse fixed it.

[Bug 224276] Re: nautilus unable to open properties from context menu of an .mkv file

2009-09-13 Thread Mr. Blonde
I'm running Jaunty and have a file that causes the same error, so this
bug is not entirely fixed. It's an .avi file encoded with XviD. Trying
to open it with Avidemux causes an error too, so maybe the file is
damaged. However, that shouldn't prevent Nautilus from handling it
correctly.

[Bug 394053] [NEW] VLC player broken (Jaunty)

2009-06-30 Thread Mr. Blonde
Public bug reported:

There's a major messup with VLC in the jaunty repos.

- I changed the VLC interface to Qt
- VLC wouldn't start anymore (segfault)
- I removed VLC and all dependencies and reinstalled
- the problem persists

Obviously, changing the option shouldn't render VLC unusable in the
first place, but that's not a big deal. After a complete removal and
reinstall however, VLC should work again. Synaptic either fails to
remove all the config files, or the install is broken.

[Bug 157759] Re: Compiz causes OpenGL fullscreen games to eventually go windowed.

2009-02-19 Thread Mr. Blonde
Same here and it definately isn't related to gnome-screensaver. The screensaver
issue is another well-known problem, just deactivate it.
Disabling Unredirect Fullscreen Windows makes the game run really slow for
me, so I just start it with a script to deactivate compiz while the game is
running. You can deactivate/reactivate the screensaver the same way.

metacity --replace
~/GAME_FOLDER/xxx.i386
compiz --replace
exit 0

[Bug 316801] [NEW] updated services are re-activated

After running a system update, the updated services are automatically
activated, even if they were deactivated before the update.

netstat after recent update:
