[Bug 1000690] Re: Kubuntu 12.04 doesn't logout/reboot/shutdown after accidentally adding new default panel
I am having exactly the same issue, although it doesn't seem to be related to any panel-stuff in my case. It appeared yesterday, probably after installing updates from the last two weeks. When attempting to shut down, nothing appears in /var/log/syslog, and no new output is added to dmesg. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde-workspace in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1000690 Title: Kubuntu 12.04 doesn't logout/reboot/shutdown after accidentally adding new default panel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/1000690/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 973096] Re: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash
I am sorry about the issues you are having, but please, let's be consistent on what issue we are talking about in this particular thread. There are multiple possible reasons for X to crash, and it strikes me that you clearly refer to another issue than the one described here. I was having this issue (reported one of the duplicates), my X crashed approximately every 20 minutes. After having switched to nouveau (the open source driver), my box ran fine for two weeks without a single crash. This particular issue seems to be related to my specific video card, I have colleagues running the nvidia-current on other cards just fine. ... why you guys started make 12.10 when you don't have finished 12.04! Many different people are working on different projects. Op 23 mei 2012, om 21:13 heeft Igor Korcek het volgende geschreven: Not just Nvidia driver, also open sourced driver has problem. It happened once with my ATI too. What can i say more - 12.04 is the most buggy release. Even with Unity 2D i had some problems but after all Unity 2D is useless for long work. Canonical can't complain about people switching back to Windows or anothe distro. Don't take me wrong - Ubuntu is fantastic and loved Unity but this bugs with crashing Xorg are so important. I lost lot works and time with bug reporting... and really don't understand why you guys started make 12.10 when you don't have finished 12.04! -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to a duplicate bug report (988892). https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/973096 Title: Nvidia driver causes xorg crash Status in “nvidia-graphics-drivers” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: When using 12.04, X will crash and send me to the login screen. Re: [Bug 988892] Re: Xorg crash
I worked around this entire issue by uninstalling all nvidia drivers, and installing the nouveau driver. To my surprise, it supports dual monitors on my Quadro FX 570. While the accellerated animations are performing fabulous, Chromium won't render WebGL 3D (tells me that my card doesn't support it), whereas Firefox gives me approximately 0.5 FPS, and looks to be on software rendering. :-) I am not using this box for any 3D activities whatsoever, so I am happy for the moment. If I can find some time. As far as I know, all versions listed there are all versions installed using the package manager. Could you - just for the sake of completeness - try to figure out what version you are currently using? (i.e. the one that allegedly solved your problem?) [Bug 988890] [NEW] Xorg crash
Public bug reported: I am on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. All stuff is up to date from the default repository settings. I expect my X to not crash at random moments, whereas it does occasionaly, approximately once an hour. These crashes happen randomly. Apps I'm running are Chromium, Terminal, PhpStorm IDE. I fear it has something to do with my graphics driver. I'm using NVidia Twinview with the driver that came installed during the Ubuntu installation process.
