Thanks for reporting a bug! In order to process this report further and help pinpoint the issue, I'll need you to answer a couple of questions: 1. What release were you upgrading from? 12.04 or 14.04? 2. Where did you install NitroShare from? The stable PPA? The dev PPA? A DEB package? [Bug 871133] Re: Volume Step not changeable in Unity and GNOME desktops
"...just attached the patch done by Nathan Osman" I didn't create the patch either, though I did need to tweak it a bit to fix some compilation errors. "First I see reports (mostly in the upstream report) that people are getting 10-30% steps in volume instead of the defined 6%." I know this isn't going to carry a lot of weight but I've been running the modified package on my desktop for a couple weeks now and it has worked flawlessly. Volume always changes by the percentage I choose. One important question worth answering is whether the users observing the 10-30% jump modified the value from its default. If users leave the setting at its default value, is behavior any different? If not, then the issue only affects those who change the setting - users who are likely willing to accept the issues anyway. "Second using a linear scale for a volume slider is really not ideal, pulse audio uses a cubic scale to define volume, but from a quick glance at the source code it may be that g-s-d is plugging linear values into these structures." The patch doesn't change the expression used for calculating norm_vol_step. It merely replaces VOLUME_STEP with the value from the new setting. I've linked my branch containing the patch and uploaded a Xenial build of gnome-settings-daemon to the PPA mentioned in my earlier message with the same patch. If the patch is accepted and merged, I will do the same thing for unity-settings-daemon - but I don't want to take the time to do that now if there isn't any chance of this getting accepted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/871133 Title: Volume Step not changeable in Unity and GNOME desktops To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/871133/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1511628] [NEW] invoke-rc.d uses incorrect exit code
Public bug reported: I am using invoke-rc.d on Vivid and have observed what appears to be incorrect behavior. I have a systemd service installed that is masked and I am attempting to use invoke-rc.d to obtain its status. However, the exit code is 0, which falsely suggests that the service is running. If I run "systemctl status myservice" directly for the masked service, the exit code is 3, as expected. This makes it impossible to determine if the service is in fact running without resorting to systemd commands. I'm developing a package that runs on releases that use init and releases that use systemd. The packaging includes an init script and a systemd unit file. I need an "init-agnostic" command for restarting the service in the .logrotate file. I dug a bit into the source code and found that line 407 contains "exit 0". [Bug 1441961] Re: dataChanged signal cannot be used on ARM under certain conditions
Aha! I have found the Qt bug that corresponds with this issue: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-36129 This was fixed in 5.3.0 (which is the version Utopic ships with). However, this doesn't help Trusty users since existing applications will fail to work. Is there any chance that this fix could be backported to Trusty? [Bug 1441961] Re: dataChanged signal cannot be used on ARM under certain conditions
The old connection syntax appears to work fine. Also, I finally managed to get Utopic up and running on the device and surprisingly, the problem with my example has disappeared. However, it appears to be a compile- time issue since anything compiled with Qt 5.2.1 in Trusty still fails to work when run in Utopic. [Bug 1441961] [NEW] dataChanged signal cannot be used on ARM under certain conditions
Public bug reported: This is probably the strangest bug I have ever observed, but it is completely reproducible. When running the attached Qt application, I receive the following error: QObject::connect: signal not found in Test This error is 100% reproducible on my Raspberry Pi 2 running Ubuntu 14.04.2 (Trusty). This device has an ARMv7 CPU (Broadcom BCM2836). I cannot reproduce this error on any other hardware (x86 and amd64 have been tested). This does not appear to be a compiler bug since both g++ and Clang produce an executable that prints the above error. Here's the thing that really confuses me: the error disappears (and everything works correctly) if I comment out the "dataChanged(...)" line in test.cpp. This is completely bizarre because the line is never executed by any code. I've tried digging through Qt's headers and buried myself neck-deep in macros, templates, and MOC-generated files. I can't make any sense out of this. Therefore I am reporting it as a bug. To compile the example, enter the source directory, run "qmake", and then run "make" to build the executable. Remember, the bug only manifests itself on an ARM CPU. ** Affects: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Source code for the example" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441961/+attachment/4370042/+files/test-src.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441961 Title: dataChanged signal cannot be used on ARM under certain conditions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtbase-opensource-src/+bug/1441961/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1410470] Re: ubuntu sdk reports that email domain is too long
I did some digging in the source code to try and figure out what was going on. The relevant section seems to begin at clickreviews/cr_lint.py:430. It appears that the maintainer email is linked to the package name. Consider the following example: Name: testapp.nathan-osman Maintainer: Nathan Osman On line 443, the number of components in the email address domain is compared to the number of components in the packege name. If the former is greater or equal to the latter, an error is generated. Keep in mind that the number of components is used for determining if something is "too long" so the number of actual characters is irrelevant. [Bug 264336] Re: pgsql fails to start due to shared buffer setting greater than kernel allows
This is still not fixed. I just installed postgresql-9.1 on a brand new installation of Ubuntu 13.04 (64-bit) and received the following error when attempting to start the server: * Starting PostgreSQL 9.1 database server * The PostgreSQL server failed to start. Please check the log output: 2013-08-26 11:40:41 PDT FATAL: could not create shared memory segment: Invalid argument 2013-08-26 11:40:41 PDT DETAIL: Failed system call was shmget(key=5432001, size =41263104, 03600). 2013-08-26 11:40:41 PDT HINT: This error usually means that PostgreSQL's reques t for a shared memory segment exceeded your kernel's SHMMAX parameter. You can either reduce the request size or reconfigure the kernel with larger SHMMAX. To reduce the request size (currently 41263104 bytes), reduce PostgreSQL's shared memory usage, perhaps by reducing shared_buffers or max_connections. If the request size is already small, it's possible that it is less than your kernel's SHMMIN parameter, in which case raising the request size or recon figuring SHMMIN is called for. [Bug 1180196] [NEW] qmake -query is reporting the default Qt version as 4.8.4
Public bug reported: I have installed the qt5-default package. However, running "qmake -query" results in the following output: ... QMAKE_VERSION:2.01a QT_VERSION:4.8.4 ... It would appear as if the default Qt installation is improperly set to Qt 4.8.4 (which I happen to have installed). Running "which qmake" confirms this: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt4/bin/qmake I am currently running Kubuntu 13.04 (64-bit) which I upgraded to from Quantal. When using Quantal, I had installed Qt5 from the Qt5-Edgers PPA. However, I have removed the PPA from my system (although that was really unnecessary since there are no packages for Raring in the PPA). I have reinstalled the qt5-defaults package a number of times but nothing changes. [Bug 1179997] Re: stackapplet 1.4 broken, please bump the version in the Ubuntu Software Center
@Andrew Sadly, there were a lot of major changes made to the source code between those two releases. These include: * Switching from a GTK+ dialog for configuring the applet to an AJAX-based webpage. * Moving all blocking network calls to a separate thread. * Support for the Messaging Menu. That being said, I looked through the commits that were made immediately after the 1.4 release and revision #63 seems to be the most significant - particularly where I corrected the URL that opens when an item is selected. The old URL was retired a long time and leads to a 404 page. Hope that helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1179997 Title: stackapplet 1.4 broken, please bump the version in the Ubuntu Software Center To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/stackapplet/+bug/1179997/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1129517] [NEW] blueman package missing dependency on gnome-icon-theme
Public bug reported: The blueman applet is not functional without the gnome-icon-theme package on KDE.
