[Bug 609070] [NEW] Thunderbird user must set to forward signature

2010-07-23 Thread Paul O'Malley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Wish list
In
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.10) Gecko/20100527
Thunderbird/3.0.5
Previous versions (LTS) behaviour:
When one set the signature there was nothing further to do.

Current behaviour one sets a signature and one has to affirm that one
does indeed wish to use the signature in all cases.

From the menu:
Account Settings - Composition and Addressing
Two tick boxes:
One is ticked by default:Include signature in replies
One is not ticked by default: Include signature in forwards

My wish list request is to set both on by default, mostly because there
is legislation in this country (Republic of Ireland) which requires
certain information to be in a business email and this is a convenient
way of setting enclosing that information.

[Bug 202193] Re: incorrect user name errormessage displays in a wrong place

2008-03-22 Thread Paul O'Malley
This bug does not exist in the GNOME login screens.

In those screens the error message is below the dialogue box.

This happens on 1024*768 and 800*600 also.
In these cases the dialogue box masks the information.

It exists in the system updated less than an hour ago.

[Bug 63116] when doing a file copy nautilus should provide noclobber as a button

2006-09-30 Thread Paul O'Malley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

When copying files from one location to another the use of no clobber would be
useful with nautilus.
Use case one:
where moving apt-get archives on a usb device (external drive) and the full
archive from one machine is being moved to another
Use case two:
where moving photos from a camera that is not auto detected such as the
olympus camedia c-370

So an extra button called copy new files only or something like that
needs to be in place.

[Bug 63116] Re: when doing a file copy nautilus should provide noclobber as a button

2006-09-30 Thread Paul O'Malley
Use Case

If a directory had files foo1, foo3 fooN+1 but no foo2, foo4 foo5.
(Just to make the example work better, assume all files are big enough to call
for 20 seconds copying time, and it will cost you several minutes to restore
them all.
Jane happens to know all the files she wants are on filesystem /bar, knows that
some files are missing but not which actual files.
So Jane can cp /bar/* ., this is far from optimal, as this will this will
overwrite all files in the location where the missing foo lives.
So Jane has the setting in .bashrc, set -o noclobber.
noclobber will prevent any overwriting of files that actually exist on the
system.

Only howto I can find that makes it easy to read:

[Bug 60680] Ejecting an audio disk had message writing to disk

2006-09-16 Thread Paul O'Malley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Boot machine with an audio disk in CD drive.
Log into account.
Choose to remove disk using right click and eject.
On screen message reported that the system was Writing data to storage disk.
However the CD is a WORM device, so this is untrue.
It might be considered confusing.
This is the same message as when someone ejects a USB key,

Perhaps the program should judge the media and say if it is audio that
it is ejecting, and the existing message should be left in place for USB
devices, and other such external media.

[Bug 60720] [dapper] Permissions on changed directory not read even after restart of nautilus. GNOME needed a restart.

2006-09-16 Thread Paul O'Malley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

A directory with some files in it nested down three from the home
directory.

/home/user/name\ rest_of_name/Second\ Name/

has foo in it as a subdirectory foo and two other files.

The Second\ Name directory had permissions of r-xr-xr-x, once this was
changed to rwx the directory foo became unknown to the system.
foo and its contents were visible and I was able to work with them from the
command line.
I made foo and the files below it rwxrwxrwx (it is a single user machine and
they are not very important).
After several restarts of nautilus, I logged out of GNOME and logged in again.
I was able to work with the files in this directory with no issues.

This is expected behaviour. One may use a mouse and the keyboard at the same

Not possible, a single keypress is a single event - even if it interrupted the
flow of a mouse it would do so for only a very short time.

I would like an option for the user to stack channels in rows when in
many channels rather than scroll.

This vertical option would help where someone is in several channels at
once or some kind of focusbar where should a channel go blue i.e.
the users nick gets mentioned that would come into focus for them to
have an option to choose that window.
