[Bug 1960679] Re: Dekstop icon extension can't handle moving icons to a to-be-empty spot

2022-02-11 Thread Omar Abdul'Azeez
After further investigation... it doesn't seem to be exactly what i
thought it was. It seems to be that when dragging around the lowest icon
in the selection everything else keeps getting a bigger gap between the
dragged icon and itself and that's why I thought the top icon remained
in place when dragging the bottom icon to a lower position... it just
happened to gain a gap that put it in it's previous position

[Bug 1960679] [NEW] Dekstop icon extension can't handle moving icons to a to-be-empty spot

2022-02-11 Thread Omar Abdul'Azeez
Public bug reported:

You can easily test this by setting up 2 or more icons on the desktop in
any way then moving them in such a way that one of the icons will be
moved to the spot where another icon currently is, but that other icon
is also being moved by the same action to another empty spot.

Behaviour: icons that are moved to the spot described above will stay in
place

Note: it has to do with the order the icons are moved so if you try
moving icon 1 where icon 2 currently is and they are both moved
correctly, try to move them so that icon 2 is moved where icon 1 is and
it will have issues

Ubuntu 21.10
Extension 20-0ubuntu3

[Bug 1895469] Re: KDE Connect constantly loses pairing, can't share/receive files

2020-09-16 Thread Omar Dzinic
I am experiencing this same issue when connecting between Kubuntu 20.04
and Manjaro KDE. Both devices are able to send and receive files to my
phone but not between each other. Clipboard sharing and pinging worked
fine but file transferring would appear as (Failed) on the sending
machine and would me a continuously "loading" dialog on the receiving
machine. Pairing also gets lost after a suspend/network disconnect from
either device.

Same issue.

Looks like it's the snap version of communitheme-dark.

Switched to communitheme using gnome-tweaks and got the solid-white
background back, though switching back to thedark version and the
transparent background is still there.

Note: First, I tried Mihai Banu (m-banu94) solution and then returned to
snap communitheme (not wayland)

I'm not so sure it's the same as the other two, I'll run another test
tonight. Can you recommend any other app to try? Firefox maybe?

2019-05-15 Thread Omar Bahareth
So this issue is happening when I have a single Chrome tab open (on this
issue page) and nothing else. The usage does spike up to higher than 25%
for a couple of seconds then back down to 10%-ish (one for Xorg and one
for Gnome shell, so 20% on average). My laptop fans spin quite loudly
too. I thought it might have been because I was trying a new GTK theme,
but I went back to Yaru dark and I still see the same issue.

2018-09-07 Thread Omar Alvarez
I am also having this issue, system fully updated, nvidia-driver-396,
GTX 1050Ti, kernel 4.15.0-33-generic. Also happens with nvidia-
driver-390. The fix for me was #123:

sudo service gdm stop ; sleep 5 ; sudo service gdm start

This is definitely not fixed.

[Bug 1750126] Re: major failure in startup

2018-02-17 Thread Mohamed omar
thanks Christopher for the reply, but it happens that it was a
production machine and i could not lose another day, so i swept every
thing after backup and make a fresh installation.

Yes that was after automatic update not sure which package but i do
doubt compiz, the error was that the unity fail, the title bar of all
windows, the top main bar , and the launch sidebar , also the keyboard
shortcut for language switch was not working.

i have cairo-doc which is bottom icon bar -simulate mac- it was working
perfectly.

i have trying many things. but nothing work, the idea of this could
happen again in haunting me, and i do not know what to do with update
form now on.

[Bug 1677261] Re: no lock screen with external display

2017-04-12 Thread Omar Eissa
Yes, although the lid is already closed. It happens when you have
multiple screens

The order like the following:
1) Close the lid --> open apps are shown in the second screen
2) Remove the cable of the 2nd screen ---> apps return back to the 1st screen,
although the lid is already closed
The only way that the machine will suspend in this case, is when we reach the
time limit of Automatic suspend

[Bug 1677261] [NEW] no lock screen with external display

2017-03-29 Thread Omar Eissa
Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 and my laptop is connected to an external display.
When I close my lid, all my open apps are transferred to the external screen.
However if I removed the display cable at this time then opened the lid, there
will be no logging screen and my password won't be requested.
My default behaviour is to suspend when the lid is closed but in presence of an
external display then removing the cable, the OS can't detect that the lid is
already closed.

[Bug 1591695] Re: libvirt-guest.sh will never sucessfully shutdown more than one virtual machine in my setup

2016-10-06 Thread Omar Siam
Another patch release 1.3.1-1ubuntu10.3, broke my setup yet again. I would not
complain that much but in my combined XEN + ZFS setup this prevents the system
from shutting down. It just hangs because the xen block backends obviously
don't get released if the VMs don't shut down.
I also have to say that I am worried about the xen:/// discussion. If it's
about moving the actual hypervisor URI somwhere else then fine but if you
remove xen handling than please state how shutdown should be done using other
packages.

Best regards
Omar Siam

[Bug 1591695] Re: libvirt-guest.sh will never sucessfully shutdown more than one virtual machine in my setup

2016-10-02 Thread Omar Siam
So I saw my patch is not good enough to be incorporated into the latest bug fix
release libvirt (1.3.1-1ubuntu10.2). Perhaps we should have a discussion about
it then.
If you ask me you broke my setup with your fix and I would actually like to
avoid that in the future.

Best Regards
Omar Siam

[Bug 1591695] [NEW] libvirt-guest.sh will never sucessfully shutdown more than one virtual machine in my setup

2016-06-12 Thread Omar Siam
Public bug reported:

In function list list_guests() al list of running guests for some uri is
produced which now looks like
xen:/// uuid
uuid
uuid

A list like this is processed as if the 2nd uuid etc. are uris. That
causes the script to only shut donw one virtual machine

My fix is to make the list look like
xen:/// uuid uuid uuid

Hence the modified /usr/lib/libvirt/libvirt-guests.sh .

Not shutting down the VMs correctly makes my system hang on shutdown
which is not tolerable for me.

[Bug 1577018] Re: Kernel crashes on dom0 startup when dom0_mem is set if BIOS is buggy (e. g. GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev 5.0 BIOS FA)

2016-05-24 Thread Omar Siam
Changed Mainboard to some ASUS. Works for me now.

** Summary changed:

- Kernel crashes on dom0 startup when dom0_mem is set
+ Kernel crashes on dom0 startup when dom0_mem is set if BIOS is buggy (e. g.
GA-78LMT-USB3 Rev 5.0 BIOS FA)

** Description changed:

  Description: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
  Release: 16.04
  linux-image-generic:
Installiert: 4.4.0.21.22
Installationskandidat: 4.4.0.21.22
Versionstabelle:
   *** 4.4.0.21.22 500
  500 http://at.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
I would expect the system to boot up like it did before I upgraded to xenial
When I try to boot my virtual machine host using a xenial based Xen system
(Xen 4.6, linux generic 4.4.0) it crashes immediately.
My system setup is non standard as I tried to fix the dom0 memory using
dom0_mem. This is due to this FAQ entry:
http://zfsonlinux.org/faq.html#CanIRunZFSForXenHypervisor . I use ZFS for
virutal machine disks and other storage.
The systems bios is not updated by manufacturer anymore (2013). The on board
graphics card is used.
Shared graphics memory is set to auto. Setting it to 128 MB didn't change
anything.
Using a wily kernel 4.2.0 generic or a 4.1.22 mainline kernel works.
Using a mainline kernel 4.4.8 or 4.5.2 also crashes.
A quick google search using the first crash report line leads to this
  https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/8/19/366
  and this
  http://code.metager.de/source/history/linux/stable/arch/x86/xen/
I checked that the two patches that seem most relevant here are present in
the ubuntu kernel.
Workaround is to not force a particular amount of memory for dom0 (delete
dom0_mem parameter)

[Bug 1577018] Re: Kernel crashes on dom0 startup when dom0_mem is set

2016-05-01 Thread Omar Siam
I'm pretty sure that most of the information I just added already are in the
archive I attached to my original report. Was to creative I think. Just in
case: This report was generated _after deleting the offending kernel command
line_. The nature of this bug is that a kernel later than 4.2.0 just crashes
_before being able to print anything_. This is all the log I can get:

[Bug 1577018] Re: Kernel crashes on dom0 startup when dom0_mem is set

2016-05-01 Thread Omar Siam
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected xenial

** Description changed:

  Description: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
  Release: 16.04
  linux-image-generic:
Installiert: 4.4.0.21.22
Installationskandidat: 4.4.0.21.22
Versionstabelle:
   *** 4.4.0.21.22 500
  500 http://at.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
I would expect the system to boot up like it did before I upgraded to xenial
When I try to boot my virtual machine host using a xenial based Xen system
(Xen 4.6, linux generic 4.4.0) it crashes immediately.
My system setup is non standard as I tried to fix the dom0 memory using
dom0_mem. This is due to this FAQ entry:
http://zfsonlinux.org/faq.html#CanIRunZFSForXenHypervisor . I use ZFS for
virutal machine disks and other storage.
The systems bios is not updated by manufacturer anymore (2013). The on board
graphics card is used.
Shared graphics memory is set to auto. Setting it to 128 MB didn't change
anything.
Using a wily kernel 4.2.0 generic or a 4.1.22 mainline kernel works.
Using a mainline kernel 4.4.8 or 4.5.2 also crashes.
A quick google search using the first crash report line leads to this
  https://lkml.org/lkml/2015/8/19/366
  and this
  http://code.metager.de/source/history/linux/stable/arch/x86/xen/
I checked that the two patches that seem most relevant here are present in
the ubuntu kernel.
Workaround is to not force a particular amount of memory for dom0 (delete
dom0_mem parameter)
