The output of "gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd" is : layouts = [fr oss,fr,us,epo] model = options = [grp grp:ctrls_toggle] overrideSettings = true Is it normal that the keyboard model "fr oss" has a tabulation in its name? (ASCII character 0x09, I checked with "hd") That seems weird to me. I played with the settings and I discovered than when I check the box "Both Alt keys together change group." then the problem disappears! I have the "Generic 105-key (Intl) PC" keyboard model (I think it was selected as default during the install).
