[Bug 184620] Re: include supermount for removable media
I used supermount from ~2001 to 2008 on 2 different distributions. Coming to Ubuntu early in 2008 I found its automounting method annoying as I had to wait a few seconds for the system to recognise a new medium, and perhaps ask me what to do with it, before I could mount and use the medium. I understand Supermount isn't perfect but I believe it would be an improvement on the current system, and more friendly to new users. -- include supermount for removable media https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/184620 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 130353] Re: kernel panic after making dialup connection to internet
I've reproduced the bug in unpatched versions of Kubuntu 7.04 and Ubuntu 6.06. Both used the default kernel on an i686. I included more details in the bug report I linked to above. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Invalid = New -- kernel panic after making dialup connection to internet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 130353] Re: kernel panic after making dialup connection to internet
/etc/init.d/powernowd stop didn't make any difference on my system. I tried disabling the daemon through sytem settings just to be sure, but the kernel panic is still happening. -- kernel panic after making dialup connection to internet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130353 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 130353] Re: kernel panic after making dialup connection to internet
I've reproduced this bug. I reported it separately (bug #156164) because for some reason I couldn't find your report after searching. I had almost identical symptoms when connecting to a flat-rate ISP (also with an 0808 number). The only difference is I couldn't get the output in your attachment - my system just locks up without warning, with the keyboard lights flashing, and doesn't log anything about it. I'm working around it by using an old install of Mandriva 2006, which is not affected. I'll try your workaround in Ubuntu and report how it goes for me. I can confirm this still happens in Kubuntu 7.04 Final, I've been using the TerminateServer workaround mentioned above. -- feisty logout crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/86615 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 156164] Kernel panic while using serial modem
Public bug reported: The system freezes without warning while connected to the internet, usually within the first 5 minutes of connecting. The caps lock scroll lock lights flash repeatedly, the screen freezes and the only way to continue is a hard reset. I have reproduced this bug in 2 clean installs of Kubuntu 7.04, and while running Ubuntu 6.06 from CD (lights do not flash in 6.06). Steps to reproduce: Connect to a dial-up internet account using either KPPP or Wvdial (Kubuntu 7.04), or via standard network/ppp configuration (Ubuntu 6.06). Launch Konqueror or Firefox. Browse one or more websites for up to 5 minutes. Actual result: In approximately 95% of attempts, system locks up as described above. System logs, including kernel logs, show normal entries for the minutes before the panic, but no errors and no unexpected entries for the exact time of the panic. In the remaining ~5% of cases, system keeps running as usual. It first happened within 48 hours of my changing ISP (though not immediately after changing) so may be ISP-dependant. Hardware is as follows: Athlon 2200+ with 256MB RAM (32MB used for on- board Savage4), generic external modem connected to ttys0. Kubuntu installed on a 10GB primary partition of a 40GB HDD. The bug appears to be independant of other software running and of the system's uptime. Both install CDs were checked for errors (none found) and memtest86+ also reported no errors. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kernel panic while using serial modem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

My usual ISP of choice, + Fast4, causes the bug fairly consistently; I've tried one other ISP and + was unable to reproduce the behaviour. The latter ISP appears to use + less authentication but I can't be more specific at present. -- Kernel panic while using serial modem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156164 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
