[Bug 646954] Re: failed to load 32bit ibus immodules (im-ibus.so)

2010-12-20 Thread Nexos
YMMV, but I found this useful:
https://launchpad.net/~micove/+archive/experimental?field.series_filter=maverick

As the disclaimer says, however,

DO NOT ADD THIS PPA!

This ppa contains unreleased builds that should be moved to a different
ppa once they build correctly. This helps for packages that build fine
in Debian but fail in Ubuntu.

But it worked for me, so you may give it a try if you're desperate...

[Bug 524454] Re: Networking is disabled on boot (usually after suspend/hibernate)

2010-09-23 Thread Nexos
FWIW, I found a PPA to get newer versions of network-manager on Lucid:
cf. https://launchpad.net/~network-
manager/+archive/trunk?field.series_filter=lucid (NetworkManager daily
trunk builds for ubuntu):

It seems to work for me, but YMMV (you shouldn't probably do this if you
are not able to fix network connectivity without the help of network-
manager, e.g. using command-line tools).

Don't complain... I give no refund in case your machine breaks :p

[Bug 524454] Re: Networking is disabled on boot (usually after suspend/hibernate)

2010-09-21 Thread Nexos
I don't really think Low is an appropriate priority level. I would rate it as
High since there's no obvious workaround (disabling/re-enabling networking via
the applet is simple enough, but does not work consistently).
So basically, for a standard user, the only remedy is closing any application
and rebooting... this is not really appropriate IMHO since
1. Lucid is a LTS release
2. People tend to use standby a lot nowadays, so are likely to encounter this
behavior one time or another

Using Lucid x86_64

Not only that, but some flash applications freeze as well after a while,
so it's a rather important/annoying bug

[Bug 374907] Re: *** buffer overflow detected *** abort in MrmOpenHierarchyPerDisplay()

2009-08-12 Thread Nexos
I haven't seen that bug on debian web page either... the big problem is that
libmotif3 hasn't been updated for years (since the bug was fixed somewhere end
2005/start 2006).
A simple package upgrade should resolve the issue... don't know why it hasn't
been done yet, though

2009-08-12 Thread Nexos
Actually the http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=494375
(libmotif3: new version available upstream; 08 Aug 2008) is still
unclassified (as all other reported bugs).
Maybe this package is not really maintained anymore in debian...

[Bug 51043] Re: rightclick - paste missing in contextmenu when pointer is above files/folders

2009-06-26 Thread Nexos
Yeah. I totally agree.
Fixing such annoying bugs should be priority #1 above making new feature.

It's just an annoyance for people coming from Windows... last time I was
trying to convert someone from windows, and that made a bad impression
on him... it was just an annoyance

[Bug 390171] [NEW] gitk should depend on 'meld'

2009-06-21 Thread Nexos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gitk

On Ubuntu Jaunty i386

In the default gitk view, select a file in the patch view.
Select a file, and right-click + External diff
= it complains about not finding the 'meld' command

Hence, gitk should depend on 'meld' (or at least recommend it)

[Bug 386259] [NEW] git-cola should depend on xxdiff

2009-06-12 Thread Nexos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: git-cola

On Jaunty,

when using git-cola git gui and trying to get some diffs, it tries to
use the external visual diff tool xxdiff.

Hence, git-cola should depend on xxdiff (or at least recommend it)
Alternatively, git-cola default configuration should use another tool

Configuration:
- Ubuntu Jaunty i386
- standard package git-cola 1.3.5-1

[Bug 374907] [NEW] *** buffer overflow detected *** abort in MrmOpenHierarchyPerDisplay()

2009-05-11 Thread Nexos
Public bug reported:

When a UIL-based program calls MrmOpenHierarchyPerDisplay(), it is immediately
aborted with *** buffer overflow detected *** message.

This problem has already been reported and fixed on RedHat: a test case (which
I tried) and a fix (which I didn't (yet)) are available:
See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=166144

Happens with Jaunty (didn't occur in intrepid)
Default Linux 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009
i686 GNU/Linux

2009-04-04 Thread Nexos
After some investigation, klavaro starts up when LANG is set to fr_FR.UTF-8 for
instance, but not for fr_BE.UTF-8.
Oddly enough, you still can select a belgian keyboard in the program.

This looks like a regression (it worked OK in hardy/intrepid);
