[Bug 1349176] Re: i8kmon won't work on Dell Inspiron 7720 (causes lag)
I have the same start-stop sequence lag on a Dell Vostro 1720 with i8kutils 1.41 on Debian. By shutting down i8kmon (/etc/init.d/i8kmon stop) and switching to manual i8kfan commands I can reproduce the lag/freeze for some commands, and not for others; cat /proc/i8k does not cause lag/freeze. The command i8kctl temp returns 55 and does not cause a lag/freeze. The command i8kfan 0 2 returns -1 2 (and makes the fan run fast) and does not cause a lag/freeze. The command i8kfan 0 0 returns -1 0 (and stops the fan) and causes a short lag/freeze. The command i8kfan 0 1 returns -1 1 (and makes the fan run slow) and causes a short lag/freeze. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1349176 Title: i8kmon won't work on Dell Inspiron 7720 (causes lag) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/i8kutils/+bug/1349176/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 311910] Re: [RV250] Black screen on lower resolutions on Dell Latitude D600
** Description changed: Since the upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10, I can no longer switch to lower resolutions than 1400x1050 on my Dell Latitude D600 laptop when using the Open Source ATI Radeon driver in X. When switching to a lower resolution the screen goes black. Lower resolutions work without problems on the terminal screens (CTRL+F1 to CTRL+F6), they also work without problems in X when using the vesa driver. I tried adding the Option NoDCC to xorg.conf, but Xorg.0.log showed that this option was ignored. Adding the Option IgnoreEDID also didn't make a difference, but I'm also not sure if it was actually used. Attached is my current xorg.log. [Bug 311910] Re: [RV250 Mobility FireGL 9000] Black screen on lower resolutions on Dell Latitude D600
Hi Bryce, I also captured 2 Xorg.0.logs, one from directly after logging in and one from logging in and switching to a lower resolution. In both cases, I switched to the text console (CTRL+F1) for copying the logfiles and rebooting, so the logs might contain some output from this switch. If this is a problem I can try to capture the logfile differently. [Bug 298525] [NEW] GNOME: Changing an icon on custom launcher is confusing
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel When I want to change the icon on a gnome-panel launcher and browse for my icon, I first have to select the directory containing the icons (graphics files) and after that get an option to select the actual graphic. This is a little bit confusing, since I didn't understood that initially only directories were shown. It's not really a serious bug, but people having this confusion would probably click on 'Cancel' rather than on 'Open', effectively failing to select a new icon. Attached are the browsing screen not showing the graphics files and the actual icon selection screen that I missed until I found out that the browsing is for directories only. I'm runing Ubuntu 8.10. [Bug 68331] Re: false positive regarding update
Hello, My vmware-player package on Ubuntu 7.10 has a similar problem. Synaptic and apt-get both suggest to upgrade from 1:2.0.2-1~ppa5 to 1:2.0.2-1~ppa5 . I had the same problem with an older version of vmware-player (a version ending with ppa3, don't know the exact number). Synaptic and apt-get both already upgraded the package to the same version and they still keep on asking to upgrade to the same version. Notice that vmware-player could not be authenticated.
