[Bug 1265192] Re: Install/reinstall wipes out all/other partitions

2014-09-11 Thread Petar Sredojevic
I just experienced a variation of this issue - my data was not wiped but
my partitions were resized and rearranged or merged, I can't say what
because I can't make sense of it.

In the installer, I was presented with the 'alongside' or 'replace'
options, and after choosing 'alongside' there was no warning, no
preview, or a way back. At this point I assumed that the installer would
show me a preview and hard-ask me to confirm at a later time, and at a
minimum that whatever it would do would be non-destructive, and there
was tons of unformatted space for it to use. This is a LTS after all.

My starting partitions were something along the lines of:

sda1 - 300mb - EFI
sda2 - 32gb - Fedora / (ext4)
sda3 - 128gb - /home(ext4)
sda4 - 8gb - swap
unpartitioned - ~80gb

I now have (taken from the Fedora install):

# lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:00 238.5G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:10 300M 0 part /boot/efi

I was able to install Acrobat on Xubuntu 14.04 Daily 64-bit by

[Bug 794720] Re: xubuntu desktop fails to respect preferred applications

2014-01-07 Thread Petar Sredojevic
This is persisting in the 14.04 dailies - setting the default browser to
Chromium via Preferred Applications resets on reboot, and even when
selected some applications do not honour it.

Public bug reported:

Close lid Do Nothing does not do nothing - the screen is turned off.

None of the hacks in this thread work either:

[Bug 155184] Re: laptop screen comes back on after closing lid

2013-07-07 Thread Petar Sredojevic
This bug is still present in 13.04 - and should probably be
renamed/reclassified to something along the lines of 'close lid do
nothing settings are ignored'.

Power Settings for both battery and plugged-in are set to 'do nothing'
for 'when the lid is closed' but my monitor still turns off on lid-
close; prior to disabling locking in Lock Brightness, I would also be
prompted to re-login - _something_ is happening as opposed to _nothing_.

System: Dell XPS m1210 with Intel 945GM integrated graphics.
