[Bug 1770528] Re: Purging of old backup - Simple cut-off is not happening
Hi, I was one of the main developers of Sbackup. I have devoted myself to other projects for quite some time now (leaving sbackup to others). Developers interested in this project come and go depending on their free time. This explains the time it took for you to have and answer to your questions. I want to praise you for the effort you put on analyzing the issue. In your example, the way you expected Sbackup to work is to do the action described bellow: 2018-04-25_22.00.11.927348.mcs-Ubuntu.ful/ <-- CUTOFF 2018-04-26_22.00.08.250440.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ <-- CUTOFF 2018-04-27_22.00.07.487993.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ <-- CUTOFF 2018-04-28_22.00.08.383888.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ <-- CUTOFF 2018-04-29_22.00.06.820683.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ <-- CUTOFF 2018-04-30_22.00.08.240341.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-01_22.00.08.232810.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-02_22.00.07.980758.mcs-Ubuntu.ful/ 2018-05-03_22.00.07.042217.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-04_22.00.08.945832.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-05_22.00.07.219102.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-06_22.00.08.145880.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-07_22.00.08.746766.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-08_22.00.08.245251.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-09_22.00.07.699726.mcs-Ubuntu.ful/ However, doing this would leave 2 *orphans backups* 2018-04-30_22.00.08.240341.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ 2018-05-01_22.00.08.232810.mcs-Ubuntu.inc/ What I call orphan backup here is a backup you would not be able to use (because you would not be able to revert a folder from it. Every Incremental backup has to have a parent (Full backup). So even with the Simple cutoff fonctionnality, we don't want you to lose the 2 incremental backups that would have been left on the disk. So Sbackup will only remove all the backups that are before the parent of the 2 inc backup. This explain the situation you got. I agree however that is not described in the documentation. I would welcome any suggestion on the way to describe it in a user friendly way. ** Changed in: sbackup (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Oumar Aziz OUATTARA (wattazoum) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770528 Title: Purging of old backup - Simple cut-off is not happening To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sbackup/+bug/1770528/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1218309] Re: Gnome-shell freeze
Hello, Seeing the number of subscription to this bug, I believe it also affect a huge number of users. In fact, I usually use Unity. I had no problem. Then I installed gnome shell and started using it. It usually freezes out of the blue after 1 hour usage. As mentioned by the OP the mouse moves but you can click wherever you want, you won't get any result. [Bug 176838] Re: Incremental backups should not appear incremental when restoring
I really don't think this problem is still present on 0.2 RC 6. Currently, the full file list is shown from an incremental snapshot with the precision is the file is included or not. Then on can restore a non-included file using the "revert" and "revert as" button, which will get the latest version of this file (starting from the selected snapshot) I believe this solves the issue. However, an improvement can be added by disabling the "restore" and "restore as" button, when a non included file is selected. ** Changed in: nssbackup Status: Confirmed => In Progress -- Incremental backups should not appear incremental when restoring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176838 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I am trying to figure out is this is due to the sources or to a wrong build. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- libsmbclient-dev missing smbc_urlencode in .a in intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315774 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi, I am not home for the moment so I can't provide a build.log right now but I can give you a link to the sources I wanted to pack on intrepid. https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive * xbmc_8.10final1svn17113-hardy1.diff.gz (6.6 KiB) * xbmc_8.10final1svn17113-hardy1.dsc (1.7 KiB) * xbmc_8.10final1svn17113.orig.tar.gz (121.3 MiB) Getting those, you can unpack them and try to repack using "debuild -S -sa", you migth notice a diff between the two packages. Looking at the changelog in http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/d/dpkg/dpkg_1.14.20ubuntu6/changelog , I believe it version 1.14.17 that broke debuild. Not including some binaries in the sources is IMO a good choice, but we should at least have a way to tell dpkg-source to include them (bypassing the default). ** Changed in: dpkg (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: devscripts => dpkg -- debuild doesn't take "*.a" file anymore in the sources https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317761 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@john : the easier way to test is to use my PPA https://help.ubuntu.com/7.10/add-applications/C/extra-repositories-adding.html . By the way it's on hardy , I didn't make those changes for gutsy. So you need to have hardy installed ( or to use a Virtual Machine - on VMware for instance) To rollback, you'll just have to do it in Synaptic and select the official version . Just an idea that I had. Please tell me if it's valid and worth the effort : Currently we have 3 entries (by default) in the System > Administration menu for "Software management" (Synaptic, Update Manager, Software source) . I suppose others would have also "Adept" there. So maybe a submenu is needed for software. [Bug 174277] Re: Launchers under "System => Preferences" and "System => Administration" have similar names, leads to confusion.
Hello, This problem is indeed a naming issue but it's also due to a lack of communication. Even if we rename the menu entries, there will be some users not knowing (guessing?) where to go to do things. After some explanation one thinks it's logic to have those 2 entries, but if there is no help, documentation, screencasts, there is chances that one doesn't understand it. This is another problem though . Concerning this bug, I propose doing as the initial logger suggested and also rename : - System -> Preferences ==> System -> User Preferences - System -> Administration ==> System -> System Administration Problem is this bug need to be solved by patching every packages that has entries in those menus (unless there is another way to do it). And a wiki page needs to be written with this specification and there should be a lot of communication on this so that every developers knows about those specification. -- Launchers under "System => Preferences" and "System => Administration" have similar names, leads to confusion. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174277 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello, Thank you for your patch. I appreciate a lot your motivation and help. I don't maintain Sbackup (at least for now) anymore but as you have submitted a patch, it would be nice to have it included in Ubuntu for other users. There is a plan to re-merge Sbackup and NSsbackup though. But that won't be for Hardy. So it's better having Ubuntu-dev patching Sbackup 0.10.4. As for Launchpad usage, by submitting your patch here, since I have set the Bug for all projects (NSsbackup, Sbackup Upstream and Sbackup (Ubuntu) ), the patch is available for all projects and all developers have been notified. As for the plan on Implementing logging in the software, it has been done on NSsbackup (information available on https://edge.launchpad.net/nssbackup/ ). You can easily install NSsbackup by Using NSsbackup-Team PPA ( https://edge.launchpad.net /~nssbackup-team/+archive ). Take the gutsy version (0.1-6) if you want something stable. Well, actually, the piece of code that you gave works fine and well. But in my case, i wanted to get the label of the NautilusMenuItem, and I didn't find a way to do this. There is AFAIK no way to get the details of a menu once it's set. If there is, this is the solution I am looking for and there is no need for this patch. But then, maybe the header should be documented concerning this matter. One other point that made me thinks this was a bug was this comment (in the nautilus-menu.h file). So the developer want the user to know what is in the MenuItem, but I didn't find any obvious way to get them once set. /* NautilusMenuItem has the following properties: * name (string)- the identifier for the menu item * label (string) - the user-visible label of the menu item * tip (string) - the tooltip of the menu item * icon (string)- the name of the icon to display in the menu item * sensitive (boolean) - whether the menu item is sensitive or not * priority (boolean) - used for toolbar items, whether to show priority * text. * menu (NautilusMenu) - The menu belonging to this item. Re: [Bug 188288] Re: NautilusMenuItemDetails not defined in header file
2008/2/6, Sebastien Bacher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > Could you mail the nautilus-list to get their comments on the change? Hello dear Nautilus masters :-) I have recently opened a bug on Launchpad and Gnome Bug tracker which is more a code organization issue than an improvement. Here is the description of the bug : Hello, I wanted to patch nautilus-action to add submenu support to it and I noticed that the struct _NautilusMenuItemDetails is not available in any of the nautilus extension headers. A search on the web showed me that it has been defined in the nautilus-menu-item.c source file. So we need to move it from this file to the header file. Otherwise it's not possible to use this struct in an external code. I have already made a patch. Best Regards So basically, Sebastien wanted to know what you think about this bug and patch before applying it to Ubuntu. I have attached the same patch to the Gnome Bug . Gnome bug : http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=513854 Launchpad bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188288 So basically the patch is just a move of a struct out of the source *.c file to the header. There is another struct that is defined in that source file but that is commented as Private in the header, so I didn't move it. Longing for your answer ...
