[Bug 994739] Re: wireless takes several seconds longer to connect from standby
Mathieu: ¿Can you revert the patch? it's breaking everyone else's wifi, I will think of a different approach to try to workaround the specific issue on BCM4353 with wl driver (maybe it's better to submit a patch to the wl driver itself). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994739 Title: wireless takes several seconds longer to connect from standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/994739/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 994739] Re: wireless takes several seconds longer to connect from standby
This is a better patch, which fixes the driver_wext in wpasupplicant when using broadcom's wl driver and shouldn't have effect when using any other underlying wifi driver, this is adapted from here to the current version of wpasupplicant in ubuntu: http://lists.shmoo.com/pipermail/hostap/2011-March/022891.html With this patch, the time to wait after a suspend when using networkmanager is around 12 seconds, i think it's an acceptable alternative if the patch gets included in ubuntu's wpasupplicant package. ** Patch added: wpasupplicant_fix_wext_for_wl.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/994739/+attachment/3155845/+files/wpasupplicant_fix_wext_for_wl.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994739 Title: wireless takes several seconds longer to connect from standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/994739/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 994739] Re: wireless takes several seconds longer to connect from standby
Finally found the root reason of the problem! :-) Both wl (broadcom proprietary driver) and brcmsmac (the open source driver) are installed, in 11.10 this wasn't a problem since the brcmsmac was not blacklisted, and even if the wl driver was loaded, it failed silently and brcmsmac was used instead. In 12.04, the wl driver has been updated to version 5.100.82.38+bdcom- 0ubuntu6.1 which includes the following fix: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/873117/comments/36 that basically blacklists the brcmsmac module, forcing the wl proprietary driver to be in use. When the wl driver is in use, resume takes 30 seconds to associate to the network, but when the brcmsmac driver is in use, it just takes 5 seconds. I just blacklisted the 'wl' module, and happily using the brcmsmac now in 12.04, without any issues. I've attached log of network-manager with debug enabled on both 11.10 and 12.04, notice the differences between both logs. The issue is not related to nl8021: modprobing 'mac80211' makes 'iw' command work correctly, but the issue with network-manager taking too long to re-connect still exists. [Bug 873787] Re: Banshee does not start
The crash is produced when the gconf key /apps/banshee-1/interface/panes/albumartist/browser/top/position is set to 0. When this key is set to 0, banshee will not start anymore. After dragging the window it will show the output pasted below. 4. When you try to start banshee again, it will not start. The bug is in xserver-xorg-core, not in xserver-xorg-input-devdev as reported originally. [Bug 210839] Re: missing marvell sd8xxx driver
To properly fix this bug, please add the Marvell modules to the debian config file and recompile the binary package. CONFIG_MMC_SD8686=m CONFIG_MMC_SD8688=m Then add the marvell firmware too, which can be downloaded from marvell website here: http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDisplay.do?dId=200pId=38 It should be placed in /lib/firmware/mrvl/ directory. I have tested the SD8686 module on HTC Shift UMPC and it works like a charm, I know there are only 5 days left, but it would be nice if you can fix this bug before 8.04 final is released. -- missing marvell sd8xxx driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210839 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 210839] [NEW] missing marvell sd8xxx driver
Public bug reported: The Marvell M-WLAN Driver is missing in linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24. In Ubuntu 8.04 beta, this package does not have the /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/ubuntu/wireless/sd8686/sd8xxx.ko module, found in previous version (ubuntu 7.10). However after extracting the source package I can see that it is in /ubuntu/wireless/marvell/ directory, but for some reason not included in the binary release of the package. ** Affects: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- missing marvell sd8xxx driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210839 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 93914] Re: Tilda X crash
I had the same problem on Ubuntu 7.10 (fresh install) and tilda 0.09.4-4: $ tilda (tilda:10582): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_set_geometry_hints: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed The program 'tilda' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)'. (Details: serial 11 error_code 10 request_code 33 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) Then I launched tilda as root using 'gksudo tilda' and it started properly but I couldn't use the default keybinding (NONE+F1) to launch it. So this made me think the problem was caused because I had the F1 key customized in System - Preferences - Keyboard Shorcuts. The solution is to change the tilda key binding on ~/.tilda/config_0 or to remove the custom key binding in Gnome settings that uses the same key binding as tilda. Hope this helps.
