[Bug 1870736] Re: Screen scaling 125% gives 200% (nvidia)

2020-04-15 Thread PerJensen
I have installed xubuntu-desktop, fully updated the system and rebooted

Xubuntu environment
===

xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 2x2 ==> very smail windows ans
fonts

xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 1.5x1.5 ==> not so small windows, also
the fonts are a little bigger in terminal

xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 1.0x1.0 ==> back to normal

Now scaling the other way:
xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 0.75x0.75 ==> I see approx 1/4 of the desktop
(the left upper quadrant)

xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 0.5x0.5 ==> very large windows and
fonts in vscode, it seems the fonts in the terminal dont scale as much

xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 1.0x1.0 ==> came back to normal in 1.
try

window & fonts, only seeing upper left part of the desktop on the screen

pj@Monster:~$ xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 0.5x0.5==> even larger
and less desktop visible

pj@Monster:~$ xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 1x1==> NOT going back to
normal
pj@Monster:~$ xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 1x1==> Still not
pj@Monster:~$ xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 1.0x1.0==> Stille not
pj@Monster:~$ xrandr --output DVI-D-0 --scale 2.0x2.0==> back to normal

ImageMagick er en programpakke til at oprette, redigere og komponere
bitmap-billeder. Det kan læse, konvertere og skrive billeder i en række
formater (over 100), inklusive DPX, EXR, GIF, JPEG, JPEG-2000, PDF,
PhotoCD, PNG, Postscript, SVG og TIFF. Brug ImageMagick til at oversætte,

justere billeder, farver, anvende forskellige specialeffekter eller tegne
tekst, linjer, polygoner, ellipser og Bézier-kurver.
 .
For working with the SVG, WMF, OpenEXR, DjVu and Graphviz formats, you
need to install the libmagickcore-6.q16-6-extra package.
 .
This version of imagemagick is compiled for a channel depth of 16 bits
 (Q16).

[Bug 1871061] [NEW] Drag'n drop a desktop folder to Nautilus window fails

2020-04-06 Thread PerJensen
Public bug reported:

I have created a folder om my Desktop (called "Skrivebord" in danish)

Populated the folder with som media files

Opened a Nautilus window and navigated to a folder, where I want to copy
desktop folder to.

Drag the desktop folder to the Nautilus window - once the icon is
hovering over the Nautilus folder, there is no "+" sign (it is a folder
on a different disk)

Result:
the folder icon "flies" back to it's position and nothing happens.

Observation: it is the same result, if the ctrl key is pressed while the
drag'n drop is performed

I guess it is the gnome-shell program, as it is the only process have
activity, while doing the drag'n drop operation (multiple times within
seconds)

There is no indication is /var/log/syslog that something is gone wrong.

[Bug 1870758] Re: Screen scaling 150% results in monitor power save state

2020-04-06 Thread PerJensen
@corey wood - I can confirm your finding.

I did this:

1. scale to 200%

2. reboot - the login screen shows

3- login --> screen power save mode happens

4. ctrl-alt-3 and then log in at the console

5. Change "" from 2 to 1 in ~/.config/monitors.xml

6. ctrl-alt-2 to switch back to graphical environment. The monitor is
still in power save mode

7. ctrl-alt-back to kill the X server

8. login screen appears

9. login in and I am back at scaling=100%

I have no problem using scaling at 200%. Opening applications is working,
gthumb is working fine for instance. I have switched back and forth, and is
writing this in chrome at 200%.

gnome-control-center is acting a bit wierd when:

1. at scaling=200%, open gnome-control-center

2. scale back to 100%

3. the app now is now maximised - the dock to the left is visible.

[Bug 1870758] [NEW] Screen scaling 150% results in monitor power save state

2020-04-04 Thread PerJensen
Public bug reported:

Working on fully updated focal fossy

Procedure to make bug happen:

1. open gnome control center and select screen (skærme in danish)

2. click the "fractional scaling" switch

3. select 150% scaling and click the green button at top right

4. Result is a blank screen and the monitor going into a power save
state

A reboot doesn't help. The login screen appears, when I log in the screen goes
blank again and the monitor power save kicks in.

If I select the "unity" environment, the display does work.

If I do this on the command line "gsettings set org.gnome.mutter
experimental-features ['']", I can log in as usual and fractional
scaling has been turned off.

[Bug 1870736] Re: Screen scaling 125% gives 200%

2020-04-04 Thread PerJensen
When reporting the bug, I used the nvidia-driver-435 which is not
tested.

I have installed the nvidia-driver-440 and rerun the test case.

Same result: selecting 125% scaling gives 200% scaling

[Bug 430255] [NEW] NIC configuration incorrect after upgrade to karmic alpha5

2009-09-15 Thread PerJensen
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 alpha5 the NIC is configured by DHCP
instead of using the interfaces file (given below).

I expected the network settings of eth0 to be the same as before the
upgrade.

A strange thing:
==
sudo ifconfig eth0 down

sudo ifconfig eth0 192.168.2.2 up
now the eth0 interface has IP=192.168.2.2

sudo route add default gw 192.168.2.10

now the interface has IP=192.168.2.106, the IP it gets from the DHCP
server, weird.

[Bug 249340] Re: Gutsy-Hardy upgrade hangs in localedef

2008-07-17 Thread PerJensen
I just experienced the same. I came through a reboot doing this.

1.
Did a sudo killall locale-gen whenever that problem arose

2.
I watched closely when grub and the new kernel was installed.

3.
Checked that /boot/grub/menu.lst looked right

4.
Checked /lib/modules/2.6.24-19 looked right

5.
Had a good look at the report about failed packages, nothing alarming showed up

6.
Rebooted without a problem

7.
sudo aptitude upgrade which fixed the problems

8.
Have a fully functional desktop

Well, perhaps I placed the bugreport in a wrong package, but danish

What package would be the correct to file a bug in, e.g. which package
takes care of setting up /home/$USER

Am not running on kernel 2.6.22.12 with crippled firefox and openoffice
and presumably many other applications.

Feel free to ask for more information.

[Bug 128800] Re: pdf preview doesn't work on gutsy

2007-10-01 Thread PerJensen
I don't see previews of pdf files on my KDE desktop. If I rightclick on
a pdf file, chooses thumbnail and click on the Preview button, a
correct preview is shown. The automatic preview checkbox on the pane
is selected.

[Bug 137753] Re: strigidaemon needs exclude lists, defaults eat up too many resources

2007-10-01 Thread PerJensen
I agree that the default directories to search, include too much. Also
it would be nice if the daemon was running with at nice higher nice
value. That way it would get out of the way when other programs need the
cpu. The high cpu usage btw. makes my Compaq Presario very loud!

[Bug 136303] [Gutsy] Thunderbird doesn't open http link in firefox

2007-08-31 Thread PerJensen
Public bug reported:

Have upgraded from Feisty Fawn, which was upgraded from Dapper. Version
running now is Gutsy Tribe5 with subsequent updates

Now clicking on a http link in an email message doesn't bring up firefox
or opens a new tab in an already running firefox.

Thunderbird does not emit any error message when run from the
commandline and clilcking on a url.

This used to work before the upgrade.

[Bug 96106] Re: Did not install new kernel - deleted old one

2007-03-27 Thread PerJensen
Originally I installed Dapper Drake, upgraded to Edgy Eft and have now
upgraded to Feisty beta.

I used the instructions here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FeistyUpgrades

I was user pj and therefore did a

'sudo update-manager -d'

From then on I followed the prompts.

[Bug 96106] Did not install new kernel - deleted old one

2007-03-25 Thread PerJensen
Public bug reported:

Upgraded from Ubuntu 6.10 following instructions on website.

Was asked to accept deletions of packages not supported. Accepted the
choice.

Rebooted and found a system with no new kernel and the old 2.6.17
removed. I was fortunate enough to an ancient 2.6.12 kernel lying around
from which I booted the system (many thanks to grub!)
