2015-11-06 Thread Paul BROWN
#56:

lpadmin -p -o usb-no-reattach-default=true

[Bug 1351404] Re: Installing updates freezes while setting up grub-pc

2015-07-11 Thread Paul BROWN
Here's a screenshot of mine, and I can provide any extra info needed. I
am using UbuntuMATE 14.04 32-bit version and see this on several
machines. Seems to be due to grub setup wanting to open a
terminal-like window to ask for user input and not being able to??

[Bug 1351404] Re: Installing updates freezes while setting up grub-pc

2015-07-11 Thread Paul BROWN
This is a very fatal bug for me, as the end result is eventually a reset
of yhe system, after which my system won't boot up anfd ends up at a
grub rescue prompt. Not sure if this is b/c we're switching the default
order of tje partitions so that swap is first, everything else is after
that. I have to run boot-repair cd to fix this.

[Bug 1446602] [NEW] Incomplete language support during Lubuntu install shows incorrect dialog

2015-04-21 Thread Paul BROWN
Public bug reported:

While installing Lubuntu 14.04.2, we got incomplete language support
error. Dialog gives instructions for fixing this immediately or later.
That's all fine, EXCEPT, that the instructions for fixing this later
seem to be copy-pasted from an Ubuntu install. It suggests clicking on
the icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and choosing
System Settings, etcThese instructions do not work for Lubuntu
users, as there is typically no icon in the upper right-hand corner of
the screen.

Package may actually be ubiquity??

[Bug 1370966] [NEW] Remnants of context menu remain on screen

2014-09-18 Thread Paul BROWN
Public bug reported:

Not sure what we were doing at the time, possibly checking some
bluetooth keyboards, when we noticed this problem. It was not killable
with xkill. It seems there was some app open that has menus: Minimize,
Maximize, Always On Top, Always on Visible Workspace, Only on This
Workspace, Close. “Show menubar” can be seen beneath this. Anyway, this
app seems to have closed or something, and left bits of itself on the
screen. Unfortunately just not sure what was going on at that point.

[Bug 1032456] Re: Canon inkjets (and some other printers) print only half of the last page after 20120801 upgrade to v1.5.3-0ubuntu2

2013-07-24 Thread Paul BROWN
I believe I may have this bug as well, but not sure. At least the
workaround

(sudo lpadmin -p printer queue -o usb-unidir-default=true)

seems to work beautifully.

I had created a separate bug for this
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1202631), and have included lots of
logs, etc. there. Please let me know if I can provide more info. I'll
add a note to that bug that it may be a repeat of this one.

[Bug 1202631] [NEW] Pixma printer hangs after partial printing of Libreoffice Calc documents

2013-07-18 Thread Paul BROWN
Public bug reported:

Canon Pixma MP470 installed on a Lubuntu 12.04 via USB. Test
spreadsheet with a few random cells of data, wide enough to go to 2
pages (but have same problem with 1-page spreadsheet), Printer prints
fine til the point when it should continue to feed the paper, print the
footer and move on, but at that point stops. Printer indicates (in own
LCD screen) that the printer is still printing. No job is left in the
printer queue.

I believe all the other info required should be included via Apport, but
will naturally provide other info as requested.

[Bug 1202631] Re: Pixma printer hangs after partial printing of Libreoffice Calc documents

2013-07-18 Thread Paul BROWN
Tried the same file from an Ubuntu 12.04 install on a different machine
and got the same result (printer hangs).

Here's some more info:

Printer completely frozen at this point and will not respond to any
button pushing. Solution has been to remove and replace power cord, and
restart printer. At this point it feeds the stuck page and is ready
to print a new job.

FWIW: Nathan asked way back in msg #15 for some input, here it finally
is, though from another system where I had the same problem (and the qd
dummy-fix worked again):

[Bug 1063350] Re: add-apt-repository/apt-add-repository fails with ValueError: cannot convert float NaN to integer

2013-03-06 Thread Paul BROWN
I can confirm this patch worked for me! I'm a n00b with using the bug
tracking system, so sorry if this comment is not needed or should have
included more information.

[Bug 565459] Re: many laptop models need the same volume-key release quirk

2012-03-20 Thread Paul BROWN
Erm - hey, I seem to have a similar issue here with a Fujitsu-Siemens
Amilo LI 1818 -- what's the best way of getting this fixed and/or added
to this list? And/or I presumably should test this in some way to
determine if it really is this problem? The issue is with the volume
keys, and I *think* that's all. At least the brightness keys seem
alright, and I haven't checked the others yet. All work-around tips are
welcome as well, and please direct me to the proper place to rtfm if
that's applicable. Thanks!
