[Bug 1460618] [NEW] package ubuntu-extras-keyring 2010.09.27 failed to install/upgrade: underprocessen installerade post-installation-skript gav felkod 2

2015-06-01 Thread NiklasW
Public bug reported:

Got a large number of W: GPG-errors: http://security.ubuntu.com trusty-
security Release: The following signatures could not be verified to open
the open key that is not available: NO_PUBKEY 40976EAF437D05B5 NO_PUBKEY
when trying to sudo apt-get update. Tried to dowload them all
again, but didn''t help. Then i tried to sudo apt-get install
--reinstall ubuntu-extras-keyring, but then this happened, and tthere
was an error trying to reinstall that package, so now that install is
incomplete. It told me that the subprocess installed post-installation-
script returned error code 2, and E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned
an error code (1)

Note that some of my error-messages are in swedish, so some of this is
just a rough translate. If you could help me resolve this, that would be
much appriciated.. I can be reached at p...@niklaswallenius.se for more
info.

Flagged as a security vulnerability as I am now forced to install
packages without authentication.

[Bug 1342119] [NEW] Enable auto monitor off

2014-07-15 Thread NiklasW
Public bug reported:

This is request, not a bug.

On Xubuntu 14.04, lightdm-gtk-greeter is used in in conjunction with
light locker. When leaving the computer, user can hit ctrl+alt+del to
lock the screen and thus stopping others from accessing the computer.
However, all screens remain switched on for an indefinite amount of
time. It would be preferable if the screen switch off automatically
after a minute or so, or after a user-defined amount of time.

[Bug 414489] Re: Feature request: dynamic range compression

2014-07-04 Thread NiklasW
I'm sure there must be tons of people who would want this, they just
don't know about it... I just thought the sound in Ubuntu is flat, and
the only thing I miss from Windows is Breakaway Audio Enhancer. Then I
found something called audio compression in VLC, which seemed to be what
I missed.. But like all else here, I would like this to work system-
wide!

[Bug 892333] Re: Playing error : Resource not found. at /usr/bin/../share/gmusicbrowser/gmusicbrowser_gstreamer-0.10.pm line 135.

2014-01-17 Thread NiklasW
While this issue isn't entirely just because of an error in
gmusicplayer, wouldn't it seem like a really good idea to look over the
start-up process of gmusicplayer, and make sure it automounts all usb
drivers? I was tearing my hair out before i figured out what was wrong
myself.

[Bug 1234448] Re: Encoding errors in gmusicbrowser_1.1.10-0ubuntu1

2013-12-31 Thread NiklasW
Good to see that there is a patch for this, but how do I get this into
my program (gmusicbrowser). Being a total newbie on Xubuntu (my 1:st day
on Linux..) I really don't know how to use this.. Where do I go, what do
I download, what then..? :)

Basically I googled: gmusicplayer Ã
that's how I found this, and that's the level I'm at! :)

Greatful for assistance!

[Bug 157777] Re: gutsy amd64 freeze crash lockup

2008-06-28 Thread NiklasW
Update from me (feel free to request more date if needed)

I thought I avoided the freezing by removing my nvidia card, the system
has worked OK for a wile now. But now after chaning the driver to my
internal AMD X1250 card to the fglrx driver I got back to old issue
connected with the 4GB ram.. did a lot of testing back and forth... got
kernel errors and error saing something like CPU0 locked/freexed process
1234 for 11 sec (just before the whole system froze).

Then I removed 2GB (leaving 2GB on the system). Everyting worked great
again... no change to any drivers or anything. I would bet that the
system would now also accept my nvidia card without problems. My
conclution (or thougt) is that the issue is that something in the system
(kernel, or a module??) does not handle 4GB RAm in a correct way. ( I
did test with a diffrent disk (installing XP on it) and the system ran
just fine (with 4GB ram). Reminder my issues started when moving from
1GB to 4 GB...

Feels wrong to have a 2GB of RAM on the table.. not on the system...

2008-04-25 Thread NiklasW
OK - Cannot get it sovled...

1. I did the patch command as stated above.
2. I have done a copy from the source files to the accuall diffrent catalogs
3. I ran ./autobuild.py
4. tested with and without kernel / HW acceleration

Still cannot get passed the storage step.

Ps. I have sucssesfully created a virtual mashine with qemu and started
it with kvm outside of virt-manager (my CPU is a AMD X2 4400+, and I am
running x86_64 version of Hardy)

[Bug 221746] Re: Assigning storage space fails if acceleration enabled

2008-04-25 Thread NiklasW
Work around until this is fixed:

use virt-install from the consol, this could be used for a Windows setup
(update paths):

$virt-install -n WinXP -r 1024 --file /home/user/virtual/winxp.img
--file-size=5 --sdl --accelerate -c /path/to/install.iso --os-
type=windows --os-variant=winxp

use man virt-install for more info

[Bug 157777] Re: gutsy amd64 freeze crash lockup

2008-04-15 Thread NiklasW
Same problem here, system freezes after 2 - 10 min.

Started after I added more RAM.
Everything worked fine (no freezes past 12 months) this was when my system was
running on 1 GB RAM (2x 512).
I recently replaced the 2x512MB with 2x2GB modules. The system detects the RAM
ok, but as everyone elses explaines above the system freezes.

I did tests on the new RAM but found no errors. Then I removed my Nvidia
card - then the system worked just fine. My conclution ubuntu does not
work well with 4GB ram together with Nvidia.

My system:

Ubuntu: 7.10 Gutsy (AMD64, x86_64)
AMD X2 Dual core 4400+
2x2GB RAM (DDR2)
Nvidia 7300GS 256MB

[Bug 119730] Re: Slow SATA performance

2008-01-15 Thread NiklasW
I think my drives also act very slow. I do not know what preformance I
could expect, here is some infor:

SATA controller: ATI Technologies Inc SB600 Non-Raid-5 SATA

sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads: 1746 MB in 2.00 seconds = 873.15 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 232 MB in 3.03 seconds = 76.61 MB/sec
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo hdparm -tT /dev/sdb

/dev/sdb:
 Timing cached reads: 1248 MB in 2.00 seconds = 624.23 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 162 MB in 3.03 seconds = 53.55 MB/sec

uname -r
2.6.22-14-generic

Processor: AMD X2 +4400
Moderboard: MSI K9AG NEO-F, AMD 690V+SB600, ATX, Socket-AM2, DDR2, GbLAN, VGA

[Bug 148454] Re: htop shows about 50 console-kit-deamon processes that top and ps dont show

2007-10-23 Thread NiklasW
Is there a work around for this bug? I have the same issue on my system,
62 process of /usr/sbin/console-kit-deamon.

If I remove the fast-user-switch applet will that stop the console-kit-
deamon problem? (I did not know that I had this on my panel) will check
later if that is the case..

I understand that 'sudo killall console-kit-deamon' will clean out the
processes for now, but I guess they will come back...

The thing is that i am the only* user. Only= I have some other users
like mythtv and so on. I only use the via the console, then via 'sudo su
mythtv'.

[Bug 130873] Re: console-kit-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-10-22 Thread NiklasW
After upgrading to version 7.10 i now see 62 processes of console-kit-
deamon. So fare I have not seen any effects of this. meaning my system
runns OK for now.

Is this normal? meaning - should I have 62 process of this instans?

[Bug 103297] Re: Kernel updater doesn't update grub's menu, lst correctly

2007-07-23 Thread NiklasW
Same issue here (Feisty Fawn), I loose the correct UUID every time grub
updates the menu.lst file. This was triggered after I replaced the
system disk with another disk... ever since I get into problem with the
menu.lst file.

I do not understand the Problem solved quote above, but then again it
may be due to my knowlege (or lack of knowlege :) from how grub works. I
thing I need to make grub understand what the default value (UUID)
should be.

[Bug 103297] Re: Kernel updater doesn't update grub's menu, lst correctly

2007-07-23 Thread NiklasW
Problem solved (unconfirmed but likely)

in my menu.lst file I had 2 different kopt options defined. These
referred to my old UUID, one was a general kopt (affecting all changes)
and one was just affecting 2.6 versions of kernels.

From my menu.lst:

# kopt=root=UUID=3579f529-ca4f-4243-b6aa-f28797f6a7e6 ro
# kopt_2_6=root=UUID=3579f529-ca4f-4243-b6aa-f28797f6a7e6 ro

I have not confirmed that the issue is solved for me, but I find it
likely that it will use the new default UUID the next time and therefore
also work.. i hope :)

[Bug 117314] Re: latest kernel(2.6.20-16.28) update gives boot problems

2007-06-12 Thread NiklasW
Hello,

After upgrading to the latest kernel I aslo hade problems booting on my
SATA drive. (Current setup, 2 SATA drives and 1 IDE). I used UUID ref in
both fstab and menu.lst before the upgrade. After some investigation I
managed to get my mashine to boot, the solution for me was to update the
UUID of the drive. Meaning that this seams to have changed after the
upgrade. Due to lack of time I have not hade time to correct my fstab
yet, but I managed to get the system up and running just before I hade
to run to work this morning :)

Maybe I am confirming a fact that is already known, but if needed I can
provide additional input about my hardware.
