[Bug 1740792] Re: Automatic login still requires user password after suspend/hibernate

2018-01-18 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
To a normal user I'm pretty sure that it would be a UX issue, even
though technically it's different between login and unlock, UX wise it
isnt. If a user reboots or suspends the computer they wouldn't expect it
to behave differently, a lot of people don't even understand the
difference between a system suspend and shutdown. Please reconsider the
priority of this issue. Thanks!

[Bug 1740792] [NEW] Automatic login still requires user password after suspend/hibernate

2018-01-01 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 17.10
Release:17.10
gnome-control-center 3.26.2

When I set Ubuntu to automatically login a user the user still has to
enter their password when resuming from a suspended session. The only
option I can find to fix this is to disable the lock-screen completely,
which I don't want to since I still want it to be an option to manually
lock it. Setting Privacy > Screen Lock to off doesn't affect this
behavior at all.

The solution seems to be to use dconf-editor and change
org.gnome.desktop.screensaver.ubuntu-lock-on-suspend to false. I got the
solution after asking on askubuntu.com:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/990056/turn-off-requesting-user-
password-after-suspend-17-10

[Bug 1277972] Re: Fullscreen in Gnome 3 does not work (workaround inside)

2014-08-04 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
I tried Rubens devilspie workaround but get this error when launching
the fullscreen window of netflix:

(devilspie:9838): Wnck-WARNING **: Received a timestamp of 0; window
activation may not function properly.

Anyone know why I get this? Somewhere I read that this was related to
metacity... I'm just using stock GNOME-Shell 3.10 on Ubuntu GNOME 14.04

[Bug 898870] Re: Grid placed window overlaps the adjacent viewport

2013-07-01 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
I can still reproduce this in 13.10. The edge of the window is still
visible on the next workspace. If you put right a window and move to
the next workspace it's still visible in the alt+tab switcher. It
doesn't behave like this 100% of the times now when I'm testing this,
more like 50%, I'm not sure if it has something to do with what window
is focused when you switch workspace. Although it's clear that this
issue still exists.

[Bug 998911] Re: Can't open dash when no windows are open, if not my cursor is on the launcher/panel

2013-06-18 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
I've found that the reason for the dash not being able to open is that I
disabled the file manager's handling of the desktop. By enabling it
everything works again. I have no idea why the issue is related to that
or why this also causes the top panel to lose it's shadow.

[Bug 1097172] [NEW] Can't use password containing spaces in it's smtp-configuration

2013-01-08 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Public bug reported:

I use ssmtp to send mail via my GMail-account. At first I didn't
understand why it wasn't working but after some troubleshooting I
understood that it was because I use a password containing spaces. It
don't help to wrap the password in ', or [ ]. Therefore I was forced
to change my password to a string without passwords which is far less
secure (http://lifehacker.com/5796816/why-multiword-phrases-make-more-

[Bug 1094841] [NEW] Often when copying large file over cifs mounted network share nautilus freezes after a while

2012-12-31 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Public bug reported:

I have a couple of network shares mounted in my system which are shared
with samba. When I copy to/from it to my laptop, which have the share
mounted in the file system with cifs, nautilus freezes and gets
unresponsive, but most of the time only after a while, not immediately.

When I access the mount by navigating to smb://share/ it never freezes
though. Perhaps it's using a different file system driver? I've had this

[Bug 1056348] [NEW] Uninstalled torchlight and USC reported success while no files were removed

Public bug reported:

I recently installed Torchlight as a part of the Humble Indie Bundle 6

and Ubuntu Software Center completed the uninstallation with no errors

I first noticed this because Torchlight was still in the applications

[Bug 1034080] Re: no About menu item

2012-08-09 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Just to correct things. Marlin is no longer developed by the Elementary
team. The maintainer had some issues with the Elementary project and
they decided to continue the development under the name pantheon-files
instead. Pantheon-files is now a much better product than Marlin due to
a much more rapid development pace and strong leadership. So don't
consider Marlin, consider Pantheon-files.

[Bug 901196] [NEW] Eye of GNOME can't show .nef images properly

2011-12-07 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10 x64
eog 3.2.0-0ubuntu1

When I open .nef images the application can only display the image in a very
small, low resolution format, just as if it loaded the thumbnail into the image
viewer instead of the proper photograph.

I first reported this in the GNOME bugtracker:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=665373

There I got the reply:

Felix Riemann [eog developer] 2011-12-07 12:08:24 UTC
Well, I'd say that depends on how good you are at compiling stuff yourself.
If you're not so good at it, you should open a Launchpad ticket for libopenraw
and request the inclusion of the loader and possibly an update to the latest
package version.

Alternatively, the sourcecode to libopenraw is there:
http://libopenraw.freedesktop.org

For building you'll need at least the development packages for boost and
gdk-pixbuf installed. Then it's a standard autotools build.

Doing make install should install the loader at the right position.

Remember though that I'm not an Ubuntu user, so things might be different over
there.

But I have no idea how to do any of this since I'm just a user reporting
a bug, not an ubuntu developer.

[Bug 886834] [NEW] Feature request: There should be back and forward buttons

2011-11-06 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Public bug reported:

The program kind of loses it's practicality when you can't go forward or
backward in the contents of a folder. Why it's been designed this way
remains a question but I would like that the feature should get
implemented since I use it when I want to preview an image and that I
just can't click next to see the next one is really irritating.

[Bug 859056] Re: Sometimes when programs has dropdown windows the unity launcher gets visible

2011-09-26 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
I installed the latest 32-bit beta in virtualbox and updated it
completely, enabled guest additions and 3d-rendering. I installed
CompizConfig Settings Manager and set the launcher to only dogde the
active window under the Unity Plugin. Unfortunately I didn't get further
since I couldn't get the new value set, CCSM always crashed when I tried
to set the mode dodge the active window. I hope this doesn't occur in
11.10 since it's really annoying in 11.04.

[Bug 859056] Re: Sometimes when programs has dropdown windows the unity launcher gets visible

2011-09-25 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Version: Ubuntu 11.04, 64-bit
Unity Version: (I don't really know how to find this but this was the
information in USC) 3.8.16-0ubuntu1~natty2 (unity)
Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 (fglrx)
Clean install: Yes
When did the problems start: As soon as I opened libreoffice calc and got
working with it (system has been installed for about a week)
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open CCSM and set the launcher to only dodge active windows.
2. Open libreOffice
3. Maximize it
4. Select a cell and either set borders or add a background color so that a
little drop down menu opens.

[Bug 790591] Re: More effective launcher area with the workspace switcher and the trash relocated

2011-06-22 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Since the AppIndicators can be the same size or even smaller I guess
that the current size on my mockup wouldn't make such a big impact
though if the appLauncher get's resized to a smaller width I know that
it might get troublesome. That's why it's just a mockup and I think that
an idea like this needs to be reviewed by the Ubuntu design team.

And the trash positioning may need some research on how and how often
people access the trash, I myself usually do it from within nautilus.

[Bug 775474] [NEW] Home folder launcher can't open when copy dialogue is open

2011-05-02 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

When a copy dialogue is open and no file browsing windows I can't open a

[Bug 775591] [NEW] Software Center purchase not enabling me to install program, even though I get billed

2011-05-02 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

I was trying to purchase Volley Brawl from the Software Center and both
times I've tried it the purchase hangs at Purchasing Volley Brawl...
Purchase authorized. The Application itself doesn't hang, I can
interact with it. But a confirmation never loads. Now I've been billed
twice for a game I haven't been able to download. Fix this please.

[Bug 766647] Re: Natty - Windows MCE remote triggering events to lirc and as a keyboard making mythtv frontend unusable

2011-05-02 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
how exactly is this fix supposed to be implemented? I'm relatively new
to linux and I could need some further explaining. What I did to try to
fix this problem is that I added the line echo lirc
/sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols in /etc/rc.local before the exit 0
command. Is this the correct way to implement this since my remote still
sends keyboard inputs (Antec Veris rm200, not MCE)?

[Bug 775618] [NEW] Lirc is conflicted by some default ir-controlling module so that it only sends keyboard input

2011-05-02 Thread Niklas Rosenqvist
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lirc

I've tried to find a solution for this problem for some time. Apparently
Natty loads some default modules for handling IR-input and sends them as
keyboard input instead of the lirc event I want. This makes my remote
useless in XBMC (media center program) since I cannot use it for
anything else than navigation (the actual lirc installation isn't on
this computer, it's on my htpc without a browser or desktop). A proposed
solution is in this bug report
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/766647) but it is
regarding a MCE remote and it doesn't work for my Antec Veris rm200.
Until the ubuntu-devs make a permanent fix please tell me how to unload
all the conflicting modules?
