[Bug 1947434] Re: Windows always open across monitors in a multi-monitor setup
This setting (center-new-windows) was already set to false. I have Gnome Tweaks installed and this was one of the first settings I checked. This setting can be true or false; it has no effect. Curiously, the behavior changes if I use the "Dash to Dock" extension instead of the "Ubuntu Dock". With "Dash to Dock", the app window remembers it's size and position better (i.e. If I move the window to the primary monitor and resize it, it opens up at the same size and place). With "Ubuntu Dock" enabled, the window always seems to randomly open on the secondary monitor, or get resized, or straddles the two displays as previously reported. Firefox and Terminal, in particular, always open with their window straddling the two displays. If I move the app window to the primary monitor, close it and reopen it, it goes back to straddling the displays. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947434 Title: Windows always open across monitors in a multi-monitor setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1947434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1947434] [NEW] Windows always open across monitors in a multi-monitor setup
Public bug reported: I have a laptop (Dell XPS 13 9300) connected to an external USB-C monitor (Dell U2719DC). Ubuntu 21.10 Impish is installed, although this problem existed under Ubuntu 21.04 too. If I log in using Wayland (the default), the initial window position of any app is always in the middle (half on the internal display and half on the external monitor). No setting that I have found appears to be able to change this behavior. If I switch to Xorg, this problem does not exist. With Xorg, the app window always opens on the primary monitor (the external one, in my case). This is the preferred behavior. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947434 Title: Windows always open across monitors in a multi-monitor setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1947434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1163886] Re: software-center crashed with signal 5 with the GNOME3 PPA on 13.04
The workaround suggested by Tim (post #31) works for me too. Now if only someone could suggest a workaround for ubuntu-tweak crashing, I'd be all set... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1163886 Title: software-center crashed with signal 5 with the GNOME3 PPA on 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-center/+bug/1163886/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
RE: [Bug 1163886] Re: software-center crashed with signal 5 with the GNOME3 PPA on 13.04
The software-center crash only occurs with Ubuntu 13.04 GNOME 3.8.x (specifically, after installing gnome-shell and ubuntu-gnome-desktop from the GNOME 3 PPA). I have another computer that has Ubuntu 13.04 GNOME 3.6.x and on that system, both software-center and ubuntu-tweak do not crash. -Original Message- From: boun...@canonical.com [mailto:boun...@canonical.com] On Behalf Of Rodney Dawes Sent: Monday, June 24, 2013 9:54 AM To: najeeb_an...@hotmail.com Subject: [Bug 1163886] Re: software-center crashed with signal 5 with the GNOME3 PPA on 13.04 The commenting of the suggested line makes no sense, looking into the code. It is completely unrelated to the display of images which are downloaded. Even with that line commented, the featured items exhibit images will still be downloaded, and will still be displayed. The FeaturedExhibit() is a simple object, to let the software center display a default featured items image, while none have yet been downloaded, or in the event there are none to display. It does not connect to the network, or depend on any cached images. It points at an image file which is included directly in the software-center package, and which should always exist. Removing the cache directory as mentioned, also does not induce a crash for me, albeit I am on 13.04 and not using the GNOME 3 PPA. Is there a way to reproduce this crash on 13.04 without the GNOME 3 PPA? -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to a duplicate bug report (1189326). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1163886 Title: software-center crashed with signal 5 with the GNOME3 PPA on 13.04 Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: software center crashes when I open it ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: software-center 5.6.0-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-16.26-generic 3.8.5 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-16-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 CrashCounter: 1 Date: Wed Apr 3 14:15:24 2013 Disassembly: = 0x7f104ac4f2c5: Cannot access memory at address 0x7f104ac4f2c5 ExecutablePath: /usr/share/software-center/software-center InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-10-23 (161 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal - Release amd64 (20121017.5) InterpreterPath: /usr/bin/python2.7 MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all ProcCmdline: /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/software-center Signal: 5 SourcePackage: software-center Stacktrace: #0 0x7f104ac4f2c5 in ??
