No sense to report Windows cases (I feel that it's not the scope of Ubuntu bugs website). I've been suffering this problem with SSHFS mounts too in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (today Ubuntu 14.04.5 and LibreOffice 4.2.8.2). The only way to edit documents and have usable menus is to disconnect all SSHFS mounts. As slower SSHFS mount is, slower LibreOffice works. A workaround for each place, already mentioned: 1. Invoke trash creation, deleting something. 2. Show hidden elements in folder, to trash folder be shown, for example, with the name .Trash-1000 3. The only thing to add is to make Delete key to remove permanently by default.
