[Bug 1811730] [NEW] Thermald does not set max CPU after reseting the voltage using RAPL
Public bug reported: Hi, I was using Ubuntu 18.10 thermald package, but I noted that, after few seconds at max CPU usage (max temp), thermald send the signal to RALP to reduce the voltage of the CPU. It set the freq to minimum (800MHz in my case). But when the CPU is idle and temp is lowered (35-40ºC) it did not send the signal to resume normal operation of the CPU. I compiled the latest version of thermald from git (https://github.com/intel/thermal_daemon) and now everything works fine. I started to thought that the problem was the hardware or BIOS problem, as I disabled the CPU scaling on the BIOS, but intel_pstate continued doing freq scaling (I think for Turbo mode). But the real problem was Thermald. The latest version from git works really fine and it automatically disables and enable the Intel Turbo state and balance the freqs and fan control fine. My hardware is a Lenovo Thinkpad P52 with i7-8850H. I tested it using Ubuntu kernel and Kernel 4.20 optimized for i7 processor but with Ubuntu default config (except processor family="Core2/newer Xeon", Preemption Model="Preemptible Kernel (Low- Latency Desktop)" and Timer frequency="1000HZ". (Only changed those settings from make oldconfig and make deb-pkg). Re: [Bug 1110764] Re: [Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8470p] suspend/resume failure [non-free: fglrx]
I tried it yesterday and sometime ago, with the mainline kernels (different versions) and with custom kernels (with the Ubuntu kernel package creation rules), but the grub doesn't like them: when I start the computer normally grub stalled, so I need to reboot again to get the grub recovery console (like the menu) and boot the any Ubuntu Quantal kernel (not the mainline kernels) :S So I'm following your instructions confirming the bug. 2013/1/30 Joseph Salisbury joseph.salisb...@canonical.com Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.8 kernel[0] (Not a kernel in the daily directory) and install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as Confirmed. Thanks in advance. [Bug 907333] Re: Internal microphone doesn't work since Ubuntu 9.10 with Intel 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio
The pulse have the card with the configuration: Analog Stereo.Duplex It seems a problem with the kernel. With the kernel 2.6.32 works fine with ubuntu 9.10. I tried ubuntu 9.10 with kernel 3.x and the internal microphone didn't work. (Many checks: installing the kernel 3.0.0-r4 manually, installing different kernel packages from ubuntu kernel ppa, ... but it didn't work :S) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/907333 Title: Internal microphone doesn't work since Ubuntu 9.10 with Intel 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lts-backport-oneiric/+bug/907333/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
