[Bug 862146] [NEW] LightDM don't reacts on keyboard when cursor is on second monitor(which is default position)
Public bug reported: I have usability problem with LightDM. When Ubuntu boots I see LightDM on primary(left) monitor and black screen on secondary(right) monitor. Cursor is few pixel on right monitor(and was in previous Ubuntu release since I remember). In GDM that was not a problem since input was accepted anyway, but to enter password in LightDM I must move my mouse to the left monitor before I start typing password(otherwise there is no reaction). This slows down boot because user must move hand from keyboard to mouse and back again, but more importantly is confusing(does my keyboard work?). [Bug 441210] Re: boot and gdm wallpaper is not dithered
I still easily see banding, especially on left/ride sides in the middle. It can be even more visible if you bump digital vibrance (for example in nvidia-settings),but I see it without vibrance. I have to zoom out the picture to ~20% of original size to make it unnoticeable. My monitor is Samsung 2443BW 1920x1200. My friend says that he also clearly see it on 22'' 1680x1050, but this image look good on some cheap 19'' 1280x1024 office monitor. I got this problem after yesterday update of usplash and nvida packages. I don't have vga=791 in grub2 boot line, but changing splash to nosplash fixes it for me. [Bug 148659] Re: scrot can't save files
Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 RC or later? yes it is reproducible on ubuntu 9.04 64, but this happens because file have no extension. scrot accepts files with extension like .png .jpg .tiff .bmp (haven't found any other but may be more) to decide type of the file. I think that we could: -save as png if not extension is given -don't save but write an error in more friendly way like: Saving to file foo failed. [Bug 341677] [NEW] timed login logs default user in, even though somene already logged as non default user
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm First time it happened to me on Ubuntu 8.10 64bit on some HP laptop with c2d and intel GPU, but I don't remember what I've done exactly . I managed to reproduce it this later on my computer this way: Preparations: -Enable timed login (I'll call this account defUser, I used 10second login offset but it shouldn't matter) -If you don't have any other account create it. (I'll call this account ndUser) 1.Log in as defUser. 2.Log in concurrently as ndUser using fast user switch 3.open some window(this step is not needed, but its easier to know latter which session it is) 4.switch back to defUser 5.log out defUser At that moment you should see GDM with counting seconds not a blocked screen of ndUser 6.login as ndUser, it will unlock his screen(you will see app from step 3 ...wait you will be autologged to defUser(login counter probably wasn't stopped by login). You can switch to ndUser using fast-switch-applet without being asked for password(your app from step 3 should be still there). Separate Xservers maybe? Tested on vmplayer Ubuntu 9.04 alpha 5 32bit with all current updates(virtualized on ubuntu 8.10 64 c2d e4...@2.4), and on ubuntu 8.10 64(natively, same machine, nvidia 8600GT GPU). There was a small difference in my configuration however. On my native installation I set GDM to autolog me to KDE4.2, so I had to choose gnome manually on startup, rest of the steps was same, but in the end I only heard KDE welcome sound and I could switch to it by alt+f10). ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: gdm timedlogin -- timed login logs default user in, even though somene already logged as non default user https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/341677 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It's not only laptop problem. Lag occurs about two times a week, but I don't have idea how to trace it...using console with on screen keyboard is quite hard for me.
