Here is the link: https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/34347d6a-68d3-11ea-9850-fa163e102db1 By running ubuntu-bug _usr_lib_xorg_Xorg.0.crash I got a dialogue with a checkbox to remember to report this error automatically. Once I checked the box the error does not pop up with every boot anymore. I also had to manually install whoopsie-preferences for this. After I saw the messages from Bryce Harrington just above, I was reluctant to download a whole new .iso and install the OS from scratch, having done a fresh install only the previous week. Instead, I followed instructions on updating *just* the Intel graphics driver at http://webupd8.blogspot.com/2009/06/new-ubuntu-intel-graphics- drivers.html (those instructions also cite Bryce) and have been test- driving for over a week now. I too suffer from this problem, on a fresh install of 9.04 on a fairly bog-standard Dell (lspci -vvnn attached). Francesco's solution seems for now to be helping, but not 100%. It's hard to find a set of steps that reproduce the corruption reliably, but it seems to occur only when opening new windows or switching workspaces. My most frequent symptom is corruption of the panels at top and bottom of the screen; application windows sometimes fix themselves when I open/close new windows in the same application. [Bug 352344] Re: Video corruption with Visual Effects set to Normal
I am frequently getting the same style of graphical corruption (output of lspci -vvnn is attached): corruption of window contents and of window shadows, as reported by Peter van der Spoel, and also corruption of GNOME panels at top and bottom of screen. Also like him, the corruption sometimes vanishes when giving a window focus or when opening/closing a window in the same application (getting rid of corruption in panels is harder).
