Re: [Bug 554514] Re: cant find resource agents

2010-07-06 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
Hi!

2010/7/6 schwein sch...@libero.it:
Guys this bug should be highest priority, it is a SHOWSTOPPER!!
An operating system without mail and addresses is doomed! Such a fragile
Framework such as akonadi shoud be removed from the distro at this stage of
 development, it messes it up!
Not only for newcomers, I have accumulated hundrets of addresses o9ver the
past years and  currently cannot access them!!! this is crazy!

My current workaround is:
1. start kontact
2. wait until akonadi error dialog appears
3. close (only!) kontact
4. start kontact

Then you have your contacts again.

BTW: The higher timeout doesn't help, the error messages comes anyway.
It now just takes longer. looks like kontact does something wrong very
early on.

even if no or only a few changes have been made to the filesystem.

In earlier versions I have killed and removed these local searchengines,

It's not uncommon to use kontact as gnome user (frankly evolution is IMHO

OK, I did as you aseked and enabled debugging for everything.
The first xsession-errors was surprisingly short and contained only gnome
stuff, but the second one shows interesting elements.
It appears that the timeout theory is not bad. Kontact logs that akonadi had 0
agents and after that akonadi starts to log stuff and reports the agent it
found.

[Bug 557353] [NEW] kontact asks for self signed certificate trustlevel again after kontact restart

2010-04-07 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdepim

After I have updated from Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 beta, kontact asks on each start
whether I trust the self signed ssl certificate of the two imap servers I have
configured.
It stores this trustlevel (I always say trust forever) not permamently,
because when I restart kontact it asks again.

(Which is not forever in my opinion) ;-)

Looks like I have to boot the old kernel for a little while longer...

[Bug 442078] Re: Buttons in Eclipse not working correctly with GTK+ 2.18.1-1

2009-10-29 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
When the bug is in gtk that is provided by ubuntu 9.10, how should I get this
bug fixed in this case?
The eclipse packages from the net work fine with older GTK versions for example
from ubuntu 9.04. How du you expect the ubuntu users in the world to react?
Abandon all software that is not from ubuntu repositories because there is a
bug in gtk that has a workaround in some ubuntu packages?

Using eclipse from the repositories is not an option for me because you
get dependency problems with many plugins from update sites.

It would be sad if this bug wouldn't be fixed. There are many eclipse
users out there that use ubuntu, which now have trouble to run it
properly.

2009-10-28 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
The bug is still present in ubuntu and kubuntu 9.10 on eclipse 3.4 and 3.5
either installed from eclipse.org or zend.org.
zend studio even brings his own jre to run eclipse.

eclipse from the ubuntu repository works, but is unable to install any
php dev extensions due to version problems of dependencies...

When I use the export statement then In can start eclipse in the shell
without the problems

[Bug 182860] sometimes one color channel is moved down a little bit

all work of 2h music selection was gone. Now I am copying the file and I will
burn the cd at once when all files are there.
During this preparation I have encountered the Too many open files Bug
several times and I solved it with logging in/out.

This bug is really a pain in the ... uhm ... (!) back :-)

Maybe I should use midnight commander for the copy actions ;)

2007-12-07 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
I am encountering the same bug in gutsy :-(
First games went ok, then the dialog stopped showing. High scores are grayed
out.
I tried to reinstall the game and delete all config files of it in my home
directory. Nothing worked. I even searched gconf for more entries without
success,

[Bug 152846] KDevelop scrolls really slow when using xgl

2007-10-15 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdevelop

I am using kdevelop on my ubuntu gutsy laptop and when I'm using xgl (I have an
ATI gpu) it's really hard to work with kdevelop.
When I'm scrolling in sourcecode the redraw takes too long which results in
flickering and (which is the most annoying thing) it's not possible to scroll
to the target location, because kdev. scrolls many pages without stopping even
if I'm no longer pressing the cursor keys. The only chance to find the desired
codeline is to press slowly page-up and -down and then use the arrow keys
inside the visible area.

First I thought it would be a regular bug in kdevelop, but then I
tried to disable xgl via ~/.config/xgl-server/disable and it was back to
normal.

So there is a problem with kdevelop when using xgl+fglrx from gutsy.
kdevelop+X.org without xgl and fglrx works fine.

I'm also experiencing this. I have upgraded from feisty to gutsy yesterday

The soundfiles themself are ok, I can play them via the sound configuration

Audio is played directly via alsa. When I force to use esd it doesn't work and
i get a gstreamer error message.

Hi!

I had some minor problems with firefox before. It crashed from time to

[Bug 132005] OO opens documents on nfs share as readonly

2007-08-12 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org2

This bug bugs me for some time now.
I have all my documents on my small server that exports the documents via nfs
to all my
machines. It's possible to open/modify/create files from each machine, so the
permissions are perfectly fine.
The UID of my account is the same on server and the machines, which I confirmed
via ls -lna and a look in /etc/passwd

When I try to open an open office document it takes a really long time (no
matter how simple the document is) and
then it opens it as read-only. This worked before feisty IIRC and when I copy
the file to my homedirectory and open
it there, I'm having no dificulties to open/edit it.

I really don't know why OO thinks that the file os read-only, I can only
imagine that it tries to do some locking vodoo
or something like that which may fail. (Although this is the only program that
ever made trouble regarding files on this share)

Maybe it's related to:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/openoffice/+bug/41985

Is there something I can do to further debug it without reading tons of
sourcecode?
Any help is appreciated.

Well, I switched from Qt4 to openCV for the image handling now, so I can't
check if an updated package exists, but I have a stock install with all qt4
packages installed and it didn't work on my laptop. It was a fresh install when
feisty was released.
this is weird, because I did not mess with the qt configuration, so I'm
wondering why it's broken in my system. But if it works for others, thats fine

[Bug 114416] Qt4 jpeg support broken

2007-05-13 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
Public bug reported:

Regarding to the output of QImageReader::supportedImageFormats () it's
not possible to read/write jpeg images in qt4 even if the apropriate
plugin is located in /usr/lib/qt4/plugins/imageformats/

I noticed that because I tried to open a regular jpeg file with a qimage
instance and got a null image all the time.

Maybe there is ia bug in the corresponding feisty package?

[Bug 82451] Re: (Feisty) DBUS hangs after Gnome Login

2007-02-22 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
I still have this annoying problem that I have to restart dbus each time I
login to gnome.
I have removed the deskbar with the trackerplugin, Trackerd is not started via
session handling:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps auwx|grep tracker
cornelis 16575 0.0 0.0 2900 808 pts/0S+ 11:48 0:00 grep tracker

But DBus hangs... (Or it doesn't behave as it should do)
This is the dbus related stuff:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ps auxw|grep dbus
103 16050 0.1 0.0 2848 1108 ?Ss 11:47 0:00
/usr/bin/dbus-daemon --system
root 16195 0.0 0.0 2716 1216 ?S11:47 0:00 dbus-daemon
--session --print-address --nofork
dhcp 16206 0.0 0.0 2460 1236 ?S11:47 0:00 /sbin/dhclient
-1 -lf /var/lib/dhcp3/dhclient.eth0.leases -pf /var/run/dhclient.eth0.pid -q -e
dhc_dbus=31 -d eth0
cornelis 16288 0.0 0.0 4232 636 ?Ss 11:47 0:00
/usr/bin/ssh-agent /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session x-session-manager
cornelis 16291 0.0 0.0 2512 628 ?S11:47 0:00
/usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session x-session-manager
cornelis 16292 0.0 0.0 2848 1052 ?Ss 11:47 0:00
/usr/bin/dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 4 --print-address 8 --session
cornelis 16579 0.0 0.0 2904 812 pts/0R+ 11:48 0:00 grep dbus

There is no crash dialog appearing or something like that. I see no log entries
that may be related to this.
Is there anything I can do to raise the verbosity or check the health status
of dbus?

I only see that the drive icons are missing and software that depends on
dbus takes ages to do something.

When I start dbus monitor I see this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ dbus-monitor
signal sender=org.freedesktop.DBus - dest=:1.14 path=/org/freedesktop/DBus;
interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=NameAcquired

...

Any idea what may be going on here?

For some reason, this makes it try to start another trackerd (according
to my trace), which exits immediately because another trackerd is
already running (from /etc/xdg/autostart). This exiting generates an
untrapped error in the Python code.

Killing deskbar after login, and then reloading it (trackerd is done
validating its cache by then), makes it work.

Try to remove the deskbar from the panel and login again in gdm.
Do you also have the problem with the missing drive icons and the
hanging dbus?

I think the tracker problem is triggered by a dbus error.
This is consistent with your statement, because when dbus is not
available the tracker plugin is not able to find the trackerd, but the
trackerd uses another criteria to find whether another trackerd is
running. This leads to the error we're getting

 successfully. libdeskbar-tracker uses python-dbus, maybe
DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS is not correctly passed from gnome-panel to
 deskbar-applet.

I have already switched to the ubuntu package. The result is the same.
After Login I get the crash message from deskbar and DBus is dead.
From my point of view, it's he fault of dbus.
Everything happens at the same time, so there is no chance (that I see)
to see which dies first.
My theory is that dbus dies and this triggers the error in deskbar.

I was able to open the deskbar with the commandline you provided and use
the tracker search for example. (DBus died not)

Re: [Bug 82451] Re: (Feisty) DBUS hangs after Gnome Login

2007-02-04 Thread Patrick Cornelissen
Hi

I have removed deskbar from my gnome panel, but Dbus still hangs
(silently) when I log in.

I'm still pretty confident that this is not a Tracker problem.

Is there any way to get a backtrace, error log or whatever from dbus, to
see what happens when it freezes?

Here are all running DBus related processes:

~$ ps awux|grep dbus
103 5366 0.0 0.0 2840 1080 ?Ss 08:08 0:00
/usr/bin/dbus-daemon --system

/sbin/dhclient -1 -lf /var/lib/dhcp3/dhclient.eth0.leases -pf
/var/run/dhclient.eth0.pid -q -e dhc_dbus=31 -d eth0
cornelis 6118 0.0 0.0 4220 632 ?Ss 08:12 0:00
/usr/bin/ssh-agent /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session
x-session-manager
cornelis 6121 0.0 0.0 2512 624 ?S08:12 0:00
/usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session x-session-manager
cornelis 6122 0.0 0.0 2840 1048 ?Ss 08:12 0:00
/usr/bin/dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 4 --print-address 7 --session
cornelis 6688 0.0 0.0 2904 816 pts/0S+ 08:17 0:00 grep dbus

The symptoms I see are for example that the drive icons are not visible

I restarted dbus also before I logged in one time to see if dbus just didn't
come up during boot, but the problem remains.
When I restart dbus after I logged in I can see all icons reappearing.
Hopefully I'm able to work now we'll see ;)
