2014-06-12 Thread Peter Sewell
Hi David,

Here's what I've done and it seems to have worked - fingers crossed.

I removed the indicator-printers using Synaptic.
Added the Pre-release Updates in the repositories.
Then installed the indicator-printers using Synaptic.
Then changed the repositories back to normal unticking the Pre-release Updates.
Rebooted
And it stayed working for me.

Hope that helps.

[Bug 1312411] [NEW] GNUcash crashing because of libdbi

2014-04-24 Thread Peter Sewell
Public bug reported:

I've upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04 and since upgrading I've been
experience crashes when closing GNUcash. Not every single time but
mostly the first time after a reboot of ubuntu when closing GNUcash it
will crash. After restarting GNUcash it will close without any problems.

I've reported this to GNUcash and they say the problem is with libdbi
and that it is either a bug in ubuntu or with my installation. Another
user has also reported this problem to GNUcash and his system was also
an upgrade from 13.10 to 14.04.

Below is the debug listing from GNUcash when it crashed.

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

I've checked and all of these packages are installed and uptodate.

I've requested help from GNUcash and they it's not their problem. Their
reply is pasted below:

John Ralls [GnuCash developer] 2014-04-22 15:53:09 UTC
That will be from GnuCash loading libwebkitgtk, which we use for displaying
reports. It appears that the acroread installer registered itself as a WebKit
plugin, but the uninstaller didn't unregister it.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WebBrowsers identifies 3 browsers, Epiphany,
Konqueror, and Midori, which are based on WebKit. If you have one of them
installed you might be able to use it to unregister the acroread plugin.

I didn't find this helpful but I'm hoping that you can help me.

[Bug 872044] Re: Bluetooth 'Send files' returns permission denied error

2012-05-01 Thread Peter Sewell
I can't understand how this bug as been reported as fixed when it's
still not working in ubuntu 12.04 for me.

What am I doing wrong which is stopping me using the bluetooth transfer
between a Nokida E65 and HTC Desire (with Bluetooth Transfer App
installed)?

When I open Personal File Sharing it says at the top of the app that
"This feature can not be enabled because the required packages are not
installed on your system". What packages are these and how do I install
them?

It allows me to tick the Share Files over Bluetooth boxes and the
receive files over Bluetooth.

Any help would be appreciated.

[Bug 913648] Re: Unable to send/recieve files using bluetooth

2012-05-01 Thread Peter Sewell
How can this bug be marked as Fix Released when I can't transfer files
from either of my mobile phones to or from ubuntu 12.04.

I have enabled the bluetooth file share properties and I've connected my
Nokia E65 and my HTC Desire to ubuntu 12.04 and both will not transfer
files in either direction.

In fact when I tried ubuntu completely crashed and on reboot didn't load
into unity but into command prompt only - After several reboots I
finally got into unity as normal.

So clearly something is seriously wrong here.

If you say that this bug is fixed then I would hope that a clear
guideline could be written down for everyone who is affected by this so
that we can fix our ubuntu installations.

Thanks

This also effect me on ubuntu 12.04 and Libreoffice 3.5.2.2

It also happens if I try to insert an Envelope.
